Management of the organisation refers to managing the various activities performed by
organisation. There are different functions performed by organisation that consist of marketing ,
human resource function, accounting and finance and research and development. This
assignment will include marks and Spencer to perform various task of this study.
This project will include different role and characteristics of manager and leader. Also, it
will consist of various theories and model including situational leadership, system leadership and
contingency. Furthermore, this assignment will include approaches of operation management and
the role that leaders and managers play. Moreover, it will include the importance and value of
operation management in achieving business objectives. This study will assess the factors within
the business environment that impact upon operational management and decision making by
leaders and managers.

It is involved in a retail business and provide products relating to clothing, home products and
luxury food products. This company is operating its business in all over the regions and have
employees more than 80000.
Marks and Spencer follow flat organisational structure that includes limited level of
management between administrative level and front line employees. This structure is
implemented in marks and Spencer to involve employees in decision – making process to
improve the performance of organisation.
