Past Leadership style Present Leadership Style Future leadership style
Wa-pila Hotels used to follow autocratic
leadership style that included the one
command from the manager. The employees
of the hotel has to follow the instructions of
the manager and perform accordingly. This
made the one line hierarchy and led to the
domination and discrimination of managers
over the employees. This style was beneficial
initially but later it created dissatisfaction in
the minds of the employees and led to the
decline in employee's potential, performance
and increase the employee turnover ratio.
Wa-pila Hotels is using currently the
democratic leadership style in which the
employees participate and suggest their
reviews in the important decisions of the hotel.
However, the power of decision-making lies in
the hands of manager but discussion is held
within the employees. This has made the
employees being a part of the organization and
improved their productivity and led to the
development of creative ideas in them.
However, this style too has many drawbacks
as the decision is made while considering the
objectives of the company and the orders of
upper level personnel even though after
discussing it with the employees.
In future to improve the performance and growth of the
organization, it is necessary for Wa-pila Hotels to adopt
Lassiez faire leadership style which includes the employees
making the decisions of the company and the manager is only
present to monitor and guide them Here the employees uses
their skills and experience to perform the tasks accordingly
and also uses their creative ideas to frame different strategies
for work performance as well. This style will be suitable for
Wa-pila hotels when it consists enough of experienced
employees who are experts in their jobs and could use their
skills to deal with all the issues in the work activities
themselves.
