Management is direction of company whether it is non-for profit business or government
body. It involves functions of fixed the approach of company and coordinating efforts of its
workers to achieve its goals. On other hand, operation is activity and active process of discharge

obsessed with controlling procedure of manufacture and recreating business function. This study
is based on Starbucks. It is coffee company and coffee house chain. This report will define and
compare different roles and characteristic of leaders and managers of company. It will examine
role of leaders and function of manager in different situations. It will apply different theories and
models of situational leadership, systems and contingency approaches. Furthermore, report will
explain key approaches to operation management and role of manager as well as leaders in it. It
will assess factors within business environment that impacts upon operations management.

characteristics such as delegate, passionate, creativity and innovative for effective team work in

organization is called as manager. They are accountable for organizing, directing, coordinating
and controlling. Managers are also required at all department of company. Managers are refining
systems, structures and procedures. They are making judgement and focus on process of
