Introduction
An organizational behaviour plays a vital role in the growth and development of the company. It
is one of the studies of individual performance which also cover the study of group with the
activities within an organization. It is the study of human behaviour in the setting of
organizational activities. An organizational behaviour represents the concept of complexity
theory in the setting states of the business which is majorly used where the company as well as
the workplace teams are more dynamic as comparison to the rigid(Nutbeam, Harris, and Wise,
2010)
In the following part there will be detailed discussion on the concept and theories of
organizational behaviours with sharing the observation that have been done before(Michie,
West, Campbell, Brown, and Gainforth, 2014)
Summary of the observation
While doing the Workshop activity, I have visited some places and observed the behaviour of
people which include, firstly I went to student breakout area and observed that some people
were talking about the manner university support the students and they seems quite satisfied
and after that I just went to library where I have observed that some people were worried about
their assignments because due date of submission coming soon and the assignment was not
completed yet. Afterwards, the behaviour of SEO receptionist was observed. She represents
herself as the happy person as she has a jolly nature with the kind hearted lady. She manages
the students in an effective manner as most of the time she was engaged with the students. At
the time of observation, she was busy in inviting the students for Xmas party. Furthermore, in
the coffee shop two people were sitting at different tables, they were busy in their mobile phone
and they were looking very serious. At the end I have visited communal area where I have seen
the group of five people who were enjoying in the get together as they seems very happy and
also having beer in their hands(Carnall, and By, 2014)

Critical Analysis of the observation
The observation can be described from the following theories and techniques. It will show how
the organisation needs to work and manage the behaviour of individuals. The different theories
prescribed below:
Emotional intelligence
Emotional intelligence distress with the human ability to use emotions and emotional knowledge
to enhance thoughts as well as ability to motivate the employees for improving their
performance and handle with problems. Emotional intelligence is found everywhere we look,
without it, organisation would be devoid of key part of human experience. There are five
components of emotional intelligence which are shown under:
ï‚· Self awareness
ï‚· Self regulation
ï‚· Social skills
ï‚· Empathy
ï‚· Motivation
Motivation theory
It is a theory which encourages individuals towards the organisational goal through their efforts,
intensity and direction. Motivation refers to the individual which is driven to meet personal
needs. Motivation helps in achieving organisation goals. It has been observed in one of the case
the group of five people who were enjoying in get together that shows they were all satisfied and
enjoying their social life that make them motivated. Therefore, this makes employees flexible
and stress free and focus towards organisation goals(Foy, Ovretveit, Shekelle, Pronovost,
Taylor, Dy, Hempel, McDonald, Rubenstein, and Wachter, 2011)
Attribution theory
Attribution theory describes the behaviour of different people at different situation. It helps in
judging the behaviour of individuals to determine whether it is internally or externally caused. In
internally caused it can be control by the person itself but whereas in externally it cannot be
control itself due to the reason, it depends on outside factors (Francis, O’Connor, and Curran,

2012). It has been analyzed that the receptionist changes its behavior according to the
management of the university and according to the different students.
Challenges of 21st century occur in Organisational Behaviour:
 Technology and innovation – Lack of knowledge in individual is a major drawback for an
achievement of organisation goals(Carnall, and By, 2014)
 Diversity at work – To manage the workforce of today’s generation there are certain
problems rose in reference to diversity. There are different thoughts, culture and an age
of individual’s which create a challenge on managers(Stough, Saklofske, and Parker,
2009)
 Employee Relations – The most important relationship is employee’s relationship in
every organisation. All the employees are treated fairly but still conflict of interest or
equity arises. Therefore, to manage the interest of employees proper HR management is
needed(Francis, O’Connor, and Curran, 2012)
 Laws – the organisation itself need to comply with the rules and regulations prescribed in
the Acts and in same way employees need to follow the rules of organisation and also,
the culture of organisation and country. People come from other countries have different
culture and to sustain in the organisation they need to follow that culture which is not
easy(Michie, S.F., West, R., Campbell, R., Brown, J. and Gainforth, H. (2014)
Reflection
The above observation shows that the theories are applied on the organisation in well manner
form. My work was to observe the behaviour of organisation. I found many theories and all the
three theories were appropriate and mannerly applicable. My observation shows that the
organisation needs not to be much flexible or too much rigid. It should be balanced (Stough,
Saklofske, and Parker, 2009)
There are many challenges come in front while observing the organisation and the remedy to
those challenges can be made. The issue of technology and innovation can be sorted by
providing training and orientation programs which will make the employees confident for their
work. Also the employees will feel accommodate and can raise problems or doubts easily. The
bunch of ideas and views will be provided by employees to the managers in decision making
and this is the benefit of different cultures of people in organisation. This will also boost the

employee’s confidence and raise the standards and the programs will also help in maintaining
the coordination between employees. The framing and following different cultures and rules
force the employees to work good and effective(Shaw, and Fairhurst, 2010)
Conclusion
From the above analysis it can be concluded that the main objective of this assignment was to
learn various organisational behaviours that are conducted in business environment; these
would help employee as well as future business entrepreneurs. The weekly observation
provides the opportunity to learn and apply theories and challenges in our organisational goal
and professional. In the above report many topics, theories and experience are covered. The
theories guide to judge the organisational behaviour and study on them. Organisational
behaviour reflects the mind set of individuals towards the organisation. Self awareness,
motivation and knowledge are included in organisational behaviour.
