INTRODUCTION
Market is wider and broader which consists of wide range of businesses. It is crucial for
organisations to focus on development and change that take place in enterprise. In organisation,
leaders as well as managers are important without which it is not possible for business to achieve
goals and objectives (Daniels, 2020). Main aim of this report is to examine the importance of
leadership approaches in business to deal with problems. This report is based on approaches of
leadership and managers used by organisation to deal with uncertain changes (COVID 19). This
report comprises of brief overview about concept and approaches of change management, role of
flexible leadership, analysis why issue has strategic importance in understanding leadership
methods and impact on stakeholders and reflection.

The market of business is wider and expanding at rapid scale. Leadership is to be defined as
process of influencing decisions of others to get work done. In organisations, both leaders as well a
managers are important as they help in accessing to business goals within period of time. Also it has
been stated that it is necessary to be aware about market situations so that better decisions are being
undertaken. Due to flexibility of market, it is not easy for firm to implement effective strategies and
achieve competitive benefits, For example- due to occur of COVID 19 it has become difficult for
many enterprises to access and execute their business operations and functions (Huynh, 2018).
Leadership involves establishing a clear vision, sharing the vision so others will follow willingly
and providing the knowledge, information and methods to realize the vision. Further, leadership is
ability of an individual or organization to lead or guide other individuals.
In enterprises, it is critically important to focus on change and change management in
order to achieve competitive advantage in market. Also, to examine the need for change many
enterprises conduct market research analysis as well as scanning of business environment. With
help of market research, it is easy for entrepreneurs to obtain relevant information about changing
situations and factors that impact on leadership of leaders and organisational functions. With
considering of change management, it is easy to access the benefits and use effective strategies that
leads to higher productivity and profit. Moreover, it has been too stated that leaders need to apply
appropriate form of style as well as methods so that goals are accomplished.
There are many models of change management which are used by leaders to in order to
access and adopt change in effective manner. For example- Lewin Change management model,

Change management-
It is to be defined as process which guides to support and equip individual to successfully
adopt the change with aim of achieving organisational success and growth. It is important to focus
on need for change within business so that it is easy to access the benefits in easy way. Most of the
firms uses change management model in order to examine need for change. With consideration of
change management, it is easy for leaders to access and reduce chances of uncertainty. While all
changes are unique and all individuals are unique, decades of research shows there are actions we
can take to influence people in their individual transitions. Change management deliver a structured
approach for supporting individuals in organization to move from their own current states to their
own growth or development states. So, Lewin change management model is being described as
follows-
Unfreeze- It is first step in which main focus is on preparing firm and other to be ready for
change. In this stage, it is essential to be well aware of root cause of change so that better decisions
are made. In relation of corporate sector, changes can be arise due to external as well as internal
factors. This is essential to unfreeze the static situation so that new changes and need for change is
easily analysed (Kirchner, 2021).
Change- It is second aspect in which it states about the desire of individual to accept the
change or not. It is difficult for individual to focus on new things or processes. This is because it is
not easy to determine the future situations. The reason for adopting change is being determined in
correct way. So flexible leadership approach is used by leader of firm. Convincing employee for for
adopting a specific change is essential as well as difficult task.
Freeze- In this, it focuses on carrying out adopted change in future period and with higher
consistency. With implementation of freeze, it depicts the stability in employees, form of new
relationships etc. It is critically necessary for leaders of organisation to manage and further execute
the change in static way which leads to benefits of firm. Once change has been adopted, it is
necessary to make ensure that that change is further processed and is being carried out (Kovalenko,
2020).
With consideration of above discussed mode, leaders analyse the change in proper manner
and make assure that appropriate type of decisions are adopted. Also, it has been analysed that
appropriate type of market analysis is being conducted so that changed are made accordingly.
There are also various types of leadership methods which are described as follows-
Participative- It is effective method and technique of leadership in which it focuses on

involvement with people and others in order to encourage participation. With help of participative
leadership style, it is easy to enhance the motivation level of subordinates within a firm. In this
competitive market, it is necessary to involve every individual in decision making process so that
issues are resolved at appropriate level.
Authoritarian style- It is another method of leadership style in which it reflects about
ruling of leaders over employees and taking of all the decisions in independent way. This form of
leadership is required when control is needed in management. During the pandemic situation, this
style was not used by any leader. This because adopting this style can create a major issues as well
as problems (Lee, 2020).
Laissez Faire- In this form of style, it reflects that employees make decision in effective
manner and has ability to deal with different situations. It is kind of style on the basis of which
leaders give freedom to subordinates and execute the activities in proper manner. By providing
freedom to employees, leaders become and free from their role and only support is given by them to
subordinates when any problem occur. With focusing on this form of method, leader is able to
achieve objectives.
Transformational- It is also an effective form of style in which leader communicates
effectively with subordinates and which leads to enhancing of productivity as well as higher
efficiency level. Main benefit of this style is that it is beneficial to develop a positive relations and
reduce problems within management by properly communicating with employees in most efficient
way (Leroy, 2018). Main aim of transformation leader is to analyse the employees mind set and
deliver relevant information to them within business management.
From the specified above leadership approached, the most appropriate form of style is
transformational leadership style as because in this flexible market, it is crucial for leaders to have
appropriate knowledge of employees and access to their behaviour easily. Both change management
as well as leadership are to be applied simultaneously so that it is easy to deal with ongoing
pandemic situation ion effective manner. Also, these using of leadership methods help in

leadership of human resource development professionals in crisis management efforts are important
which are to be adopted as well as help in reconstruction of crisis system. It is critically necessary
for leaders to be flexible so that response to pandemic situation is properly given by leaders.
Furthermore, due to this flexible situation of market, leaders need to be well aware about what and
how pandemic crisis has affected the overall business field. Being flexible leader is beneficial which
directly assist leaders as well as employees to examine the situations in proper manner & adopt
change in appropriate way (Ngwenya, 2017).
The pandemic of COVID-19 has drastically changed the way of work, communicate, &
socialize and left us with the challenge of making significant changes in a matter of days on an
extraordinary scale. Social distancing guidelines put forth by our respective governments and public
health officials have resulted schools and business closures that have affected many people and had
to cope with level of changes that are unprecedented. Online learning and working from home are
ways to easy of others for many but others might not be as good (Nikolaeva, 2019). For some
industries such as manufacturing and hospitality, the work could not be conducted online or from
home, unless business is considered ‘essential’, some workers have lost their jobs because of
pandemic.
Leaders are required to be flexible so that it is easy for them to access benefits and face
problems effectively. Main advantage of flexible leader is that they have capability to deal with
different situations in appropriate manner by using this role strategies are also easily implemented
within organisation. Moreover, pandemic situations affected the mind set of individual at larger
level as most of the people were afraid of doing jobs due to COVID19. During the occur of crisis
leaders focuses on several elements which are communication, decision making, core values,
realism, innovation, humanism etc. Perspectives of both individual and leaders are crucial and
needed to be understood in proper manner. In managing change in pandemic, both are focused
towards health and safety, security and development. It is further analysed it is essential to use
different marketing strategies to face the pandemic appropriately. Leaders of organisations uses
different types of techniques as well as methods on basis of which it is easy for them to make
appropriate decisions and deal with crisis situation in well organised way (Soria, 2019).
The perspective level of both individual and leaders have deep impact on enterprise as both
these people are responsible for generating higher productivity in firm. Through conducting a
proper market research analysis, it is easy to gain relevant information about the individual and
changing perspectives. The role of flexible leadership is helpful for both individual and enterprise
as it leads to accessing to solution of problem in effective manner.

theories of HRM such as 5P's Model is discussed as follows-
5P's Model
According to this model, it states about form of strategic HRM which was developed by
Randall S. Schuler and this model consists of five P's which are purposes, principles, processes,
people, and performance. This model reflects the with properly alignment of these components
assist in achieving of organisational goals (Reiche, 2019.
Purpose- This element depicts about mission, vision and objective of company. It is
essential to focus on achieving purpose.
Principles- These refers to guidelines or directions which are used by leaders and managers
in order to achieve objective. Principles are crucial to be adopted so that it is easy to access correct
decisions and accordingly tactics are applied.
Processes- It is another crucial element which is used to execute business activities in proper
manner by method of operation, architecture systems etc.
People- In this, people are important who have ability to deliver positive output. Without
people or individual, work cannot be done and activities cannot be processed further.
Performance- It is too essential component in which main aim is to examine and analyse
the progress level of employees by using appropriate standards. Performance is essential as it assist
in access to improvement level of subordinates.
In case of COVID19 this model can be used by leaders to access the benefits in easy way.
Also, it is necessary to have information about these HRM models as by applying of 5P's of model
leaders are able to access the firm goals in appropriate manner. Thus, it is important to use these
frameworks so that appropriate benefits are obtained. By applying this model into real course of
actions, leaders are able to achieve their set objectives and common desired goals within time
period.

of every stakeholders. Strategic leaders have wider effect on both stakeholders as well as enterprise.
In firm, most of decisions are being undertaken with consideration of stakeholders point of view.
According to the viewpoint of (Prikshat, 2018) the strategic leaders in a particular
organisation uses tools as well as techniques that can improve their effectiveness of work and
deliver positive results to business. Main focus of firm is on decision making process, strategic
thinking, with aim of accessing to objectives in most efficient manner. Moreover, with proper
internal and external analysis, it is easy to analyse what strategy is to be used by leaders. The human
resource department is required to use HR practices on basis of which it is easier to adopt strategies
& access the positive side of situation. According to BBC, they have critically evaluated that global
leaders have different way of perception and they have their own way to deal with changes in
practical life. Furthermore, globally leaders uses a detailed analysis which assist them in making
effective decisions.
From above explained paragraph, it is analysed that appropriate type of market and
environment scanning is to be done so that better strategies are implemented and situations are
being encountered in appropriate way.

After a brief analysis of above report, it has been concluded that with occur of pandemic
situation, it was difficult for firm to execute business activities in proper manner. In this changing
market situation, it is not easy to make decisions in proper manner. So, discussions have been made
about leadership methods and change management, role of flexible leadership and detailed analysis
on strategic importance. This is examined that it is necessary for enterprise to have relevant
knowledge of market and crucial factors that are needed to be adopted on basis of which it is easy to
achieve business goals without facing any issue or problem. With this changing time period, change
has become a first priority of organisation without which it is not easy to achieve competitive
benefits and goals. Furthermore, it is necessary for enterprises to focus on level of leadership and
methods used by leaders so that goals are accomplished within given period of time.
