INTRODUCTION
Employability can be briefed as the capability of receiving and keeping satisfactory
work. The employees of the organisation are allotted some role which they have to perform
and in return of it they get decided wages. It can be said that employability is about training
the staff and developing various skills in them so that they can work effectively and produce
better outcomes. The success of the candidates depends on the employability skills he has
thus it can be said that it is the set of achievements, understandings and self attributes that
ensure employability to a candidate (Ragonese and et. al., 2014). It is not necessary that a
successful person at a specific workforce will see high trends everywhere as there is variation
in the working environment in different sectors. This report highlights that how a person can
deal with the various situation coming in their way during any sort of working at their
workplace. With the employability skills which he develops through his learning and
experience makes him flexible in handling any difficult crisis conditions.
TASK 1
1.1 Own set of responsibilities and performance objectives.
Job specification highlights the responsibility of an individual and the briefs about the job
in which he has to play his role. The employer of the company wants to achieve the goals and
targets so that specific roles and skills are highlighted by him. If the employee performs the
employability skills which is required, then the organisation will able to increase their
revenues as well as the profit will also be increased. The employer does not only have the
role of looking at the hiring process but he also needs to look at the duties towards acquiring
all the requirements of task performance (O'Neil, 2014). All the employees are given certain
tasks which they have to complete in the specific time period by using their skills and
knowledge which they possess. In this they also need to considered the quality standard set
by the organisation and if they do not follow it there might be chances that the organisation
can terminate him. I am employed in one of the hotel named as Travelodge at the post of
Manager. It is my duty to provide best facilities to the guests which are coming in the hotel.
Through ensuring that all the functions are performed well they can achieve all the goals and
objectives.

There are various responsibilities on me which I need to perform in effective so that the
hotel in which I am working can see new hikes in their profits. To ensure that proper
communication is there among the staff of Travelodge hotel I try to coordinate with them. It
is necessary for the manager to make sure that they have good relation with the employees so
that any dispute arising in the hotel can be easily resolved (Benson, Morgan and Filippaios,
2014). More profitability and productivity can be gained through ensuring that the resources
available with the organised and managed and utilised in better way. I need to ensure that
according to my skills and capabilities I am able to achieve all the goals and objective in
particular time period. Manager has an important role to play in the company so he engages
himself in various meetings and develop a strategic plan thus emphasising on the growth of
the hotel. While framing the policies I will ensure that all the laws framed by the government
are taken care of. Conducting motivation programs can be considered as the best way to
encourage the employees thus increasing their moral.
As a manager at Travelodge hotel performance objective is to develop proper
communication skills in the behaviour so that I could guide other people effectively. I will be
putting my efforts to improve my presentation skills and set performance standard. I will
ensure that I work with full dedication and make sure that I follow the laws framed by the
government and the organisational culture (Jackson, 2014) . All these are performance goal
and as I have been allotted the responsibility to take care of the working of the hotel and fro
that I need to develop a participating nature in the meetings which I attend. If I do so I will
easily able to put forward different issues in front of the directors of the hotel. I will also
focus on grooming my personality in a way that it attracts the customers coming in the hotel.
To what are the expenses which are coming and how the resources are used I will learn
different accounting methods.
1.2 Own effectiveness against the set targets.
It can be analysed that I need to go through several stages in order to bring new skills in
me and the one phase which I need to take care of is the effectiveness of the targets which I
have set. The goals which are concerned with the performance can be achieved through it.
From this my weakness can be overlooked or can be improved thus helping me in
maintaining the strengths (Maurerand Mawdsley, 2014). The responsibilities which has been
allotted to me will be evaluated through certain skills and capabilities which I have.

To gain proper picture I will try to try to analyse myself thus this will answer my question
that what are the changes and skills I have acquired after the training program. Thus giving
me the clear picture of the effectiveness of my performance in particular task. I am well
aware of the fact that I don’t feel much difficult in resolving any dispute as I solve them
through the use of creative and critical techniques (Deeley, 2014). Decision taking is the
ability which can be improved through brainstorming process.
The most important skills which I need to acquire is the communication skills because as
a manager I have to deal with lots of individuals. To know my performance for this, I will be
looking to the performance of the employees and take the feedback from the directors of the
hotel. To see some more improvement, I will interact more with the consumers and will be
participating in the development plan.
1.3 Recommendation for improving the skills.
I well aware that if I want to see my growth in the organisation I need to improve my
performance and for this it needs to ensured that suitable training and development
program is required to be selected. Thus the goals and targets concerned with the
performance can be attained in proper way. Through inspecting and analysing myself and
my performance I can say that I am little bit introvert which is affecting my presentation
skills. To see the improvement in this I can look for the development program which is
the best option available with me. The program will increase my moral level thus
boosting my confidence. The advantage of this is that this will make me flexible in
handling different conditions.
If I have the better presentation skills, I will able to guide the teams and the staff
through developing a good leadership style. If my confidence level will be high, I will easily
able to express my thoughts to the directors of the hotel. To see myself as a better performing
manager I will take more and more part in the business meeting under the directors of the
hotel Travelodge thus increasing my moral (Rao, 2014). To see more benefits participation in
problem solving, reasoning exercises and other brainstorming concepts will bring more
benefits. Creativity can be developed through it and the decision making process will also
give better outcomes. It is known that with the better communication skills lots of people can
be reached and the actual condition can be known. This will give me insight that what are the
factors which are hampering the growth of the hotel and what all things need to be done to
improve it. Training programs ensures that I will be learning new things from it like how to

manage and work with a team. This will give me new skills to decide which kind of
employees should be assigned different tasks. It is known that to achieve any goals the
employees needs to be encouraged and for that I need to make them realise the importance of
working in a team and unity.
1.4 Techniques concerned with the motivation to improve the performance.
Almost everyone is aware of the fact that no function can be performed well if the
members who are part of these does not have any motivation. To bring efficiency in the work
it is necessary that their moral has to be boosted. The motivation for different people vary due
to variation in the interest and needs. The motivation factors can be concerned with the
financial benefits or any non-monetary remuneration. The reason behind this is that the
motivation is directly have to due to with the confidence and passion. If any employee who
are working on a task with full confidence, then he or she will be definitely gain confidence.
The business achieving strategies is directly concerned with the performance objectives. The
Maslow theory briefs that if the individual is performing well the reason behind is to attain all
the basic desires (White, 2017). The main reason for their work is to make sure that they get
house & food, need of safety & security, sociological needs, estimated desires and wants of
self-actualisation. It is analysed that the two factors like motivation and the hygiene food are
the two things which are behind the performance of a particular person. So the individual
who are looking for to achieve the goals and objectives they need to make sure that they
handle and manages both of them thus maintaining a relation both of them. There are certain
motivational factors for me with working as managers in the hotel Travelodge.
Financial Motivational: - In any organisation this is considered as the main factors
for motivation because the staff gives their contribution to the organisation if they receive
some kind of money (Suleman, 2017). I know with it I can easily contribute more in the
organisation growth. The motivation through the financial resources can be given in the form
of incentives and this will be given when the employees will be contributing well. Other than
this the benefits can be in the form of bonus, car and houses. All these are the key things to
increase the motivation level.
Recognition: - To ensure that the staff puts more efforts in doing the work in
effective way it is necessary that he should be given some kind of recognition.
Certificates, awards and rewards are the things which can be considered as from of

motivation to the employees. With this the moral of the manager will increase because
they think that his work will be valued.
Status: - It is analysed that if the employees will be performing well then they will
get reputation of the idea employee. So I will try my best to work above my capabilities
and will try to accomplish all the tasks given to me.
Participation: - In a team working, an individual gave more its contribution if they
know that what are the expectation of the organisation and what are the things which can be
done. I have the option of taking help from colleague who are working with me as they can
help me when I need help. Through it I will try to work with more enthusiasm and unity
which assists in achieving performance standards effectively (Spence and Hyams-Ssekasi,
2015).
Competition: - There has been increase in the competition as almost everyone desires
for better job. So to beat them and to be an effective employee I need to develop certain
skills in me which can bring motivation. If I will not follow the trend I cannot achieve the
growth.
TASK 2
2.1 Work Based Problem.
In the business environment a company perform certain functions so that they easily
fulfil the demands of the market. It is required that they should have employees who can
work from them and bring revenues to them through their contribution. The staff which is
working in the organisation should have some employability skills according to the tasks
which they have to do. To ensure that all their targets are achieved they have made complex
working structure and it can also happen that the firm is not able to attain the goals thus
facing the issue of work based problem (Dowling and et.al., 2015). This is happening
because the employees are not able to deliver as per the expectations. Following are the work
based problems faced by the Travelodge: -
Organisation Structure: - Those companies who faces the high turnover issue faces
the work based problem. There has been a great confusion in the minds of staff about the
tasks which they have to do and they are also not distributed properly. This is the reason the
staff has been not performing well thus impacting the profit margins of the organisation. The
problem of miscommunication has been seen because responsibilities distribution is clashing

with large structure of the company. Travelodge can introduce a platform where the
communication can be done properly and effectively (O’Connor and Bodicoat, 2017). They
have to allocate the tasks in better manner according to the function which has to be done
thus reduces the overcoming of the functions.
Employee Turnover Rate: - The organisation which are part of the hospitality
industry is facing the issue of higher employee turnover because they are not able to retain
their staff. Low remuneration, better growth opportunities, working conditions and
competitors are the factors behind this issue. This is the issue which needs to be noticed and
resolved in time and for this the manager has to put forward the suggestion of increasing the
remuneration amount, monetary and non-monetary benefits.
2.2 Various Communication styles at different stages.
If an organisation wants to attain success in the implementation of the strategies, they
need to emphasis on communication system. With the proper communication channel, they
can bring a coordination between various department of the company. It is necessary to
ensure that they are using a communicative which is effective for almost every level on the
company. For the employees who are at lower level so for them they can prefer face to face
interaction. The higher level authority can connect through informal communication. Mail
and letters are the things which can be selected for middle level staff. The other option
available to them is the concept of meeting and seminars. In order to ensure that the external
members also get some sort of preferences in the organisation various things like blogs,
newsletter and higher authority can also be communicated through video conferencing.

2.3 Effective time management Strategy.
As a part of the hospitality sector it becomes necessary for the Travelodge hotel to do
their all operations in time. So after keeping this thing in mind they have framed a strategy to
manage time of the employees in the hotel. If they gain success in following this strategy they
can increase the productivity and profitability. For this the manager has started to inspect the
working of the staff and the concept behind this is that they are trying to analyse the total
time taken by the staff in completing the task given to him. Such this will assist them in
knowing the effectiveness of the employee (Peterson, 2016). It should be followed on time as

through it they can coordinate with all the functions according to the performance of the staff
on the on the basis of it. Manager also ensure that no employees is involved in the two task at
single time as if it is also the quality of the work will go down. Manager is also ensuring that
there is no wastage of the time which is done on the calling and other operations from the
external area.
TASK 3
3.1 Contribution of individual in a team work.
The coordination is an utmost necessity of business working in hospitality industry.
Every task in the business operations of hospitality sectors need to be coordinated in
systemised manner to come up with positive and profitable results. Working in team leads to
sharing of workloads which provides ease to the individual members to perform task more
efficiently. Each members of team possess a different set of skills and capability which plays
an important role in accomplishing Travelodge goals and objectives more efficiently. The
team members share important information in relation to their working and objectives to be
achieved. This contributes in working efficiently in workplace and contributing to higher
satisfaction level of customers of Travelodge Company by delivering quality services to them
and ultimately adds on firm profitability (Yang, and et. al., 2015). Individual plays an
important role in accomplishing his task objectives passionately and more responsibly while
working in team which in enhanced the quality of work and increase performance standards
of team work. These all aspects of team work contribute in higher profitability of business
firm in marketplace.
3.2 Analysis of team dynamics.
Tuckman defined a model which studies about the different stages of team dynamics
in order to analyse the functioning and nature of team development more appropriately. This
Tuckmen’s model of team dynamic briefs about the developmental stages of a team and how
the performances of team can be involved and controlled at various levels of team
development. Forming stage is where all team members get to know about each other and
start understanding each member. Storming is the stage of conflicts where there are disputes
between ideas and thoughts of different team members. This is most unstable stage of the
team dynamics development. While the norming stage is identified by the more integration
and coordination in the work of members (Collet, Hine and du Plessis, 2015). The individual
starts encouraging each other and sharing of thoughts and ideas takes place at this stage.

While the last stage of team dynamic defined in Tuckman model. This is the stage where

and objectives of team.
3.3 Alternate ways to attain team goals.

as well as for team working. The managers should empower every individual of team so that
they can be productive and participate actively in decision making process for team
efficiency. Team empowerments will bring independency in functioning which will
contribute in increased confidence level of team members (Sarkar and et. al., 2016).
Feedback: The management should review all the feedbacks more responsibly in relation
with team working. As this will help in identifying various needs of group and members to
work as per the gaols and objectives of team.
TASK 4
4.1 Tools and techniques for resolving the issues.
Complicated conflicts and issues coming in the way can be resolved by Travelodge
through certain tools and techniques. They are aware of the fact that such disputes and
conflicts hamper the growth of the organisation as well as they also bring downfall in the
public image of the hotel. These all influence the profits so they need to understand the
importance of management and resolve the issues in quick time through tools and techniques.
Mathematics: - The issues of the Travelodge can be solved through this technique as
with it issues related to algorithm can be easily solved. This can be a great help in
solving the accounting problem this managed in better way because no other

result of the issue which has been prevailing in the company.
Trial and error technique: - Through it with the help of this hotel can know various

practically executing the things and this also brings benefits to them because there
will be less chances of failure of the plan which is developed by the Travelodge hotel
(Lim, and et. al., 2016)
Heuristics: - It can be said that there are lots of things or issues which although looks
easy and simple but there is involvement of various complicated provisions involved
in it. For such issue the experts are appointed to solved the conflicts or any issue thus
this will be the tool or technique which will be used here.
4.2 Suitable strategic plan for resolution of issue of labour turnover.
It has been analysed that the workers of the Travelodge hotel is not happy with the
working environment they are getting it. Organisation culture is the one thing which is
affecting their image and thus staff are also not able to perform well. Such thing encourages
more and more staff to leave their job from the hotel thus leading to increase in the cases of
employee turnover. If they are looking forward to resolve this so for that they have to
introduce a new communication system to platform through with staff can put their views and
opinion. It is the duty of the manager to ensure that the employees are aware of the changes
going in the organisation thus including them in the decision making. Through introduction
of feedback system, the problem faced by the manager can be known by the manager.
4.3 Impact of the strategic implementation on organisation.
The introduction of the new strategy has showed a lot of changes in Travelodge hotel.
It has helped them gaining motivation and work more efficiently. Adoption of the right
behaviour with the consumer will make them motived and satisfied which has been possible
only through attaining the interest of the employees. After the adopting the concept of
promotion of the employees at the hotel this has directly impacted their moral and thus
increase in the value (Messum, Wilkes and Jackson, 2015).. This has been set on the criteria
of performance as those who are performing well has been given some sort of appraisal. It
has been observed that hospitality is the sector which has tough competitive for the player
which are part of it so Travelodge hotel if needs to survive in this they have to make sure that
