To manage the business properly there are different management styles which can be followed.
Highlighting the management practices here is the discussion of different styles of management.
Classical Theory Approach
This theory works in a traditional way and focuses more on the organization rather than the
development of employees (Landau, 2013). It detects the error and works for its correction and
completes all the commitments. It emphasis more on the amount of output than the development
of the employees. In this theory, the manager directs the employees in achieving the goals
according to the policies of an organization. It follows the centralized and integrated system and
the authority and controls lies in the hands of the central authority only.
Scientific Management Theory
This theory was developed by FW Taylor, it is the systematic study of people and their
behaviour. The major concern of the scientific management theory is improving economic
efficiency and increase the productivity of an organization (Oana,2018). This theory applied the
science in management and using scientific methods in resolving the problems.
Modern Organization Theory
The modern organization theory consists of the concept of the classical model with social
responsibility and behavioural science. An organization is a system that needs the changes with
the change in the working environment of an organization as well as the change in the external
environment of the market (Dierksmeier and Pirson, 2010). It is very necessary to interact with
the outer world for the continuous growth of an organization.

In the early 1920s during the industrial revolution the human relation theory was developed
(Nadel, 2013). The human relationship management theory described that the people want to be
a part of a team that is supportive and helps in the development and growth. Employees of any
organization don't need only monetary incentives but they also want satisfaction from other
social and psychological needs.
1.2 DISCUSS LEADERSHIP CHARACTERISTICS
Leadership is the process that influenced the behaviour of others to work willingly for the
accomplishment of the predetermined goals of the organization. Leadership is the quality which

inspire and motivate the team to work more efficiently and effectively. A true leader always
thinks first about the team and the accomplishment of the common goal. Leadership is an
important factor for making any organization successful. The characteristics of a good leader are
as follows:

Verbal communication uses language and words for the transmission of the message. The verbal
communication can be in an oral or written form which is discussed below:
Written Communication: Written communication is the communication which is in
written form or can say that it is the formal way of exchanging the information from one
person to another.
Oral Communication: It is the most common and the very used way of communication
among the people. Oral communication can be direct or indirect and this is one of the

Non-verbal Communication
Non-verbal communication is the communication which is done through facial expression and
body language (Knapp el at., 2013). It is the most common and the typical form of way to

concept and the new ideas in the organization bring the growth and develop the work culture of
an organization (Alvesson and Sveningsson, 2015). Organization culture cannot be constant as it
must change with the time to walk along with the world. It helps to keep the work environment
fresh and more happening and a happy work environment makes the employees work more
efficiently.
The structure of an organization defines the culture of an organization that how the jobs are

which can be followed:
Functional Structure:
As per the area of specialization, people are grouped in a hierarchical way in a functional
structure. In this form of structure, employees are classified accordingly on the basis of the
function they perform (Owiti, 2019). And the work is supervised by the functional manager who
is having the expertise in the same field. All the different department have a different head who
supervise the related work and take the responsibility of his department accordingly.
Divisional Structure:
The divisional structure divides the activities and the group of people of similar characteristics
into a single unit. It is very effective in the organization which is having different markets or
products. In the divisional structure, the employees can focus on the specific work of his division
which can give the better result.
Matrix Structure:
The matrix structure is the combination of different types of structure, as it combines two or
more organizational structure. In the matrix structure, the authority flows in both the ways that
are downward and in sideways. And this function can become more effective in this dynamic

A manager should be a quick decision maker as in the day to day work of an organization the
manager needs to take many decisions. The decision making skill affect the lot in the execution
of the work of an organization.
2.2 ANALYZE PERSONAL STRENGTH, WEAKNESS, OPPORTUNITIES AND
THREATS
Strengths
The one should have good communication skills, leadership skills and interpersonal skills to
become a good manager. I also have the interpersonal skill and strategic thinking which requires
to accomplishing the goals of the organization. The manager of Aramark does have all these
qualities and he also believes in the continuous improvement.
Weakness
The greatest weakness of the one can be too much focusing on a particular work for a long time.
It is good to be focused but too much focus on the particular work can consume a lot of time.
And I am continuously working to get rid of this weakness and trying to focus on the multiple
tasks.
Opportunities
The one should always look forward towards the opportunities to grow the business and it is
necessary to grab the opportunities to compete with your rivals in the business. This is the way
from which one can take a step ahead to the competitor.
Threats
It is necessary to be aware of the threats of the business. The one should use the strengths to
minimize threats and make the proper strategies to overcome from them.
2.3 SET AND PRIORITISE OBJECTIVES AND TARGETS TO DEVELOP OWN

The growth and development of any company are possible only when the employer and
employees contribute to a common goal and set the common objectives. And the objective
Document Page
should be in a SMART manner, means it should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic
and Timely. For an individual, it can be challenging to narrow in on the specific tasks that satisfy
their needs to contribute. A strong first step is an overview analysis of what the company and the
team needs, followed by what the one can focus on (Rondinelli, 2013). It is important to set clear
performance goals because without any goal employees may feel aimless. The organization
should have clear and effective goals and objectives for better productivity.
For the accomplishment of goals, the one needs to develop his own potential because then only
the one can cross all the hurdles and can achieve the goals within a set time period. And for
improving the own potential skills and to become a good manager the one need to learn all the
managerial skills and need to learn to develop interpersonal skills and the communication skills
to lead the team from the front. By developing all these skills the one can enhance the
performance and can contribute to achieving the goals of an organization.
