INTRODUCTION
Management is the set of principles that helps in planning, organizing, directing and
controlling, whereas operation management is the administration of business practices that assist
to improve the performance of company. The current study will shed a light upon importance of
management and operations. The chosen firm for this report is Morison which is top retail firm
in UK and offers range of products to their customers at reasonable rates. The study will explain
the roles and responsibilities of leaders and manager, along with this report will describe
different theories link with leadership. Moreover, it will critically evaluate different key
functions within an organization that assist to meet the set objectives. Also different internal and
external business environment factors are also defined that may affect the entire decision of
company in negative manner.

Morrison is among the top four supermarket chains in UK. It is a leading retail markets in
UK. It is a food retailing company. It has its own manufacturing and is well known for quality of
production. The organisation has 11 million customers running every week under approx
110,000 Colleagues. The company adapts matrix as an organisational structure. It is a
composition with the combination of both divisional and functional modules. In this structure the
employees perform in both type for themselves and under group tasks. Also decision taking is an
easy task with the help of the team and the manager so they both work together to attain specific
goals.

A new discount scheme: In order to attract the customers, Morrison wants a new scheme

be achieved and will divide their team for the implementation of the scheme. The theory
of coaching of leadership may be implied for the current situation.
Change management: There is a conflicts between the employees in a team, now to
resolve the same, leader tries to solve their problem and get the root of the matter but still
if it seems puzzled up they will refer it to the manager (Leiras and et.al., 2019). The
transformational theory will be applied here the leader will identify the change and will
create a vision to guide the change.
A new technological: A new technology introduces in Morrison to improve the
productivity level among employees. The manger first shares the idea about the
technology with the leader and them the leader collect all the necessary information about
the technology and then will inform and explain it to the team members. The theory of
delegating of leadership may be implied for the above situation.

are as mentioned below:

of leadership it all depends on the situation. The theory is about understanding the situation and

that helps to handle different situations. There may be many variables in a particular situation but
a good leader analyses the current situation, needs of the followers and then take the right action
accordingly.

their best potential so that the level of productivity increases. System leadership adapt a positive
response even in the complex situations.

to meet the define aim.

By summing up above report it has been concluded that operation and management plays
an important role in the success of the company. Such that leaders and managers assist the firm
to meet set target. Moreover, by using the system and situational leadership model, Morison is
also improving its performance. On the other side, it is also concluded from the study that there
