INTRODUCTION
Management is the coordination and organisation in the activities of business. Management and
leadership both plays important role in the successful organization (Beck, 2022). This report
discusses about the roles of management and leadership. This report also states about the
leadership practice and leadership style of the leaders, i.e Elon Musk and Steve Jobs and the
comparison between them.
MAIN BODY
Role of Management and Leadership
Management
It is the concept of planning and arranging or maintaining the organisational performance in the
most effective and efficient manner (Gurr, Longmuir and Reed, 2020). It is basically the
coordination of business activities. The persons who have a power to control the business or the
company is known as manager. Following are the roles of management-
Role of management
Planning - This is the most important function of management. Planning works as the
foundation of the business. Everything require planning. It is the primary duty of manager
to create a plan. This includes setting the goals, decision making process, direction
process, and it also decreases the chances of risk as well as delegating of responsibilities
and allocating resources.
Controlling – It simply helps in controlling the company's performance. Managers
guides their subordinates to achieve the organizational goals and monitor their
performance. It is basically the control over the organization. This is the process in which
the managers instruct their subordinated to achieve the predetermined goals of the
company. Controlling is the key of the successful management process.
Directing - Directing is the process that directly influence, guide, supervise and motivate
the staff members of the organization for the accomplishment of the organizational goals.
With the help of this role, manager leads subordinates in organization.

Leadership
It is the quality of an individual person to influence other members of the organization
and guide them to become and achieve in life. Leaders must have the potential to influence the
behaviour of others. Leadership plays an important role in the organization which are discussed
below: -
Role of Leadership -
Mentorship: - this is being considered as the biggest role of a leader. They not only give
right direct to their employees but also provide them support which assist them in
attaining success as well the organisational success (Jones, and et. al., 2021). The quality
of patience and listening to other allow them to face any hurdle and celebrate their
victories.
Motivator: - motivation is considered as the biggest source for team success. A leader
also plays a role of motivator in which they not only inspire their team member’s actions
but also encourage them to realize their potential. They motivate their employees to
perform the task with full enthusiasm and passion.
Communicator: - a leader also plays a role of good communicator which allow them to
interact with their subordinates and influence them towards the company goals.
Interaction with everyone inspire their team member and helps them in sharing
knowledge.
Comparison between Leadership practice and leadership style
Leadership practice
This is basically an action or strategies that a leader takes and implement in order to helps
their team members to achieve the organizational goals and bring productivity in the
organization. The comparison between the leadership practice of ELON MUSK and STEVE
JOBS is discussed below: -

Elon musk is being considered as one of the
successful leader of today era and the CEO of
STEVE JOBS is the co-founder and the CEO

followed by Steve jobs which is crucial
for varieties of situations like coaching,
feedback and many more in order to
keep eye on their employee and how
they are getting on (Paulson, 2018).

allows the employees to make deeper
bond with each other and express
themselves in public.
High performance culture: -Steve
focus on developing high performance
culture practice within the organisation.
This result in motivating employees on
regular basis and feel more engaged as
well aligned towards company culture,
value and belief.
Leadership style
This is the style of a leader in which they motivate, direct and manage the team members
to work with full productivity for the organisation and achieve all the objectives set by the higher
authorities. The comparison between the leadership style of Elon Musk and Steve Jobs are
discussed below: -
Leadership style of ELON MUSK Leadership style of STEVE JOBS
ELON MUSK is a great leader with great
leadership style. ELON musk follows the
transformational leadership style.
Autocratic leadership style is followed by the
Steve jobs. His nature is very specific, he

ELON MUSK is recognised for his aggressive
leadership style, he paid more focus or
emphasis on change, creativity and innovation.
The main motive of Elon is to provide
innovative products to their customers and
motivates employees to perform better and to
create a healthy environment (Youngs and
Evans, 2021).
Steve Jobs make choices on the basis on the
basis of their ideas and rarely accept the
judgement as well as decision of followers.
They focus on bringing new technology within
the market in quick manner and always aligned
with the vision of company.
CONCLUSION
From this report this can be concluded that management and leadership both plays an
important role in the success of an organization. This report also discussed about the leadership
style and practices on two famous leaders that is ELON MUSK and STEVE JOBS . This report
describes that how leadership style and practices helps leaders in being the effective leader. And
at last the comparison has done between the practice and style of the both the leaders .
