For every organization it is necessary to maintain cultural diversity. It is because there are
various types of employees who are working in it which belongs to different caste, cred, color
background etc. Thus, they have to respect each other dignity and value them. Also, managing of
diversity enable in developing a positive culture and boost employee morale and trust. Moreover,
diversity allow in gaining competitive advantage as it highly impact in positive way on
workplace culture. There are several ways of managing diversity at workplace such as
performance appraisal, motivation, recruitment and selection policy etc it depends on company
and management that what type of policy is being followed in it. Basically, these are common
practices which is followed in it. Furthermore, diversity allows in providing a positive culture to
work. This means that more team work is done and goals and objectives are attained in effective
way. It is identified that managing diversity refer to removing of individual differences between
employee of different caste, creed color etc.
Background
Hospitality sector is rapidly growing at global level. There are various types of services which is
being offered to people. Besides that, there are many people who are working in it. They belong
to different background, caste etc and work together to achieve aims and objectives. Moreover,
in Marriott hotel there is diversified people working in it. The hotel recruit and select candidate
from different caste creed etc. Alongside, there are several techniques which is followed to
manage diversity in it. With this it allows in creating a positive culture. Through it, staff morale
and confidence is increased. They are able to work in team in more effective way.

Rationale
This study is been done to find out that importance of cultural diversity at workplace. It will be
useful in finding out why it is necessary to maintain diversity and how it benefit to Marriott
hotel. Besides that, it will helpful in evaluating benefit of diversity as well on workplace
environment. Alongside it, how work place culture is impacted due to it and what are its
outcomes on overall hotel. Due to this, the study is been conducted.
Literature review
As said by ( cultural diversity refer to managing of people of all caste, creed color etc in effective
way at workplace. An organization consists of many employees who work at different levels.
They follow various ethics and norms. Alongside, when diversity is maintained it enables in
providing a positive environment. In this staff work together and respect each other dignity and
value. It allows in working in team and no discrimination is done by management. However,
diversity results in creating positive impact on employee behavior. They get encouraged and
communicate with one another. Moreover, people interact with each other and respect value and
dignity of them.
As stated by ( there are several benefit of managing cultural diversity. This can be analyzed that
when people of various caste, creed etc engage and work in team they share experience and
knowledge. In this way there is exchange of knowledge and skills. Also, they contribute in team
work by putting hard efforts and achieving of goals and objectives. In addition, diversity leds to
bringing creativity within team work. The employee try to implement new ideas and do work.
Along with it, people share experience with one another and this result in high and effective
communication with them.
According to ( when diversity is maintained it enables in reduction in conflict as there is
effective communication between employee. They interact and discuss personal problems.
Furthermore, they gain knowledge about ethics and value of others. There are several strategies
which is followed by company to manage diversity. By providing training to all it led to enhance
in their and development. Besides that, providing equal opportunity for growth makes it easy to
manage staff. There are different ways as well on basis of which employees are motivated. By
providing offer and benefits by measuring their performance diversity is maintained. However,

policy state of recruiting all candidates regardless on basis of their background, religion etc. It
has to be change in things of how diversity is managed by firm. Having a diverse workforce with
multi-lingual employees and employees from varying ethnic backgrounds can also be helpful for
organizations who want to expand or improve operations in international, national, regional and
local markets. When diversity is maintained employee are able to understand the organization
environment in better way. They know values of organisation and how it has to be supported.

realism and pragmatism. It is applied as per nature of study and willingness of researcher. In
present study, positivism philosophy will be used. It will enable in gathering factual knowledge
by observing things.
Research approach- it consists of a plan or procedure in which all steps are included of how to
collect and analyse data in appropriate way. Generally, there are two types of approach available
that are deductive and inductive. Thus, in current study, scholar will use inductive approach. This
is because it is suitable to use it in qualitative research and getting answer of research question.
Research design- this consist of elements which enable in getting the answer of problem or
addressing issue in it. Usually, it is of three types that are casual, exploratory and descriptive.
Thus, scholar will use exploratory research design in it to explore how cultural diversity is
managed and what strategies or practices are followed in it.
Research type- this is procedure of identifying research on basis of its objectives and research
question.. There are two common type which is qualitative and quantitative. Therefore, in this
scholar will use qualitative research type to gain theoretical data on managing diversity at
workplace.

Data collection- it is the main method in research where data is collected. Here, in order to get

importance in the hotels to have the proper taking of account regarding the difference among the

to have maintaining of diversity in effective manner.
Hotel Marriott have the specific concern to meet up the statuary level of requirements for
completing the managerial level of commitments as the firm have the need to be identified as the
