Introduction:
Nursing staffs are found to be directly associated with nearly every phases of a health
care setting’s quality which includes patient care, treatment and medication administration. It
also plays a major role in assisting the health care professionals in the operation theatres in
conducting surgeries and various different operations, and they also include patient data
collection, recovery update reporting, and other factors (MacLellan, Higgins & Levett‐Jones,
2015). The assignment will focus on discussing how people think that nurses are below the
doctors and their role is to follow the orders given to them (Sullivan, 2013).
Deciding the message
In a health care setting, the nursing staffs represents the backbone of the system while
the doctors demonstrate the brain and eyes of the health care system. Role of both the doctors
and nursing staffs are related to each other, neither of the doctor and the nursing staff can
work without the involvement of each other. The lack of knowledge regarding a health care
professionals and having wrong idea in mind that the nursing staffs are below the doctors and
their role is to follow the orders given to them has been creating problems in health care
delivery (Başoğul & Özgür, 2016). The local health care setting often face difficulty in
delivering appropriate care to the patients as they believe doctors are the only professionals to
treat them and provide care to them related to their difficulties. The people often demand to
address their issues to the doctors and do not permit the nursing staff to assist them. These
creates a matter of concern for the local health care setting in managing patients and
promoting better health condition among the locality. Thus it will be necessary to write a
letter to the editor of the local newspaper in order to generate awareness regarding the fact
that both the doctors and nurses play equal role in a health care delivery process. It was a

reason behind addressing the message on how people think that nurses are below the doctors
and their role is to follow the orders given to them.
Deciding on how to share the message:
Around 12 percent of adults in the United States had adept health literacy. It has been
observed that inadequate amount of health care knowledge has been affecting the adults in
every cultural and national population. It has been surveyed that the aggregate quantity of
adults with average or below average health care literacy is almost 29 percent of the white
adults to approximately 64 percent of the adults from the Hispanic community. People with
low income and deprived social status often witness lack of literacy regarding the healthcare
setting and they cause difficulty in allowing the nursing staffs to provide better care and
treatment (Rikard et al., 2016).
In order to better delivery of the message to the local population, using media as well
as the conducting awareness campaign. These procedures will involve a wider range of
population which faces deprive literacy regarding the health care professional’s role and also
it will be conducted by collaborating the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
(HHS) which a federal government’s agency which involves the health care services (Cole,
Zief & Knab, 2016). The collaboration will provide knowledge and awareness to the
population that both the doctors and the nursing staffs are equally essential in the field of
health care services. The doctor delivers their ideas and analysis whereas the nursing staffs
offer health care assistance and physical treatment to the patients. It can be thus stated that
these two professional groups are both corresponding factors which aims towards developing
and operating a health care system in a better and effective manner (Malik & Dhar, 2017).
Thus comparing the doctors with the nursing staff won’t be justified, as each has specific role
in the health are setting and are equivalent to one another.

The message:
The assignment provided a better understanding and knowledge regarding the diverse
and equally important role of the doctors and the nursing staffs in delivering treatment and
care to the people in need. The nursing staffs are frequently addressed in any discussions
related to a health care issue as they are the primary factor which plays the essential role in
care and treatment delivery and they function as a bridge between the patient and the health
care professionals for development of the treatment process. It will be important to educate
people and explain the role of nursing staffs in order to generate the proper idea about the
role and importance of the nursing staff in delivering care and better health outcomes (Cope,
Jones & Hendricks, 2016).
