INTRODUCTION
Management Information System(MIS) is an electronic system that helps the
management of the organisation to manage, organize and evaluate the working of
various departments. MIS uses hardware and software for supporting the decision-
making of the peoples that are working in the company(Lovelock, C. and Patterson,
2015). The Report will be based on Marriott Hotel. It belongs to hospitality industry.
The headquarter of the hotel is located in Maryland, United Kingdom. The Report
will outline the importance of using MIS in collecting information, marketing and
communication in the hotel. The Report will also describe whether MIS is effective
for the hotel for marketing its products or services, collecting information and in the
process of communication.

The use of MIS in the company.
Management information system is a type of system that helps in effective
decision-making of top, middle as well as lower level of the departments in the
organisation. It also helps to collect, evaluate and manage the information for
various functions. There are various components of MIS they are as follows-

Marketing-
Marketing is an important function of any organization. It involves use of various
tools and techniques for influencing the customers to buy the product or service.

departments of the hotel such as food and beverages, finance, human resource etc.
The system helps to resolve the problems that are occurring in the process of
marketing. The information that is provided by the employees that are working in
production department of the hotel can be easily used by the marketing department
of the hotel(Peltier, 2016). The manager of hotel can use Marketing Information

respect of the needs and demand of the guests of the hotel. The components of the
software helps to collect the information that helps to improve the efficiency of the
marketing department of Marriott Hotel.
The hardware and software of the system also helps to produce various types of
reports that supports in systematic collection, recording and interpreting the data
that is important for marketing of the services that hotel is offering to the
customers.
The management information system is an important tool for the marketing
manager of the hotel. The software helps to collect data and information that

decisions this will impact the effectiveness of the performance of
