Introduction
Information system in the project management is very essential for delivering the
information regarding the project (Marchewka, (2016). The project manager uses the tools and
techniques for collecting, combining and distributing the information through the manual and
electronic context. Information system in the project management used widely used by the entire
management for communicating with the team members or stakeholders. IS/IT in the project
management helps in project planning, executing, and closing of the project ad help in achieving
the goals.
This report states about the IS/IT projects by Vodafone Australia that is the prediction of
autonomous vehicles that will help the people of Australia in their daily life. This project aims to
discuss the issues with the project quality and how the issues can be addressed by using the
effective project management tools (Obeidat & North, 2014). This report identifies the method
for the conflict management among the team members and also provides the overview of the
leadership style of the project manager that can motivate the team members for performing
effectively. There are also the approaches for the stakeholder identification discussed in this
report with the effective communication methods among the stakeholders. This report also
identifies the potential risks that can arise during the project and there are also multiple tools that
can be used for evaluating and addressing the risks.
Scope of this Project
This project is built on the evaluation of the travel system in Australia that will be backup

economy of Australia. By doing this project, the company Vodafone will be able to have the
strong reach in the rural areas and the development of the ITS technological system will create
the best effect on the people’s mind. While defining the potential scope of this project, the
developmental team will define the particular user stories for the participant of the project. This
will help the team of manufacturing for understanding their team members and the work to the
project development in some stages.
Current State of the Organization
There should be a strong network on which the revolution of the autonomous car can be
created by relying on and inventing the self-driving cars. The network helps the organization for
supporting the effective communication between the cars. The implementation of the self-driving
cars need the ultra-reliable network and huge strength. This needs the low latency and must have
the ability of working at anytime and anywhere. The organization has now focused on making
their 5G technology more powerful that they can plan for implementing in the autonomous cars
that will be based on the development of the network architecture and maintenance of the
effective communication. In the current state, the development of the IS/It project and launching
the key model of the autonomous vehicles can be looked on. The company was struggling to
develop the new technology, which will be highly effective and efficient in the environment.
After their inception of thinking, they have launched the 5G mobility laboratory that will be the
main place to conduct the proper test and use of the 5G system in the autonomous vehicles
(Kyösti et al., 2017). The organization has been started with the testing process o the C-V2X that
is the new technology and useful support the key features for the safety of transport. This is
known as the part of the ITS that will help to connect the infrastructure of the roads, pedestrians
and vehicles. The organization is currently working for the development of the automation

industry to support the manufacturing and the development of the autonomous vehicles. The cars
will be incorporating with the C-V2X, which will combine the low latency network and the high
bandwidth connectivity. With the C-V2X and 5G technology combination, the technology will
be able in increasing the automated and assisted driving and will enable the leading
transformation in which the cars will be able used in the better way.
Issues related to project Quality
From the previous project, the followings issues can be identified that can rise in the
quality of the project.
Quality depends on the customer
Every customer thinks about the quality differently and if the client is not satisfied with
the quality then the quality cannot be delivered successfully.
Expectation of the clients
A project is always undertaken with the agreements and the agreements are related to the
requirements, deliverables and goals. If the organization does not understand the requirements
and deliverables as well as cost and time, then following the delivery will become hard for them
and the quality expectations will be missed (Van Offenbeek & Vos, 2016).
Rational agreements on the requirements
The clients will based on the requirement agreement and this means the genuine
requirement. If this is not adjusted properly in the project plan then this can be problematic to the
collaborative agreement.
Different quality expectation of adopters
Document Page
6REPORT
Any early adopters of the service can be able to afford for being more tolerant with the
lower specification and less requirements but the late adopters wait more for the better
specification and their expectations increases with time (Kerzner, 2017)). Therefore, continuous
improvement can be the big issue in the project.
Intangible experience of the customer
Quality is about producing the outcomes for conforming and using the requirements. The
requirements and expectation will not be limited to the tangible outputs (Alias et al., 2014).
Because of this there can be implication on the customer experience and there can be issues with
the transition of the information system and the customer can experience the intangible
outcomes.
Tools for Addressing the Issues
Potential tools for addressing the project quality issues with the Vodafone autonomous
vehicle are:
Flowchart
Flowcharts can be used for documenting the flows of the work process. This tool can be
used for determining the breakdowns or the bottlenecks which are in the process. The steps of
the flowchart will provide the image of the process and how this can resolve the uses in the
process (Ensmenger, 2016). Flowchart can be used for showing the changes in the process while
the improvements are made for showing the new process.

Scatter diagrams are the graphs, which show the relationship or integration between the
variables. The possible issues and effect related to quality are represented by the variables. This
tool has multiple unique advantages for improving the q1quality of the project for any certain
situations (Mane & Patil, 2015).
Leadership Style for Motivating Team Members
The project leadership of the project manager is very vital aspect in the project
management of the Vodafone Australia for their autonomous vehicle project. Every leader must
have the different leadership styles, which will depend on their experience, personalities and
philosophies. Various types of leadership will affect the environment as well as the team
members.
Autocratic Leadership: The project leaders will have the authority and they can give
instruction to the team members in a proper way, which will help the team members to
work correctly (Fiaz, Su & Saqib, 2017)).
Democratic Leadership: In this leadership style, the project leaders focus on building the
group and commitment to the team members in the decision making process. The project
leaders will participate with their team and can motivate the team and this is very
essential to achieve the goals (Hendriks & Karsten, 2014).
Coercive Leadership: The project leaders can use this style when they faces issues while
the communication. The project managers can give the direct order to their team and can
have strong control on the situation.
Affiliative Leadership: The project managers can use this style for encouraging the team
members and promoting the team harmony as well as cooperation (Kopia, 2016).

Authoritative Leadership: The project leaders can share their vision with their team and
can allow their team for giving their proper input in decision making. The project
managers can motivate the tem by giving them greater value by including the
contribution of the team.
Methods used for Conflict Management
Followings can be best techniques for managing the conflicts in the project management
of the Vodafone autonomous vehicle. These methods are suggested from the experience of the
previous project, which will help in managing the conflicts in this project as well.
Collaboration or Problem Solving
In this problem solving method, team members come forwards for discussing the issues
with open mind and then the project manager can focus on the issues can resolve the conflict and
provide the team members other solution and this can happen by collaborating with each other
(Tidström, 2014).
Reconciling or Compromising
Sometimes for the conflicts, the project manager needs to think about the middle path
where the team members decide for giving up and identify the resolution. This strategy can give
a solution to the parties.
Avoiding or Withdrawing
In any conflict situation, any party can think about withdraw or avoid by maintaining the
silence (Brown & Raymond, 2014). Therefore, avoiding any conflict situation can provide the

cooling off situation to the team members so that they can come with the meaningful resolution
later.
Competing or Forcing
In some circumstances, there can be member with the power and authority which can
force their opinion for resolving the conflicts without providing any chance to the other team
members (Bercovitch, 2019). This strategy can be used any unnecessary conflicts occur.
Approaches used for Stakeholder Identification
As the information about the stakeholder gather from the previous project, in the project
management, stakeholder management is utilized for maintaining and obtaining the support from
the stakeholders in the autonomous vehicle project by Vodafone Australia. The stakeholders can
be categorized according to the general needs such as:
Upwards
This category is involved in funding and initiating the project and these stakeholders have
the business interest in the success of the project autonomous vehicle by Vodafone Australia
(Cooper, 2017). This group is included with the stakeholder groups:

Methods used for Effective Communication between Stakeholders
Followings can be the effective communication methods for the stakeholders as in the
previous projects, these methods were used for building the virtual relationship with the virtual
team members of this project.
Face-to-face communication
Though face-to-face is not the electronic or virtual communication, but most of the team
members prefers the face-to-face communication or meetings at the formation of the virtual
group which can build the personal relationship in the most effective way (Pauleen & Yoong,
2001).
Conventional electronic communication
Telephone are one of the important communication method as this is the most familiar
method to most of the people. Telephone calls can be used for the formation of the virtual team
for getting know someone very quickly without meeting physically.
Internet-based communication
In the internet-based communication, there can be email and video conferencing. Using
the email anyone can send any formal message to other team members virtually and with the
video conferencing tool, the team members can conduct their meetings without meeting
physically. This will be very time saving way of communication.
Tools and Methods for Planning and Conducting Procurement
For planning and conducting the procurement in the project management by Vodafone
Australia, followings tools and methods can be used as experienced from the previous project.
Document Page
12REPORT
Bidder conference: A bidder conference frequently recognized as the conference for vendors or
contractors is the meeting between buyers and prospective customers for ensuring that any
bidder has all the details available to request proposals.
Independent estimates: Independent estimates are the components of the methods used in
planning and conducting procurement (Thai, 2017). This is the project management framework
that both gathers and analyzes information using the third party. The detail is then used
for estimating the project costs and schedule.
Analytical techniques: Project managers use various forms of computational methods and these
include basic profiling, analysis of regression and cross tabulation. Different methodological
methods are used based on the purpose of the analysis needed by the project managers of
Vodafone Australia (Thamhain, 2014).
Proposal evaluation techniques: The proposal evaluation methods refers to the method of
evaluating the vendor’s plans in favor of the project team’s contract and the buyer’s award
decisions.
Expert judgment: Expert judgment is widely used to analyze the data and procedures used to
create the charter for the autonomous vehicle project. As the best technique and strategy of
project management systems it is very frequently recommended.
Procurement negotiations: A successful procurement program can provide an enterprise with
considerable advantages as it provides the common point of reference for the procurement
processes that can create substantial organisation-specific economies. A comprehensive
procurement system offers time savings in the price-related markets, thereby allowing the project
manager to direct its resources on the negotiating processes.

Advertising: Advertising is a means for customers to connect. This plays a critical role in the
management of competitions and projects. This also lets them familiarize themselves with their
rivals and prepare their course of action to face the competition level current on the market.
Risks for the Project
Timing and risk estimation
Some of the main issues about executing a project is to measure it accurately. Just
because any website and Smartphone device is very special, it is not always easy to get reliable
figures straight off the bat.
Specifications change
The industry today is as dynamic as ever. Regardless of this, clients can often adjust their
perception of how they will look like their product or other features in it. And if it is difficult to
plan for changes in specifications, it is one of the items the project manager needs to remember
(Carvalho & Rabechini Junior, 2015).
Employee Motivation
Employee motivation can be the huge factor in this project. If the employees are not
motivated towards this project, then project can be a failure (Mak & Sockel, 2001). The
employees of the organization are more resistance to the thane than the other members of the
organization and the development team are more concerned about the prospect of the career
development. Because of the concern related to employee motivation, the IS developers can face
the constant change in the technology.
Unclear Specifications
Document Page
14REPORT
According to incorrect implementation of the project, guidelines may not always be
simple or accurate enough to allow developers for starting their part of the project.
Project incompetence
Many developers still appear to ignore design processes when order to save time. The
decision also gives them the wobbly however, as architecture plays one of the most vital
developmental facets (Carvalho & Rabechini Junior, 2015).
Technical risks
Budget cuts are among the most daunting challenges, because they drive the project
manager into a position where the project manager needs to satisfy consumer demands despite
being resource-low.
Risks which are necessary
There are threats that cannot be monitored or estimated from discontinuing technology to
even shifts in government policy.
Evaluation of the Tools used for Risk Analysis
The existing processes of the project are not developed for managing the project portfolio
while considering the opportunities and risks of this project. This is because of the fact that the
structure of the process foes not help in managing the project portfolio. While using the single
processes of the project, this is over the experience of the project manager and the organization
Vodafone for finding the links between the previous project and this project (Olsson, 2008). For
addressing and controlling the risks followings tools and techniques can be used.
Risk reassessment
Document Page
15REPORT
Followings are the activities which are involved in risks assessment
Identifying the risks
Evaluating the risks
Evaluating the process of risk management
Closing the risks
Risk Audit
Project teams on the project may have identified responses to the challenge. Project
managers encourage risk assessments to evaluate the efficacy of risk solutions and to decide
whether improvements are necessary (Kendrick, 2015). The team also looks at the mechanisms
for identifying, evaluating, reacting to and managing threats.
Trend and Variance analysis
As with other monitoring systems, the project managers should search for variances
between the baselines of time and expense and the real performance. After the project
manager increases the variances, the complexity and the risk decreases.
Meetings
Project managers must be aware managers of the risk. The project manager must engage
the staff members and the related parties in forums that promote the processes of risk reduction.

me concentrate and I am not running around. If it comes to project management I feel as a boss
or the leader and the client in my personal life. In comparison, I am usually either one or the
other in company. Having the opportunity to concentrate on the project management related to
autonomous vehicle and information technology helps me to become my own manager and
inspire myself. When I do not succeed there will be no one who will punish me. If I am not
performing, I will be the one who personally loses out. My personal project management self-
motivation will turn into my professional life. This will help me in planning for something at
work and will make me a perfect choice for some future projects.
Conclusion
Autonomous vehicle have been an important research field for several decades. And
working in a project related to autonomous vehicle is very vital in the context of project
management. From this study this can be concluded that there should be a strong network on
which the revolution of the autonomous car can be created by relying on and inventing the self-
driving cars. The network helps the organization for supporting the effective communication
between the cars. The implementation of the self-driving cars needs the ultra-reliable network
and huge strength. It presents an important challenge to the discipline of the project management
of autonomous vehicle by Vodafone Australia, in that it is now necessary for project managers to
handle change actively and intentionally even as they handle other deliverables. Managing all
aspects of change processes across the life cycle of the project management is important to
ensuring that the project goals are met successfully.
