INTRODUCTION
Management is activity of acquiring person together to achieve coveted objectives
utilizing available resources effectively and expeditiously. It is also determined human activity
involve plan, to help production to multi-purpose result from system. This position opens
possibility to manage and pre-requisite to contribute to manage other. There are three concepts
such as work management, controlling of person and operation of organization. The aim of
management is to give customers for increasing profits(Combe, 2014). It involves different
action of setting policies and coordinating attempt of its workers to achieve its goals by
availability of different resources such as financial, natural, technological and human resources
in company. There are mainly five functions of management such as planning, organizing,
directing, controlling and staffing. This study is based Imperial hotel. It is well known
international brand of 4 star hotel chains. They provide services to international business and
tourists guest who have expected highly standards services. In this case study, company faces
problem of ineffective leadership and management by early head of department and supervisory
staff that involve poor monitoring and controlling of procedures. This report will analysis
management theory and procedure of effective management. It will also give suggestion for
resolution of problems in company.
ANALYSIS OF THE INDIVIDUAL PROBLEM
The Imperial hotel is well known London based international brand of 4 star hotel chains
which is situated in heart of London's West End. They mainly give services to international
business and tourist guest who have expected highly standards services. But in recent year,
organization faces many problems such as poor guest satisfaction, high staff turnover of 80% of
staff leaved hotel, high levels of sick leave and poor attendance by negative work culture, poor
team work in front office as well as back office, inefficient utilize of IT system, ineffective
leadership and management, poor monitoring and controlling procedures in company(Albert and
Beatty, 2014).
In this context, Imperial hotel take decisions in terms of solution of ineffective leadership
and management by past department head and supervisory that involving lack of monitoring and
controlling of process of company. There are many causes that happen in ineffective leadership
and management such as poor communication, lack of collaboration, failing of monitoring and
controlling for housekeeping, kitchens staff and reception of hotel. By all these problems,

company face poor guest satisfaction, 80% of staff leave the company. This issue occurs by
ineffective leadership and management in hotel.
Management theory
Imperial hotel find the solution for solving ineffective leadership and management by
past head of department and supervisory staff in terms of poor control and monitor of procedures
in the workplace. Therefore, they are applied different management theories for solving this
problem for increasing guest and employees satisfaction in the workplace.
Administrative Management Theory: This theory is founded on the conception of
division that refers various actions to be worked for accomplishing communal goals of company.
They can be determined and categorised into various teams or divisions. Henri Fayol is giving
this theory who consider that more accent can be arranged human and behavioural elements as
well as company in the management(Akrani, 2011). The focus on rising skillfulness of
management that ultimately increasing standards of management then motion to level of
operation. By this, employees learn changes and implement in their daily activity. Hence, this
theory follow top-down concept. Henri Fayol give many principles of management such as
division of work, discipline, authority and responsibility, centralisation, order, equity etc. With
the help of it, hotel improve leadership and management by supervisory staff and HOD's (Head
of Department) in the workplace. Through it, firm also effective control and monitor procedures
by following all these principles such as proper division of work, learning of discipline, equally
treated to staff. So that, employees are helped to company for better controlling and monitoring
on procedure of business. This theory helps in improving functioning of management in the
company.
Human Relation Management Theory: This theory is studied impression desire to be
part of accessory team that assists growth and improvement. Human relationship management
includes relationship between productiveness and social factors. Productivity trusted on workers'
satisfaction in situation in work(Christopher, Laasch and Roberts, 2016).The potency of Imperial
hotel depends on quality of relations between to employees working in company. With the help
of it, firm determine inter-personal relations between employees at work. Good human relation
aids in accomplish higher motivation and production in the workplace. Through it, company
improve relation between leaders, managers and staff at work. Effective human relation helps in

Both theories help to Imperial Hotel for solving ineffective leadership and management,
poor controlling and monitoring on procedure of business. Therefore, applying these theories,
company building human relation, increasing productivity and rising the level of management in
the workplace. With the help of it, firm easily improving control ability of leaders, manager and
staff for raising effectiveness of firm(Bogodistov and Botts, 2016). By these theories, firm
building strong collaboration and leadership for improving performance to leaders, managers as
well as staff in the workplace. Therefore, company requires following both theories to
management of people, resources and overall performance of the company.

Imperial hotel follow different ways to manage and solve problem of ineffective
leadership of past HOD's and staff supervisory for control and monitor to procedure in the
workplace. Such as ways:
Building relationship: It is essential to build relationship with leaders and staff for
effective management of company. With the help of it, company improve, control and monitor of
procedure of company. Through this, firm easily solve problems such as reducing staff turnover,
poor guest satisfaction and other issues.
