Assess hard floor to be cleaned:
1.1. Floor type and condition are assessed,
soil type is identified, job requirements are
reviewed, and issues are clarified.
1.2. Work site hazards are assessed and risks
controlled according to company, legislative,
and health and safety requirements.
1.3. Cleaning methods for hard floor surface
are selected according to company
requirements.
1.4. Equipment is selected according to job
requirements, checked for serviceability,
and faults are rectified or reported before
starting work.
1.5. Cleaning chemicals are selected and
prepared according to task requirements.
1.6. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is
selected and used according to
manufacturer specifications, and health and
safety and company requirements.
1.7. Signs and barricades are selected and
installed according to health and safety, and
company requirements.
1.8. Tasks are sequenced to ensure
maximum efficiency for completing cleaning
requirements.
1.9. Pre-existing damage is identified and
reported according to company
requirements.
In organisation, there are different types of
floors such as ceramic tiles, brick, slate,
proprietary flooring and many more. In
Bupa, aged care soil type identified is dust,
rainwater and tones. On the basis of these
issues, I recruit people to solve their issues.
There are different types of hazards in care
home which I face such as noise, working in
confined spaces, etc. which have been
assessed and controlled by me and my team
members as the requirements of health and
safety. Some of the cleaning methods are
those according to which the surface such as
air blowing, spray buffing and scrubbing are
used by nurses. Further, equipment is
selected according to job requirement that is
air blowers and water houses. Apart from
this cleaning methods include solvent,
alkaline and neutral cleaners. Protective
clothing and disposable respirators are
selected for PPE and these are used
according to specification of manufacturer.
Besides this, existing damages which are
faced by patients are properly reported to
higher authority in an appropriate manner.
Selection of barricade deals with risk
assessment which involves visibility of hazard
and amount of clearance which are provided
from the hazard by barricade.
