MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM
Introduction
A MIS or Management Information System is the computer based database or system
that stores, transmits and manipulates data or information in a programmed or organized manner.
It is useful and helpful in all the levels of management in a particular organization (Laudon &
Laudon, 2014). This particular course or subject was included in my university syllabus. I have
learnt everything and every details of this subject from my lecturer. Moreover, my peers and
friends were also helpful to me for learning the subject. I have known that the main objective of
the Management Information System or MIS is to provide relevant feedback to the managers
about the performance, goals and objectives that the organization gets from the several sources.
The management levels or the managers monitors or manages feedbacks to acquire information
and thus can improve themselves (Peppard & Ward, 2016). I have learnt that this information is
extremely important for all organizations and it is needed for the improvement of the
organizations. I have gained all the knowledge of the course from several learning outcomes like
quiz, critical review and proposal.
This report is a self reflective report about my knowledge and learning about the course
of Management Information System or MIS. The following self reflective report describes about
the most interesting aspect of this particular course. I have also described about my thoughts
about this particular course that I have developed during the semester. The report also has
description of the part of the processes that I have enjoyed during the course. I have also
described about the contribution of my understanding in information system.

Discussion
1. Most Interesting Aspect
The aspect that I have found as the most interesting aspect in the entire course is the
systems. I have learnt that systems is the set of elements that are joined together for the same
objective or goal. A sub system is the portion of a larger system. I have learnt that the systems
and the sub systems help an organization optimize the output of the organization.
2. Thinking about the Course
During the first class, I was having trouble in understanding the basic concept of the
course. However, as days passed by, my conceptions were absolutely clear and I understood the
subject well. My thoughts were developed during the entire course slowly and gradually.
3. Enjoyed Most
Now that I have finished the work, the process that I have enjoyed the most is the
decision making. There are various functions of management information system. They include
planning, controlling, monitoring and decision making. My lecturer helped me to understand the
functions of MIS. My lecturer provided me relevant description of each of the processes. I
enjoyed the process of decision making the most and understood the process well.
4. Surprises
My lecturer has placed several surprises for us during the entire course. There were
various surprises including the surprise quizzes, lectures, critical reviews and proposals. These
quizzes, lectures from the different lecturers, the critical reviews and the proposals have helped
me a lot in the course of management information system or MIS. These surprises were
absolutely sudden for me and these have helped me in the knowledge gaining of the subject.

Management information system or MIS has helped me in my overall understanding of the
course. I have understood that information system is the system that stores or manipulates the
information in a programmed or organized manner. Previously, I had the vague idea about
information system. However, as I attended more classes, I understood that information system
has several and explicit advantages for a manager or a professional.
6. Learning from the Subject
The knowledge that I have gathered from the course of management of information

management information system. The main advantages of this management of information
system include the storing, manipulating and transmitting information or data in a system.
Previously, I did not have the idea about my leadership and management skills. However,
after attending the classes I have understood that I have certain skills that are required for being a
successful individual or person.
7. Reflection on Peers
My lecturer has helped a lot during the entire course of management information system.
