Introduction:
Digitalization is a modern phenomenon and it has been encompassed technological development
in general particularly in IT. Digital technologies have affected almost all industries. This current
project will specifically focus on different aspects of digitalization and its impacts on different
business industries.

P1: Aims and objects of the project
1. Project Definition
Digital technologies or its modern implementation has immensely influenced different fields of
business industries. Modern technologies have great impacts especially on the small businesses
and their marketing sector as they are reaching more number of customers through social media
platform (Binder, 2016). It also has positive impacts on their human resource department
because they easily find and retain top talents to run their business properly. Cloud computing is
the most important digital application in this current time. It has enabled flexible work climate
and effective productivity in large number. In case of a medicine company like
GlaxoSmithKline, they have applied digital technologies to improve their manufacturing
technologies and building a strong R&D hub (GlaxoSmithKline Company, 2018). The Digital
Strategy of UK government is also aiming to utilize all the opportunities to connect their
business institutions with others and competition in this increasing digitally connected world.
2. Problem Statement
GlaxoSmithKline has developed their manufacturing innovation to bring more developed
medicines and other healthcare products. Still, they have not reached to all those people who
need more amount of healthcare products across the world. The company has to develop their
transport system. According to the company's latest report, they are requiring to bring more
medicines in the UK such as cancer, respiratory problems and others which are being very
common in the country (Gambles, 2017). GlaxoSmith is also seeking the help of more digital
application in developing their R&D hub to compete with the other medicine companies in the
global market.
3. Project Strategy

Construction sectors: The Company will focus on developing their R&D hubs (Webb, 2017).
They can increase the number of hubs and develop their transportation system.
Products of consumers: The Company needs a proper market study to know the needs of the
customers and the rising physical problems of the country. They can also develop their special
healthcare products for children and women.
Marketing sector: The Company can focus on digital platforms like their official website, social
media and other online retailers for advertising and selling their products (Le Dinh et al. 2018).

Successful outcome of a project comes
whenever the objective of the project
is properly met. For eg., the team
members must have a clear vision
about their key responsibilities, all
steps must be executed accordingly to
get the desired output (Hanelt et al.
2015).
2. DEMAND IN THE MARKET:
Demand for any project planning in
the market plays a crucial role in
understanding the scores of the
project. If more demand comes from
the client end, then the organization
will concentrate more on the rate of
productivity and resources required for
that particular project. Rating of a
product can be easily analyzed by
means of various applications and
depend on the demands, new plans can
be adopted.
TIME 1. TIME MANAGEMENT:
Management of time also plays a vital
role in any project. A project whose
demand is high must produce more
compared to a low demanding article.
Work pressure must be distributed

accordingly for the high productivity.
With the evolution of digital
technology, the time has reduced very
much. The work which takes a lot of
time previously can be done using
computers within a few seconds.
2. INCREASE OF WORKLOAD:
Every company aims towards the high
production rate. But sometimes due to
this reason, workers may face from the
severe workload. Increase in stress
among the workers may lead to
conflict within the company. So to
reduce it, the superiors of the firm may
provide legitimate payments and
holidays so as to satisfy the workers.
Breakdown of the workers may affect
production rate which may affect the
profitability figure.Computers,
mobiles, laptops etc. has helped to a
greater extent in solving the work
stress.
QUALITY 1. QUALITY OF THE PRODUCTS:
No compromise must be done with the
quality of the products. Let us suppose
a case where a company at the
beginning produces a good quality of
the product but with the popularity and
demand of the products, the quality

has been degraded. With the growth
and development of the digital
industry, the quality of the products is
always maintained so that any
business ruptures and bad ratings may
not arise.
COMMUNICATION 1. INCREASE IN BANDWIDTH:
With an increase in the range of
bandwidth in the communicating
channel, long-distance communication
is possible. This is only possible due to
the advancement of digital technology
and networks. Nowadays, firewall
enabled routers are present in many
devices which help the clients to
communicate worldwide.
RISK 1. RISK MANAGEMENT: While
working on any project, various risks
may arise in the testing phase. With
the introduction of digital technology
in business fields, managing risks have
become much easier. Previously we
have to analyze and find ourselves the
errors within the entire project. But
now with the help of some software,
detection, and removal of risks can be
done more rapidly and safely without
touching risk-free area.

Managing resources are done using
proper project planning and at
sometimes need software to
accomplish it. Using various
networking policies, resources are
shared among the members as if
needed thus solving the issue
regarding the resources (Haight et al.
2014).
Deliverables:
Advertising cost is higher than other costs, digitalization can minimize this cost through a
website or social media (Muller, 2017).
This style of advertising will reduce time consumption as it will help the company to reach a
huge number of customers in a short time.
Project Scope Statement
Included Scope:
● Online availability: The Company can sell their products (with detail information) online
because of around 87% of total UK population now active in online purchasing.
● Mobile apps: The Company can bring their application where they can update the name
of their modern health products and raise awareness for physical fitness (Storey et al.
2014).
Excluded Scope:
This current project has avoided any outdated methods and it has tried to follow advanced
technical and digital parameter (Serra and Kunc, 2015). This plan or project management will
help the company to develop their existing process and at the same time reduce expenditure.
Success Criteria:
The success of the project is based on the improvement of the organizational performance,
customer satisfaction and rate of reducing the rising health problems in the UK. therefore,
customers' feedback will help to measure the success rate of the project. That is why, the

company can provide a customer feedback section on their official website or on social media
pages (Basu, 2017). It will help them to know their errors so they can easily overcome those
issues and become popular among customers by mitigating their problems properly.
Project Assumptions:
The rate of customer satisfaction determines the rate of success of a company. GlaxoSmithKline
already has a strong market in the United Kingdom (Page et al. 2017). Therefore, their brand
name is already popular and trustworthy among UK people. The major problem is lacking their
proper transportation system to deliver medicines to all the areas of UK and still, they do not
have sufficient medicines as per all the major health problems in the country (Turner, 2016).
Therefore, online marketing will help them to reach more customers and more distinct areas.
Customer feedback will help them to identify their weaknesses.
