MIS helps to store the information on
technology, involved peopled and
record of business, and information
how to process information or store
so all this information can be used by
the makers to take decision on daily

Role of MIS
 Should be responsible to fulfill the needs of system
which can be like: analysis systems, modeling
system and support to the system.
 Analyze the plan of strategic and control on
management ,transaction processing or operations
 Provide a personal data planning for the junior
management which help them in future planning.
 Provide the short planning to the middle
management
 Work with high level management to reach the goal,

Structure of MIS
 MIS structure can be understood by the
physical component.
 Physical component of an organization are:
hardware, manual procedures, operation
system, database and hardware.
 It’s hard to understand because there is no
formal frame work for describing the MIS
structure.

Classification by characteristics
1. Strategic information: it includes the long term policies and decision which
defines the goal of organization to met the objectives.
2. Tactical information : this information includes budgeting, quality control,
service level, productivity level and inventory level.
3. Operational information: in this category different quality control check for
specific jobs which are operators specific jobs, machine specific jobs and shift specific
jobs.

Classification by application
1. Planning information: This helps to set a standard norms and specification for
organization. this information used I operation , tactical and strategic planning.
2. Control information: Help to maintain the control to all the activities in business for
feedback mechanism
3. Knowledge information: it helps to get the information about the information. It
comes through the experience and learning.

Classification by management
hierarchy
1. Supervisor level information: Here, the expertise of management works to collect
the information on their level to help the middle level managers.
2. Middle level information: it is a middle level where intermediate managers work for
top level managers and leading the responsibility for low level managers.
3. Top level information: In the top level information managers work for their strategic
plan to organization and also concentration on big pictures for growth of company.
