I am performing the role of Detention service officer within security operations industry.
The position hold by me in this industry is related to Transport and escort within detentions.
Basically, the functions performing under this are transporting of detainees to medical, courts,
interstate & international and maintenance of vehicles. I hold the position which is important in
direction of nations safety along with society individuals. To perform the job roles perfectly,
there is huge need of continuous level improvement in skills and knowledge. This not only help
to perform the role properly but aid in facilitating others properly that are in need actually. The
major skill that uses mostly during performance of job is listening to others and cross
questioning for further ascertaining detained information about them. In respect to improve this
skill, I have to focus over improving whole bunch of communication aspects through
ascertaining training and guidance from peers. This will help to improve my skills along with
knowledge where I am able to understand people on the basis of their voice tones, behaviour and
body language.
The another aspect which is important to do for further guidance and motivating towards
performance of functions with high level of calibre will be development of personal work goals,
plans and activities that reflect organisational targets. I have the goal regarding detention of each
and every one who wants to enter in the country with bad intention along with the one who do
not fulfil all necessary requirements. The another aspect that help in achieving of such personal
goals is measuring of own performance against workplace context and contingencies. In this
regard, best to take the help peers and usage of appraisal technique of 360degree. This help in
identification of deviations and further development in accordance to required needs.
The achievement of personal performance level is not easy till a person not prioritise and
facilitate demands. To achieve my own personal performance levels, first I have to focus over
continuous development of own skills and knowledge. This is the only way that help to perform
regularly within such diverse environment. Secondly, I have to focus over supporting and
maintaining the level of mutual understanding among staff. This help to remove confusion along
with unnecessary level of hindrances that restrict effective performance of work.
Along with performance of professional roles, there is much need of accomplishing their
own personal goals too. This will help in maintaining work life balance along with minimisation
of stress. In this regard, I have to focus over prioritisation of work on the basis of its importance

and nature. Also, I take the help of attendants that perform and inform continually about the
aspects which are necessary to living normal life.
Currently, I have sufficient number of skills through which able to perform functions
properly. But, these needed to develop for further personal and professional development that not
only help to perform functions effectively according to requirement but also assist in attaining
higher level responsibilities and authorities. I felt that I am good in communication, resolving
dispute and understanding skills. The peers of my department also have same opinion about mine
skills. They said I am good in communication and effectively understand the situations. Still, I
think that there is need of developing listening and prioritisation skills. The methods which will
help in developing competence in weak areas includes training and guidance from higher
authorities. Both these methods will effective in nature to develop listening and prioritisation
skills that further aid in attaining competitive edge against other staff members. Development in
these help to perform professional work effectively along with fulfilment of personal duties.
The detailed explanation of requirements that will aid in development of identified skills
and knowledge is presented below;
