INTRODUCTION
There are different type of strategies applied by the companies in order to raise the sales
and profitability. The rate of competition has raised and firms are focused to make sure that high
quality services can be provided. In this process, it requires to have skilled and capable workers
who can be support the business to grow (Aiken, Clarke and Shamian, 2017). Present report is on
Aprica Care Ltd. that provides care services for elderly residents. As per the scenario given there
is an increase in number of residents and so firm is in need of 4 support workers and a team
leader who can help the firm. This report covers relevant legislative and policy frameworks of
UK on selection and recruitment and employment of individuals at Aprica Care Ltd. Further, it
covers evaluation of approaches that may be used to develop an effective team working in health
and social care.

the type of situations that are faced by each of the employees. As per this theory, leader make use
of their skills depending upon the situation that are faced by the workers. This is helpful to
understand the main cause of the problems and proper steps are taken so that employee will be
able to overcome the issues.
Behavioural theory: This is a type of theory in which employees are able to develop skills
of a leaders when they are provided with the information for the roles and responsibilities of the

making, effective communication, etc. This scenario covers different theories of leadership that
are applied in health and social care workplace. Lastly, it also includes evaluation of own
development that is influenced by management approaches.
4.1 Explanation of theories of leadership applied in health and social care workplace and
preferred leadership theory
There are many different type of theories that are highly effective for making employees
to perform their roles in effective manner (Chartier, 2014). Two leadership theories that can be
applied at Aprica Care Ltd are as follows:
Situational theory: This can be determined to be the form of theory that is dependent on
the type of situations that are faced by each of the employees. As per this theory, leader make use
of their skills depending upon the situation that are faced by the workers. This is helpful to
understand the main cause of the problems and proper steps are taken so that employee will be
able to overcome the issues.
Behavioural theory: This is a type of theory in which employees are able to develop skills
of a leaders when they are provided with the information for the roles and responsibilities of the
leaders (Brodie, Flournoy and Rosenbaum, 2017). This is helpful enough to make the care
providers to develop capabilities in effective manner. Further, it also enables to make the
workers self dependent and take up their own steps through which the problem can be solved
effectively and efficiently.

4.2 Ways to managing working relationships
In order to manage working relationship, there are different type of steps that can be
considered. In this context, it is important for the employees to have strong interaction with each
other. When there are proper interaction, then it becomes favourable enough to understand the
behaviours that are carried out. Further, there cases in which conflict situation arise due to which
employees fail to perform their roles in effective manner. In such condition, it is important that
proper analysis is made of the situation and appropriate steps are taken to solve them. Further,
management should plan activities in which there are involved among care providers. This
enables to form proper coordination among employees. Further, there need to have change of
team to be made so that all the employees may not have interaction with members from their
team but they have interact with other as well (Duckett and Willcox, 2015). This is effective
enough to make sure that employees are able to know each other and the rate of working
relationship will be maintained in effective manner. Moreover, management should be proper
interaction with their employees so that the issues that are faced by them can be identified.
4.3 Own development influenced by management approaches
There are different type of areas in which I needed development. It required self-analysed
and evaluation to identify the areas and to take up appropriate steps through which I was able to
make development. Below given are some of the issues that I encountered:
Team working: I was facing issues in relation to working with other. In this context, I was
able to overcome this problem by interaction with each of the employee personally and then
knowing them. This way, I was able to develop my skills of team working in effective manner.
Leadership: Different people follow diverse set of characteristic and their own preference
of leadership styles. I was able to develop my skills by observing my seniors and supervisors.
This way, I was able to understand the type of skills that a manager or the leaders would possess
so that other can be proper guided or directed.
