Scenario 1: Access and Power Relationships
Linda must go for the second option that is
Linda should create a survey and send it out to all of the district’s high school principals, asking
them to complete it as soon as they can.
This is because as she is working as a superintend of Jolla del Mar Unified School District, she
must be very busy and will naturally not let the time to go out to the Principals and take the
interviews or analyze the kinds of answers that is being given by the principals of the high
school. The first option is not possible because she will not be able to get to the root cause of the
problem or to find out the solution. It is also not ethical on the part of Linda to use only those
principals as her respondents with whom she has a good term. The survey must always be carried
on based on the different and also a very large number of respondents. It is because of this reason
that the survey must always be carried on by abiding the different ethical rules and regulations.
On the other hand, leaving the decision onto others that is on other representatives for collecting
the data is also not a wise decision. This is because the principals of the high schools might not
be able to understand the actual reasons of why the research is being conducted. It is because of
this reason that the one who is trying to conduct the survey must try to send a written message
via the circulation of the survey or the questionnaire. This will enable the principals to read the
message and also go through the survey or the questionnaires and take their time in framing their
answers. After Linda receives the answers or the responses from the respondents, then she will
be able to understand the opinions and also gain some knowledge about the actual benefits that
they are getting from the professional development skills that have been introduced.

Scenario 2: Level of Disclosure
Sally should develop a generic purpose for the study that is truthful but does not fully disclose
the study’s purpose.
This is the strategy that Sally must use. However in order to make sure that she is able to carry
on with the particular line of study or academics that she wants to pursue she has to take the help
from her mentors. It is because of this reason that she will be getting the help and the support
from the supervisors and will also be able to make sure that there is no such obstruction coming
in her path of academics or in her path of studies. Though this is a very different kind of line or
stream that she wants to study, there is a chance that the military officials might feel angered to
cooperate. However on the other hand, there can also be some kinds of oppositions faced by
Sally coming from the social or the personal level. Apart from this, if Sally is also not able to
inform this to her own mentor or professor then it is likely for her to face some or the other kinds
of issues as she will not be getting the help and the guidance from anyone. Therefore she must be
selecting the option of informing this to her mentors in an indifferent way. The purpose of the
study will not be clearly stated but she can definitely give some or the other kinds of hints so that
she is able to proceed properly with the needed amount of help from her supervisors. This will
enable her to move on in the course of her academic life by studying the subject of her choice
and also this will enable her to get the exact data that she needs in order to proceed on this part.
She might not get the full support of her mentors in the beginning but gradually she will be able
to get some sorts of tips and guidance on how to proceed on this particular part.
