INTRODUCTION
Management is the group of activity which influence management activity and the
business functions. Present report based on management which will going to present different
functions of the management in order to express the democratic, Laissez faire as well as other
styles. Furthermore, it will also discuss about leadership characteristics in present report three
leadership style will going explain interpersonal skills, communication skills and honesty.
Further apart, it will be discussing communication processes to ensure the proper work in the
management. Management skills performance which helps manager to manage the working
process in more effective ways. Analyze the own personal SWOT in order to identify the
effective tool management.
TASK 1
1.1 Define management and compare different management styles.
Management styles is the most important process to handle all business function in order
to achieve the management objectives. Management styles helps to take decision making process
each style having their own characteristics and pros & cons. There are some management style
giving below:
Autocratic style: in this management style manager take decision unilaterally, without
taking the participation of other team members (Agrawal, Sharma and Malviya, 2017). This
style reflect and change the opinion of the company members and give adverse effects on the
behavior of employees. On the other sides, it helps manager to perform better well managed
business, good confident personality. These kinds of managers give excellent supervision to the
subordinates. On the other hand this autocratic managers no more create leaders and managers
they are self centered which give negative impact on the employee moral.
Merit:
It creates new skilled managers who make decision making process.
This style helps to make the environment managed and align business to business
objectives.
Demerit:
Less participation of employees which lead to dissatisfaction.
No more successful in terms of effective management (Caminero and et.al., 2015).
Democratic style: it is the another style of management, in this style managers allows
team members for participation and their contribution in decision making approach. Along with
that, in this approach manager take everyone together in order to enhance the skills and
knowledge of other leaders. This approach helps to create more managers in the company. This
process helps to widespread communication where subordinates communicate with managers

vice-versa. This helps to give satisfaction level to the employees which helps in accomplishment
of organization objectives.
Merit:
Create leadership approach and satisfaction level among employees and mangers.
Proper communication level which help to flow necessary information.
Demerit:
Create mismanagement due to lack of misunderstanding among managers and employees
(Campen, 2016).
Laissez-Faire management style: this style of management helps to communicate
horizontal as compare to other style it is a very small communication channel. In this style staff
members are very creative and unique style.
Merit:
Proper communication flow between same level of staff.
Better decision making process.
Demerit:
Lack of participation of top level management.
Lack of flow of communication.
1.2 Discuss the leadership characteristics.
Leadership is the kind of process in which individual leader approach employees for his
better performance (Drohan and et.al., 2017). Every business needs a good leader who gives
support to employees in order to make the effective working environment. Along with that, it is
the best effective process in order to hold the business activities. There are three characteristics
of leadership which defines the importance of leadership.
Good communication skills: until unless if communication process is not clear, vision
or mission of the company is not clear. It gives lack of improper results. Besides, a good leader
always having this quality which removes communication barriers. Good communicator have
power to motivate employees and make the best productive source.
Interpersonal skills: interpersonal skills are comes from the background knowledge
from good education and experience. Good leaders be always a good learner which makes
environment positive in the business (Dunford, and et.al., 2017). For example Hilton Hotel
leaders are the well skilled and knowledgeable which adopt different innovative environment in
the atmosphere. A good leaders having interpersonal skills through which they make customers
happy and satisfied.
Honesty: the supreme quality of leadership is honesty which makes Hilton Hotel more
precious and attractive. Customers loved top visit Hotel Hilton because their management staff is
well honest with the customers (Ilieva and Karaatanassov, VMware Inc, 2016).

diverse environment which brings new opportunity and growth. Manager of Hilton needs to
adopt all changing culture or environment in order to manage the company objectives and
growth. Manager needs to adopt demographic, legal or economic environment in order to ensure
the effective productive environment. It gives various opportunity for the company to meet the
needs of customers by adopting all changing environmental factors. In order to adopt the best
effective environment. Along with that, organizational environment provides opportunity to grab
the market opportunity in order to compete with external market. Demographic factors includes
corruption rates, population rate etc. besides, legislative environment gives the opportunity to the
company to adopt effective environment changes.

Specific (S): specific is the effective element in which individual needs to set the specific
objective in this plan, I will set by objectives or give priority to the things which is most
important and necessary. This is the effecting and potential process in order to enhance the threat
or weaknesses.
Measurable (M): this is the next process towards the goal and objective. This process
helps to measure the actual performance and effective working performance. This is the
continuous process which helps to keep on tract every time.
Action oriented (A): in this step individual needs to break the goals into small action
steps in order to achieve them in more efficient manner. Moreover, this helps person closer to the
main objective or goals.
Reasonable (R) : this is the another step which helps to avoid setting which arise
unreasonable expectations. Person influence by personal and situational factors which affect the
overall objective. Individual needs to avoid all those affecting factors to ensure main objective.
Timely (T): this is the another major step which is most essential and important. This
helps to maintained the commitments to the deadlines (Campen, 2016).

Due to market downturn company fails to pay annual pay rise to employees. In order to
settle the issues and conflicts of the employees. It is very necessary to adopt the best leadership
approach to guide employees (Kanabar and et.al., 2017). It is the responsibility of the manager to

adopt the effective process to deal with employees. They need to provide motivation and trust in
terms of not getting annual pay. Give enthusiasm among employees in order to accomplish the
organization objectives. This is the main objective of the company to adopt effective
environment so that, employees give their participation in tough time.
3.2 Justify managerial decision you will make to support achievements
It is the responsibility of manager to make the working environment among employees in
order to get the business objectives. Managers take decision on the basis of present environment.
Its decision making process support employees or organization objectives. Manager needs to
adopt plans in order to manage the achievement of company. Managers needs to adopt employee
group discussion to take reviews of them. Manager should take participation of the employees in
order to get the best decision making process.

among other employees.
4.2 Review career personal development needs, current performance and future needs to produce
development plan.
On the basis of mine weaknesses or threat I will need to learn more technical skills and
enhance the management concepts to nourishing best effective opportunities. This helps to
generate the best possible task which gives effective working process. On the other side, I will
need to adopt some management workshops and classes to improvisation of my management
skills. This helps me to get overcome from weaknesses. This is the best process of working in
very effective manner (Seddon, Fred and Amanullah, 2016).
