This research paper delves into the enduring relevance of Ford and Taylor's management principles in contemporary organizations, highlighting their adaptability with technological advancements. It explores the evolution of globalization through various eras, emphasizing the concept of a 'flat world' and the implications of individual empowerment. The paper analyzes e-learning activities focusing on Ford and Taylorism, examining productivity, cost-effectiveness, and employee management. It further discusses globalization, its eras, and the 'flat world' phenomenon, addressing the integration of markets and communication systems. The dangers of a flat world, such as the rise of super-empowered individuals and increased global crime, are also considered. The paper concludes by asserting the continued validity of Taylor's principles and the transformative impact of globalization, while cautioning against the risks associated with unchecked individual empowerment.

Executive Summary
The principles of Ford and Taylor are still relevant in the organization and
managers still find it good to apply these principles for the sake of make
proceeds. There are principles that were seen as brutal but today it is
applicable in the organization when combined with technological changes
(Ford and Taylorism n.d).
On the other hand, globalization has transformed through a number of
eras to the point where the world get perceived as flat. The integration
seen has led to the tiny globalized flat world. The drawback of individual
globalization is the emergence of the super-empowered man who has no
border or governed by any law Friedman, 2017).
E-learning Activities
Week 1– Activity 1 – Ford and Taylorism
The key ideas are: Ways of doing work, Performance, Low cost,
Productivity and High wages.
In the video analysis, Taylor devised ways of doing work and introduced
line production in order to make work easier. The aspect of
standardization, methods and tools used to increase output, quality,
reduce cost and wastages are the principles employed. In coming up with
these principles, Taylor studied the way of doing work and rearranged
different works in groups and set up different points of production which
later became line production and hence assembly line. The assembly line
became relevant and is still applicable to date (Urick, Adams and Smith,
2017).
Taylor through the use of human labor emphasized on high production,
low cost and high wages. The combination of these constructs anchor well
because there is need in any entity to use minimum expenses for high
output so that profit is realized in the organization and as a result the
employees get remunerated well. Hard work is another aspect seen in the
video and Taylor point out those hard working employees get paid based
on the work done (Hoxie and Emerson, 2016).
Another apparent principle is to understand employee’s interest and
allowing them do that task in the best way and cheapest means possible.
This led to specialization of work along the assembly lines thus ensuring
quality of work. Additionally, Taylor called for obedience at work and
requires each employee to follow orders and rules. The idea of union and
creation of chaos at work was discouraged with punitive actions taken
upon any culpable employee (Holweg et al., 2018).
In my own view, the workers in Australia and other parts of the planet can
still acknowledge the leadership and direction of Taylor only if they are
allowed to be part the union that can voice their plight to management.

In respect to the design scripts used in call centres, Taylorism is apparent
because there is line production seen though the specialization of tasks
among call representatives. In this way, the high traffic of calls streaming
to the call centre gets handled fast and efficiently (Holweg et al., 2018).
Even though the world has moved and clip dates back 100 years ago,
there are many parts of the world that still require these ideas. The reason
is that Taylor principles still hold up to today. Standardization and
assembly line, manufacturing, the division of labor, employee
performance, motivation, productivity among other factors are still key in
every sector of the organization. Therefore, Taylor’s ideas and principles
are still valid for use in any part of the globe (Urick, Adams and Smith,
2017).
Week 2 – Activity 1 – Globalization, Eras of Globalization, World id
Flat
The key ideas are globalization, integration, iron rule and its drawbacks.
Globalization is a process that has seen markets, communication systems,
transport systems integrate to a point that have never happened in
history. This integration has facilitated nations, organizations and
countries to go further, deeper and cheaper. Globalization has passed
through colonization where countries colonize each other countries and
therefore the agent of globalization in the past was the country. However,
globalization has taken place through different eras from size large, size
medium, size small and tiny. These eras of globalization has seen
countries globalizing, companies globalizing and individuals globalizing.
This flattens the world in which it is seen that globalization gets build
around individuals (Friedman, 2015).
The dangers of living in a flat world as posited by Friedman are that there
is increase individual empowerment across borders with no state to
control. It has allowed people to carry out activities via the internet that
can destroy the world. The case of increased crimes like terrorism is
getting stronger and stronger due to availability of information and 9/11 is
the example of such a vice. It happened when no one was aware of when
and how it could happen up to the time it happened (Eriksen, 2014).
Additionally, the flat world is composed of a supermarket and a super
empowered individuals with powers that no nation or organization can
control. These people can either be happy or angry. When the later take
center stage, there is the danger of facing the anger of a super-
empowered individual (Friedman, 2015).
I agree with Friedman that the world is flat because of the iron rule.
According to Friedman, anything that can be done is done and can be
done by an individual or to an individual. This is because there is a lot of
innovation that is taking place currently and has facilitated any
undertaking to be possible through the internet. The internet is now a tool

of passing information to different parts of the globe thus breaking
through the walls of Berlin. The integration has led to the flat world where
everyone has to fight to survive by making connections, collaborating and
competing. The iron rule as asserted by Friedman awakens individuals.
(Freidmann, 2017).
The level of globalization a cross the world is uniform because of the
integration that facilitated by the World Wide Web. This has permitted
integration where people and organization are interwoven. This is because
an organizations and individual will only survive if they look for
connections and uses the power of the internet. The individuals in
particular think of themselves as collaborators, connectors and
competitors with other individuals around the world (Friedman, 2015).
Conclusion
Taylor set a precedence of doing work hundred years ago and the
principles still remain relevant to date. The assembly line of productivity is
apparent in most thriving organizations. Additionally, work division, low
cost, quality of work and high wages are the factors that lead to high
productivity in the organization.
The integration seen through globalization has brought tremendous
changes in the world in terms of the World Wide Web bringing in benefits
as well as drawbacks. The creation of the super-markets and super-man
poses great dangers to the current world as individual globalization
continues to take centre stage with no remedy.
