Career development refers to the process of choosing a career, advancing along a career
path and improving skills. The said process is a life-long process which engaged skills and
attributes of an individual with continuous improvement processes. Further, provided concept
engaged abilities of an individual with effective decision-making and develops a better lifestyle
of an individual while pursuing a specified career pathway. In the provided report document,
reflections over career goals with specified interests and possible gaps will be explored. In
addition to this, a suitable action plan is also presented to back up the career development
pathways.
Main Body
Career goals
My career scope is Business Development Manager and all my activities being produced
are within the scope of the said career scope. In inclusive of the career scope, various activities
are guided by attached career goals for which specified standards of workings in personal as well
as the professional workplace is being pro-found. I have invested my time and available resource
to accomplish my desired career goals to be successful in the career scope of business
development manager of a well-reputed company. Following are some goals which will guide
my career pathway;
ï‚· Like to be in 3-5 years: I would like to secure a job in a decent company as a Business
Development Manager. This will be inclusive of the long-term investment of my time
and related efforts.
ï‚· Target industry: My target industry to attain my career goals, for now, is serving the
hospitality industry. This covers developing my soft skills including personal
development approaches for making myself the best fit for the respective company job.
ï‚· Long term plans and ambition: I prefer working on my personal as well as professional
attributes along with my technical capabilities. This will help me to serve better and
explore several market opportunities when arrived and thus would avoid missing any of
such opportunities. In this communication and presentation skills are mainly taken into
consideration.

Target role and requirements
Being a business development manager, I need to work on both hard as well as soft skill
which will be compatible with the job role. Reflecting on the fact that, there are high market
fluctuations which needed to be take care off while approaching respective career pathways. This
can be inclusive of factors that might arise due to competition in a specific industry or any other
internal or external factors affecting the specified industry. Formulating an effective target role
and requirements helps an individual to develop critical pathways on the basis of which career
goals can be attained in a desirable manner with effective usage of resources. This helps in
enhancing the potential of an individual when engaged in career development activities and sets
a particular standard on the basis of which all activities and related plans are being formulated.
In my context, as chosen career pathway is Business development manager key
considerations specific degree will be taken into consideration. For the purpose being, Bachelor’s
degree in marketing, business or related field, Basic knowledge of MS word and CRM software,
master degree in management and brief understandings of marketing strategies and knowledge of
the market. Completion of this stated degree will form as my target role and additional
requirements will list down various personal skills for making myself compatible for the job.
Reflecting on the main requirement for a business development manager that relates to
identifying and researching new business opportunities being raised in the business market. It
can be said that I need to develop effective research skills and filter my workings in a
professional manner to cope with a corporate environment that will be inclusive of avoiding
wastages of resources.
Identifying gaps
Skill gaps tend to fall into two categories are Macro and Micro skills. Macro skills are
inclusive of communication, critical thinking, teamwork and many more which are not unique
for a respective business. On the other hand, Micro skills are inclusive of efforts that can be
produced with respect to customer engagement while selling a product, finances, technology and
managing projects.
In my context, as I am interested in a job related to business development manager I have
identified some gaps which might create issues for me to obtain desirable results. This includes a
lack of communication and research skills. Inclusive of the concept, it can be said that such gaps
must be filled which will initiate a better sense of working towards the desired course of interest.

While tailoring my CV there were several experiences that were being drawn and were
related to exploring my personal and professional life-being. In the process being there were

process being an individual performs deliberate activities to reinforce, build and maintain
relationships of trust with other people for pursuing their respective career goals. While
approaching my professional life career, I would like to get in contact with friends, clients,
suppliers and target company employees. I will engage myself in interacting with my friends and
classmates over technical topics for enabling sharing of information and deriving positive
outcomes out of the efforts so produced. In addition to this, I will spend time on social media
platforms and participate in online debates over my interesting topic which would be a good
source of knowledge for me.
