Management Issues in HIS Implementation: A Healthcare Study

This dissertation investigates the management issues encountered during the implementation of Healthcare Information Systems (HIS) and proposes solutions to address these challenges. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, utilizing surveys and interviews with healthcare staff from two hospitals, along with secondary data analysis from existing research. The findings reveal that while HIS implementation has led to improvements in healthcare, issues such as lack of training, accountability, infrastructural problems, and the absence of a master database hinder its effectiveness. The research emphasizes the need for IT leaders to analyze the solutions proposed by technicians to further enhance the utility and efficiency of HIS within healthcare organizations. The dissertation provides valuable insights and recommendations for improving HIS implementation practices at the management level, ultimately contributing to better healthcare outcomes.
