Introduction
From the different module topics that I have covered over the past weeks, I have learned
various things that I trust shall be essential in not only practicing my career but also in other
aspects of life. Going through topics related to various factors concerning management was
fundamental to me because it enhanced my knowledge concerning some of the things I have
been wanting to know over the years.
Module 1.1 the nature of organizations, the role of management and challenges
This was an important topic because it played a crucial role in enabling me to understand
the role played by management organizations and challenges which managers experience while
undertaking their management roles. Some of the important content included helping me
understand that management plays different roles in businesses such as monitoring, liaising,
leading, resource allocations among others.
The topic is relevant to me in the fact that it shall assist me to undertake my management
duties in the right manner. According to Mattone (2013), understanding one's role is crucial
because it makes the person to know what he/she is supposed to do, and therefore minimizes
negligence of duties. Understanding the challenges faced by managers is crucial because it
informs me of what I should expect and how I can overcome the barriers towards successful
execution of duties.
Over the years, I have been trying to understand the role played by managers in
organizations and because I have never been in an active work environment I have been having

will be crucial in my workplace because it shall assist me to ensure I undertake all management
roles in the right manner to ensure my organization attains its goals
Module 1.2 motivation, influence, power and politics
In this topic, there is important content concerning employee motivation, how managers
and other leaders influence employees in an organization, and also the influence of power and
politics in the workplace. The topic is important because as a leader, one must understand the
various ways of making employees to view hard work as crucial for the success of their
organizations.
The topic is relevant to me because it relates to my area of my specialization. Influencing
employees to work is something which cannot be ignored especially for managers who want to
direct an organization towards attaining its goals (Mattone, 2013). Therefore, going through
these factors is crucial in enabling me to understand its basics.
In my life, I have always known that relating well with people, not only in workplaces
but also in other aspects of life is one of the ways which can make them to have a positive
attitude towards work. I have also been motivating people in different areas and therefore I have
an experience in some of the aspects covered in this topic.
From the content, I have learned that there are different methods of motivating employees
and the choice should depend on various factors such as the capability of the organization, the

The content contained in this topic majorly concerns communicating and especially in
regard to conflicts and negotiations in organizations. According to Berman (2014),
communication in an organization is crucial because it drives various things that are essential in
the workplace. The topic is important because it enlightens on the importance of communication
and what organizations should do to avoid conflicts and to attain successful negotiations.
The topic is relevant to me because it connects with various other subjects in this course.
Understanding this topic is essential because it will make me to also understand past and future
topics, and will also play a key role in assisting me to practice my career in the right manner.
Over the years, I have always believed that communication is crucial in the workplace
because it makes the management and staff members to understand each other, hence minimizing
the chances of conflicts. I have also been involved in various conflict resolutions and therefore I
have some knowledge concerning what is conflict and how it can be solved.
