INTRODUCTION
The management is an important function which is associated with entire working facet
of organisation. It is related to getting things done from others through people and efforts of
individual are directed for achieving common objective. By using the available resources
efficiently and effectively the desired goals and objectives are accomplished (Harris, and et. al.,
2021). The management function involves planning, organising, staffing, directing and
controlling in the aim of achieving a goal. This is an continuous and pervasive function for the
organisation. The report is being in four parts. In first it covers advantages and disadvantage of
various organisation structure with business functions and responsibilities. In task 2 marketing
function is discussed with other functions. In Task 3 management functions is explained and
lastly it covers importance of talent management in organisation.
Task 1 Management structure and business functions
1) Advantages and disadvantage of different types of organisational structure.
The organisation structure defines to system which describes how certain activities are
directed for achieving the organisation goals. The activities involves roles, responsibilities and
rules along with this it helps in determining hoe information flows among level within company.
There are different types of organisation structure-
Functional structure- It starts with the position of high level of responsibility from top
to down and employees are unionised with their special ability and its similar function.
Independently each department is managed (Feskens, 2021).
Advantage- The employees are allowed to focus on their role and specialisation is
encouraged.
Disadvantage- This hampers the interdepartmental communication and creates silos
with an organisation.
Divisional structure- The corporate department is in control of its own resources as each
department has its own marketing team, sales team, IT team, etc. for the large companies
it works well as organisation is divided based on specific product or services, market and
geographies.
Advantage- This helps large companies in flexibility and allows quick response to
customer needs.

Disadvantage- It easily leads to duplicate resources and have decentralised decision
making. It can also result in company competing with itself.
Matrix structure- This looks like a grid in which employees with similar skills are
grouped and reporting to more than one manager. This structure is used by large
organizations and encourages the sharing of skills and knowledge between departments
to achieve goals (Buhalis, 2022).
Advantage- It gives more dynamic view and employees are encouraged to use their
skills in several capacities. This also offers flexible environment.
Disadvantage- The confusion is created about authority which leads to conflict
between departments managers and project managers.
2) Defining business function and their responsibilities.
It defines to the activities that are carried by an administration and can be separated as
core and support functions. The core business functions involves organisation activities yielding
income. They are primary activity and involves production of goods and services. The support
business functions are ancillary activities which is carried by an organisation for facilitating the
cote functions (Acharya and Mabood, 2021). This functions are responsible for dividing task
and jobs into several functions for allowing organisational effectiveness and efficiency. It is
divided into four business functions-
Operations- It is responsible for producing goods and services by converting raw
materials into outputs and ensures adequate resources are available for production.
Human resources- This is responsible for managing employees by involving workforce
needs, recruiting and selecting employees with right qualifications, training and
development for encouraging employees.
Marketing- It is responsible for market research, sales activities by identifying customer
needs and wants and appropriate marketing mix is developed for satisfying them.
Task 2 Marketing function and relation to its success
1) Discussing how marketing works with other business functions for organisation success.
The marketing function is an specialised activity which is performed in marketing. This
role helps the company in identifying and potential sources for successful products in
marketplace they operate and promotes by differentiating from similar products. For the

company it is one of basic functional department. The marketing relation with other department
are as follows-
Marketing and finance- There is close working for ensuring to have adequate budget for
meeting the needs for research, promotion and distribution. The financing department
ensures that business operates with financial capabilities and focuses on cash flow, costs
and investments (Li, and et. al., 2021).
Marketing and human resource- This work closely for ensuring correct skills and
staffing levels for meeting production targets, creating competent sales team. The HR is
related with recruitment and training demands for balancing obligation to marketing with
those departments.
Task 3 Management functions and how they manage business
1) Different management functions and their responsibilities
The certain fundamentals functions are used by management for having efficient
management which is called as managerial functions. The management functions are as follows-
Planning- It deals with forthcoming course of action by deciding in advance. The ways
are determined which needs to be practised and objectives that company can attain for its
growth.
Organising- The productive relationship is developed for achieving organisational goals
by bringing together physical, financial and human resources.
Staffing- The organizational structure is controlled by the correct and effective selection,
assessment and development of personnel for filling structurally designed roles. It
includes human resource planning, compensation, promotion and transfer (Samson,
Garud and Gloet, 2021).
Directing- It actuates the organisational methods for efficiently working for achieving
organisation goals. It is an inter personnel aspect which deals directly with influencing,
guiding, supervising and motivating.
Controlling- This measures the accomplishment against standards and deviations are
corrected for ensuring organisational goals.

2) Two of the above functions are discussed in detail with there responsibility that help in the
success of a business organisation in the following points :
Planning- This is a prime activity in management where manager plans to meet company
goals and objectives by allocating employees resources and responsibilities are delegated.
The advance planning is made which helps in decision-making and problem solving. For
achieving desired goals the future course of action is determined.
Organising- After the plan is prepared the team is organised. It has two important
element of assigning work and granting authority. In the organised structure human and
non-human resources are determined which involves the process of identifying activities,
classifying grouping activity, assigning duties, delegating and coordinating authority.
Task 4 Talent management and organisational culture
1) Role of HR in relation to talent management
Talent management is an important part of HR's workforce management strategy that
needs to be focused. All recruiting, hiring, and retention activities take this type of management
into account in order to retain the talented employees. Talent management focuses on specific,
and day-to-day activities that is overseen by HR teams. The different roles of the HR department
promote talent management in the following ways:
Recruiting- The talent management relationship is about hiring the right people. Key
recruiting processes support this effort by carefully defining job descriptions, using an
applicant tracking system to manage the workflow of the interview process, and carefully
interviewing applicants to select the high performing candidates (Theodore and
Theodore, 2021).
Performance management- After hiring it is crucial to have correct process for
managing them. The HR technology can helps in tracking productivity and performance
in areas such as time and attendance. Between management and staff the regular review
process helps in keeping open lines of communication.
2) Defining organisational culture and impact of positive culture on organisation success.
The corporate culture defines the exact behaviour in the organization by encompassing
common beliefs and values that have been established by executives. The culture creates the
environment in the organization and influences the type of long-term plans that lead the

organization towards its vision. Culture also dictates the guidelines and processes that enable the
organization to live out its mission every day. This tells how to behave properly within a
company, taking into account the beliefs, values and ethics of the relatives or just the manager.
The effects of identifying culture are enormous. These are defined in different types such as
hierarchical and market culture. A positive corporate culture is based on convictions and the
consideration of the respective market, which offers employees and customers a relationship of
trust and directly contributes to winning customers and increasing employee productivity.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it was concluded that management is an art used in many aspects
of life and a business organization. This management is included in almost all factors and
activities carried out in a business unit. This is a large topic broken down into many different
parts to understand deeply and implement for the company's growth. There are business
functions like sales and marketing that are not only focused on their work but also related to
other business functions.
