Introduction
Improper ethical practice has become important concern for many organizations based in Asia
(Douglas-Jones, 2017). Investigating the present business situation, it has been identified
increasing ethical conflicts have created operational challenges for the leaders and managers to
promote ethical leadership. It has been identified that in case of concentrating on the business
objectives, the ethical practices help the organizations to get benefits. Although many
organizations in Asia are facing challenges to maintain the ethical practice, but there are some of
the leaders who have shown their significant contribution in maintaining ethical practices in the
workplace (Christensen, Lægreid & Rovik 2020). The guideline of business morals get created
depending on the ethical approach adopted by the managers. Investigating the Asian work
environment condition, it has been identified that dealing with the ethical challenges has become
then primary concern for the companies.
From the last few decades, ethical conducts have become the crucial topic that has transformed
workplace culture in Asian organizations. Market challenges have become a significant factor
that is making challenge for the supervisors to proceed with the moral practice. On the other
hand, it is true that keeping up the consistency of ethical approach in the working environment
has become challenging due to diversified work culture. The study has focused on analyzing the
causes of ethical challenges faced by the managers and sharing the strong examples of the
leaders, how the ethical consistency can be maintained has been shared.

Discussion
Corruption has become the common practice in Asian organizations. In terms of sustaining in the
com0peetetivee business environment most of the companies have avoided the ethical practices
in the workplace. Due to high corporate scandals in most of the company, lack of transparency
has become the major concern for the managers.
Crane et al., (2019) expressed that dishonest practices in the organizations have created the moral
conflict. Instead of concentrating on the moral conduct, the directors have moved their attention
towards business productivity. The toxic business environment has been increased in the
workplace with social provocation and low wages (Abidin et al., 2019). Especially in case of
Malaysian public sector, it has been identified that high corruption, lack of transparency and
improper relationship with the employees have significantly impacted on the productivity rate. In
this situation encouraging the employees for developing personal values have become necessary.
Avoiding the cultural harassment is necessary in the work sector in terms of promoting the moral
behavior.
In the words of Choi et al., (2018), in order to promote ethical practices in the workplace, various
initiatives can be adopted by the managers. Ethical code of conduct is one of those that denote
the disciplinary approach in the workplace. The ethical concepts are being developed based on
transparency, integrity and honesty, which indirectly influence the corporate governance. In the
report published in the year 2017, it has been identified that almost 28% companies in Asia have
faced several ethical practice related issues (Abidin et al., 2019). Especially in case of Malaysian
market the situation is quite visible. In order to avoid such unethical behavior in the workplace,
training and development can be highlighted as one of the important strategic moves that can

promote the ethical standard. Through the proper implementation of Anti-corruption policies in
the market, thee employees can be aware of their ethical rights (Douglas-Jones, 2017).
Analyzing the five years trends in Malaysian companies, it has been identified that most of the
cases the companies have introduced the corporate governance for promoting the ethical
behavior in the workplace. However, it is true that due to lack of disclosure and monitoring,
promoting the ethical practice is quite challenging (Christensen, Lægreid & Rovik, 2020). In
order to deal with the situation the sustainable practice is needed. With the proper formation of
ethical committee, the employees can be able to share their needs with the managers. This
initiative can significantly contribute in promoting the better relationship between the managers
and the employees in thee workplace.
It is true that in the 21`st century, ethics has become the major priority for the global leaders. In
order to develop the strong values as well as implementing the ethical leadership approach,
managers should focus on adopting some abilities to gain the trust of employees. In case of both
the small and medium sized organization, sense of accuracy and honesty needed to be developed
among the managers (Peoplematters.in 2020). By continuing this, it can be said that through the
ethical practices, stakeholder satisfaction can be provided by the company. In the year 2017,
most of the Malaysian companies have adopted the sustainable operational strategy in the
workplace, which has contributed in improving the ethical culture. Therefore, it can be said that
through the introduction of mandatory regulations in the workplace, it can be easier for the
companies to promote betterment.
It is true that many of the organizational mangers have involved themselves in different unethical

Jones, 2017). The ethical practice followed by the company is still the inspiration for many of the
leaders. In every year, understanding the needs of thee employees, ethical culture in the company
is being reinforced. The current chairman of Tata group Ratan Naval Tata has become the
inspirational figure for many of these industrialists due to his values as well as principles
(Tatainternational.com 2020). Maintaining thee equality approach towards the employees the
company has promoted strong ethical culture in the workplace. In the workplace, the company
has developed ethical committee with the name of third party reporting helpline, where the
ethical violation related reports are being investigated.
Analyzing the ethical codes in Tata group, it has been identified that the company believes in
upholding the highest ethical standard the business philosophy of this organization is to align
with the ethical codes that associated with the stakeholder benefits (Tatainternational.com 2020).
Analyzing the business philosophy of Tata group, it has been identified that facilitating the
ethical process, the company has aimed to improve the group reputation in the global market. By
fo5rmulating the ethical council, the company has reinforced values in the workplace.
Rattan Tata is the inspirational leader in industrial sector due to his transparency as well as
integrity in the business operations. Analyzing the ethical practices in the Tata group, it has been
identified that the ethical code of conduct as well as whistleblower policy are being f0ollowed by
the leaders in terms of promoting the ethical leadership approach. Analyzing the ethical code of
conducts followed by the company, it has been identified that from the 150 years, the company

has maintained its strong commitment towards the stakeholders (Tatainternational.com 2020).
The ethical values in the company have been developed based on the four pillars such as
integrity, pioneering, responsibility and unity. Fairness, honesty and transparency are the three
important operational characteristics followed by the company that has helped the company to
ensure the public security in the workplace. The business leader became the inspirational figure
in the global market due to his responsible movement towards the social principle and integrate
environment. Pioneering can also be defined as the important element in the ethical practice
followed by the company. In this process, the problem solving ability of the company gets
increased and through promoting the innovations solutions, the customer benefits are being
provided. Unity is another important element in ethical practice. The chairperson of the company
has adopted the collaborative approach towards the partners, which has inspired large numbers of
the managers in the globe.
In the words of Donovan, Hampson & Connolly, (2018), Mahindra is another important
organization that has gained the market popularity with its ethical practice. It has been identified
that maintaining the appropriate clothing and language, the company properly maintains the
transparency in the workplace (Semple et al., 2017). Analyzing the business ethics followed by
Mahindra, it has been identified that fair competition has made the company ethically standard in
the global market. In order to bring the operational growth the company maintains basic
principles of ethics. Being the good corporate leader the chairman of this company has
maintained the customer centric business approach in the workplace. By supporting this Dyson,
Wishart & Andrews (2017) stated that the leader has maintained his dignity towards the ethical
leadership approach which has made him an inspirational figure in the market. The core values in
the company have been developed based on the professionalism and dignity. An and Mahindra is

the chairman of Mahindra group, who has become the global inspirational figure in the industry,
has maintained the ethical practice in the workplace by following long trust developing process.
Introducing the Zero tolerance policy, proactive communication and professionalism, the leader
has developed thee ethical codes for maintaining the healthy behavioral approach in the
workplace. By continuing this, it can be said that by acting with integrity, honesty has been
promoted in Mahindra. Anand Mahindra is the safe keeper of ethics, who has maintained thee
whistle blowing policy in the workplace. The good governance in the company has helped in
terms of building the ethical foundation in the workplace.

In the above analysis, it has been identified that most of the Asian companies deal with the
ethical challenges due to improper monitoring and the ethical codes implementation process.

have gained the strong popularity in the market due to their strong commitment towards the
stakeholders. Therefore, it can be said that stakeholders’ benefits highly influence the ethical

based on professionalism and proactive communication so that the relationsship0 with
stakeholders can be maintained. Therefore, analyzing both the situation in Tata group and
Mahindra group, it can be said that if the other organizations will be able to properly follow these
leaders, in the long term error free ethical practice can be maintained in all over the organizations
in Asia.
