2.1Assessing own management skills
performance
For working as a general manager at Dorchester Luxury hotels, I
believe that I possess list of skills including management, cognitive,
creative, technical, leadership, organizing as well as planning skills.
These are my capabilities that will enable me to deliver quality
services as a prospective manager to the organization cited here.
Management skills are basic requirements that will enable me to
manage number of activities that will be taken within cited
organization. Managing different functions requires detailed
understanding of theories and concepts of management, that I have
acquired by undertaking research of concept of management with
respect to hospitality business.

Cognitive skills: This includes determining level of awareness
for receiving information and details by an human being. I
have higher level of concentration , that enables my brain to
focus on an event and obtain important inferences from the
same.
Super reasoning skills: This will enable me to provide a brief
explanation of various activities that will be conducted under
my supervision. I am very much innovative, that will enable
me to come with new ideas on regular basis for aligning with
changing conditions of travel and tourism segment. I will be
able to keep myself indulged with researching for finding out
need for change within different functional departments as
list of factors underpin overall change taking place at regular
interval (Galliers, R. D. and Leidne, 2014).

Motivational skills: I also have required knowledge for application and usage of
technological tools and methods. I will thereby be able to provide necessary
guidelines to my subordinates for exploiting benefits of information
technology. Subordinates working under my supervision will be motivated to
perform better and enhance their career. Promotion of brand image will be
done by having constant interaction with our clients through social media.
Communicative skills: I will promote my image as as efficient communicator. I
can easily transfer various information and details from top to bottom and
bottom to top level. Providing effective direction to various subordinates will
enable myself to build my image as that of a good mentor and advisor. Most
importantly, as if I will be designated as a general manager, I will be
responsible for effectively planning various activities and organizing each of
them in appropriate series of work flow. I therefore have a higher level of
confidence that I will be recognized as an capable managerial personnel for
enabling Dorchester Hotel in achieving targeted goals of securing prominent
position in global hospitality environment.

2.2 SWOT analysis
SWOT analysis is an abbreviation for Strength, Weakness,
Opportunity and Threats. It is an analysis mainly taken to analyse
personal skills and weaknesses. Gaining a knowledge about
weaknesses can enable an individual to convert them into strengths
by exploiting various career opportunities.
Strenghths Weaknesses
Positive thinking: Having a broad
minded thinking which allows me to
accept difference in ideologies of
different people. This has allowed me
to build my image as that of a positive
person.
Time management skills: I usually
require longer period of time, for
making important decisions as I get
confused due to lack of experience.

Constant learning: Having a liking for
researching about new things within
business context and try to align myself
with that. This helps me to adjust myself
within new business environment.
Gaining practical experience: Lack of
expertise in hospitality industry restraints me
from completing task assigned on time (Egan,
G., 2013).
Resources I possess:
I have attained specialization in hospitality
skills with a masters degree.
I have a long track experience in hospitality
sector and have contacts with professionals and
experts working within same field.
Areas in which I have fewer resources:
Emotional Intelligence: I often get distracted
from my work if someone tries to pull my
dedication for work. This restricts me from
building strong relationship with various
employees.
Other people think that:
I am very much self confident . I like to
interact with people who have a long track
record of working within hospitality industry
(Bozarth and Handfield, 2016).
I can present things in an attractive manner so
that effective presentation can promote various
plans designed.
Other people see my weakness in:
Issue management: I lack behind in
managing issues that often lead to conflict
taking place due to difference of opinion of
people having different ideologies.

I will be able to deal with chefs
specialized in different international cuisines.
I will get an opportunity to gather
information on taste and preference of people
having different cultural origins.
Threats that could damage my ambitions
or career prospect
Severe competition prevailing within
cited industry, can endanger my career due to
lack of experience in hotel industry.
Turning weaknesses into strength:
I will participate in number of campaigns to
explore new areas within hospitality sector. I
will thereby get many chances to work out on
my weaknesses.
Threats that will arise because of the
personal areas of weaknesses
Employers have a wide list of options to
select from number of skilled and
efficient human resource. I will therefore
have to work on weaknesses mentioned
above, to promote my overall personnel
growth. If I fail in dealing with same,
there are possibilities that my career
development will be restricted to a greater
extent.

2.3 Set and prioritise objectives
and targets to develop own
potential
 In order to have sustainable development and effective accomplishment of goals
and objectives the business firm like Dorchester Luxury Hotel need to focus on
diverse stages. It means by having understanding of diverse stages I can have
improvement in skills and accomplishment of objectives.
 Improved focus on research and identification of needs is significant to consider for
organisation.
 Analysis of skills among supervisor is also necessary to understand the potential
growth.
 Collective working can also be advanced for sustainable development.
