Principles of Management 2
The challenge of teamwork failure and the possible solutions to the challenge
Introduction
Teamwork is a necessity in every business achievement. It enhances the sharing of
information through interaction and the development of strategies that enhance business
growth (McEwan, Ruissen & Ey’s et al, 2017, 1). This can be seen through the success
achieved following the teamwork between Peter, Sandy, and Josh. The trio is able to share
ideas and develop strategies that lead to the growth of the business. Failure of teamwork in an
organization results to challenges in the company activities. This has been illustrated in the
report where the three stakeholders separated and started working on their own. As a result of
the split up, the manager was unable to settle the challenges facing the vigor company on his
own. He wished that Sandy and Josh were present to help him develop strategies that would
solve the challenges. The paper reviews the challenges involved with team failure and the
possible solution to the challenges. It also gives an insight into the implementation of the
solutions in a business organization.
Case analysis
Effects of teamwork failure in an organization
Failure of teamwork in an organization is a detrimental factor that ruins the productivity of
the organization. Among the key challenges involved with team failure include; lack of
communication, lack of focus on solving the challenges facing the groups and poor service
delivery (Stary, Moe & Dingsoyr, 2017, 147). The various problems have been illustrated in
the report where the communication between Peter, Sandy, and Josh fades. As a result of the
failure, the team is no longer focused on finding solutions to the existing company problems
as was the case during the reawakening process of the business. The previous administration
ignored contributions from Sandy that were aimed at solving the company’s problems. In
return, the problems developed into a crisis that affected the business performance in the
market. This led to the fall of the company following the production of low quality goods.
Similarly, the business is developing a problem in its sales sector following poor
communication. This is causing a stunted growth in the business due to low demand resulting
in low revenue.
The company production is also affected due to a low performance by the employees who
have been demoralized by the slow business growth process (Gamil & Rahman, 2017, 239).

This can be illustrated using Sandy who has developed a habit of reporting to work late and
absenteeism in the business meetings.
The division also affects the business decision making since the managers tend to solve the
challenges on their own without involving the other stakeholders (Yoerger, Crowe & Allen,
2015, 4). This negatively affects the business in that the management is concerned with the
development of the business other than solving the internal challenges in the business field.
This often affects the production process since the employees are demotivated by the
administration’s failure to address their issues. This is clearly developed in the report where
Peter makes decisions on his own without consulting the other stakeholders. The effect of his
decision can be seen through the laxity developed by the employees. The laxity may result
from a lack of attention to their demands by the administration. The failure of teamwork have
severe impacts to an organization and may lead to its collapse if not addressed. Companies,
therefore, have the responsibility of developing strategies that will enhance interdependence
and cohesion in their working environments.
The recommended solution to the problems
Organizations have developed various strategies in addressing the communication problem in
their businesses. Among the strategies recommended include; increasing communication and
dialogues in the company. This was illustrated in the initial development process of the
organization where Peter, Sandy and Josh used to frequently meet to develop strategies that
enhanced the business growth. The aim of this strategy is to improve the interaction between
the management and the employees in a business organization.
The strategy is also set to offer a platform for the employees to give their views on business
development and the possible solutions to the problems facing the company. Sandy and Josh
were given the opportunity to give their advice on business matters and their ideas resulted in
business development and growth.
In addition, the managers get a chance to distribute information concerning the organization
that may be of benefit to the employees (Conrad, 2014, 105). As a result, the employees are
able to understand the business goals and the role they are to play in the goal realization.
Peter was able to inform Sandy and Josh of their responsibilities in the business and they
performed their responsibilities as expected. More so, the awareness develops commitment
and motivation among the employees.

Principles of Management 4
Furthermore, the organization has advocated for frequent meetings involving the business
stakeholders. The meetings are aimed at finding solutions to the problems facing the
company. The company has scheduled a series of meetings that are aimed at developing a
good relationship between the management and the employees. This ensures a smooth
running of the business activities and enhances the good relationship between the
management and the employees.
Implementation and follow up
First, the company has developed a strategy where it undertakes meeting to inform its various
stakeholders in the organization of its changes. The step helps create awareness among the
various stakeholders. As a result, the business is ready for a shift following the awareness.
The step also helps in curbing resistance that could result from the unpreparedness of the
stakeholders to accept change in their various fields (Husain, 2013, 44). In addition,
companies have undertaken to give information on the responsibilities of the employees in
the new business environment. This helps curb the conflicts that may arise following poor
delivery due to unawareness of the expected result in the various responsibilities. The
continued interaction between the management and the employees helps create a conducive
working environment and enhances teamwork in the business. This can be achieved through
the series of meetings scheduled by the organization. Business should keep observing the
changes in the company where the management will be able to realize a challenge at its initial
stage. This will help in the drafting of strategies that will help solve the challenge before it
develops into a serious crisis. Peter has kept a track on the business performance and he can
identify a problem and find a solution. As a result, business targets are attained enhancing
development and business survival.
Conclusion
Researchers have indicated that teamwork is necessary for the realization of success in any
business sector (Akindele, 2012, 2). Therefore, business should focus on enhancing
teamwork in their business fields. The company should enforce good communication that
will help in the development of teamwork by enhancing healthy interactions within the
organization. In addition, organizations should develop ways of solving business challenges
that will help in creating a good business environment. The development of the strategies will
help in creating motivation and creating an environment that will lead to the achievement of
the business goal.
