INTRODUCTION
This report will cover effective explanation and application of queuing, lean production and
six sigma approach within business including KAIZEN theory. In addition, different
dimensions within business environment, role of leadership and management to maintain
CSR activities and relationship with stakeholders will be discussed effectively.

3 Managers and Leaders roles in operational function
3.1 Queuing theory and application
It can be said that queuing theory wait for a specific time within operational management for
a particular aspect. Here, the queues are mutual to internal and external procedure within
Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital (TDMH) and it can increase the operations costs to
business effectively. The theory is effective in operation management that it helps to deliver
best ways in which organisation is able to operate without waiting rather than depending on
time availability an urgency (Ullah, 2017). The queuing system is managed by two concepts
such as FIFO which stands for first in first out and LIFO stands for last in first out. The
application of this theory within operations management is present in all aspects that can be
prioritised as per the time availability and requirement. The theory is also applicable in NHS
and same as operations management to complete tasks on time according to the priorities.
3.2 Lean production and application
It is one of the effective approach that can be used by TDMH to enhance effectiveness of
operational process. The approach helps in reducing wastes from the production process.
Lean manufacturing approach helps to minimise the wastes to make utilisation of resources
effectively. This helps organisation to improve quality of its operations to produce quality
products and services to increase profitability. This theory is applicable for all the
manufacturing and production business that it helps in improving time efficiency,
performance and reducing wastes and cost of operational activities effectively.
3.3 Six Sigma and application
For organisations like TDMH, six sigma is an effective approach in order to reduce the errors
from operational activities to provide satisfaction to people effectively. This approach is
mainly focused on improving quality of services with the help of proper strategy and
approach within business (Renz, 2016). The approach provides services that are effective

enough to make operations work smoothly and necessary for organisations operating in
hospitality sector. In addition, application of sig sigma approach within TDMH will help in
produc9ng effective and best results in order to provide services that are able to satisfy the
needs.
4 KAIZEN theory and application
KAIZEN theory is also an effective approach that can be used by management in developing
operations to achieve tasks with the help of executing, checking, making necessary changes
and again executing. The strategy is very useful that it provides best and effective ways to
minimise concerns associated with particular set of tasks which are crucial for business to be
performed better to overcome and provide solution to proceed further operations. It can be
said that KAIZEN strategy is not so difficult to implement rather it is an effective approach
follows step by step process (Harrison and Lock, 2017). This helps management to design
strategy according to the requirement of operations to improve procedures and achieve
desired outcomes. In, TDMH there are several areas where KAIZEN strategy can be used
within operations management such as customer services, management of data, service
improvement in different terms such as on-board services etc. effectively. Thus, the strategy
is useful in reducing previous difficulties within tasks in order to increase overall
performance and efficiency of business like NHS.

4 Dimensions in contemporary business environment
It can be said that the various dimensions of contemporary organisation environment for any
organisation are the basic aspects involved in external and internal environment such as
stability, political, social, economic, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), stakeholder
relationship management, strength and weakness etc. in this regards Costa coffee requires
effective management and leadership practices to manage these several business dimensions
effectively. The dimension of business is very crucial that it helps organisation to take
advantage of several business opportunities to provide benefits within operations to produce
quality and best results (Fagel, 2016). It is also important for Costa Coffee to have effective
control over operational activities in order attain and reach goal and objectives as per the
requirement of making sustainable future.
5 Relationship that management and leadership have in CSR activities
In business, management and leadership plays a vital role in managing and controlling the
internal environment by handling employees and external forces that has impact on
operational activities. The role of management and leadership is essential within business
environment that they are responsible for managing the CSR activities for all stakeholders,
market position and business values effectively. They are as important as other functional
units of business. Costa Coffee is able to implement effective management and leadership
practices within their internal environment to accomplish efficiency within operations. This
will help in creating a potential workforce that is useful in proving several benefits to people
to manage the CSR activities (Laudon and Laudon, 2016). Every organisation required to
improve their CSR activities and it can be achieved by implementing effective management
and leadership models, concepts and theories used in achieving desired goal and objectives of
business effectively.
6 Relationship with stakeholders and meeting their expectations
The only way from which the organisation is able to implement effective CSR activities
within its operations is through effective management of relationship with business
stakeholders. Stakeholders such as government, employees, investors, customers, society etc.
required to achieve values from business operational activities. It is very important to provide
satisfaction to business stakeholders to attract them towards brand to make operations more
efficient and effective. In this competitive world, it is very difficult for the management to
maintain business dynamics and relationship with its stakeholders. However, effective

relationship with stakeholders is beneficial for business in terms of delivering effective
results within operations and business unit to increase profitability. In addition, it is the
primary duty of every business to develop loyal and effective relationship with business
internal and external factors (Oostra, 2016). It is a traditional process followed by businesses
to create value for their business to enhance sustainability within market. Thus, Costa Coffee
must ensure that the relationship with stakeholders is managed effectively to meet their
expectations and provide satisfaction. It will also help in encouraging and developing
sustainable entrepreneurship and intraprenurship.
