INTRODUCTION
Managing people is the important task for the organisation because if people will
properly managed then only company can achieve success. This report will discuss meaning of
employee induction, its importance and steps included in this. Further will discuss modern
workplace and importance of induction in modern workplace.
MAIN BODY
Importance of employee induction in the workplace
Employee induction:
Employee induction is the introduction program which is held when employee joins the
company (What is an induction., 2019). Under this program HR introduce new employee with
his or her reporting manager. It is the step under which new employees are welcomed by the
company and HR also given new employee idea about their job role. Induction means
introduction of the workforce from the culture of organisation. Induction makes happy to the
employees because they are welcomed by the company. HR give knowledge to the employees
regarding rules and policies of the company.
Importance of employee induction:
Employee induction is very much important because it brings sense of belongingness in
the brain of new candidate. New candidate can feel attached and comfortable that is why
induction programs are held in the organisation. Employee induction is also helpful in reducing
employee turnover rate because through this loyalty of employee gets increases. It also leads to
motivation and due to this employees regularly takes participation in the tasks of the company
and also timely completes it. It eliminates anxiety, conflicts and bias regarding to details of the
organisation. Sense of attachment is feel by the employees for the company.
The confusion which employee is having for the company gets clear in the induction program
because after ending induction employees are asked to raise doubts if they have any. It also
improvizes image of public in the eyes of company (Podgorodnichenko and et.al., 2020). When
the reputation of the company is good in front of public then it helps company in increasing their
sales because public prefer to purchase goods and services from those companies who are having
good public image. Adjustments with co-workers becomes easy because at the time of induction

only new employees gets introduced to their colleagues which makes easy for new candidate to
start conversation with them.
Steps involved in employee induction:

New employee should have knowledge that with what people they are working with so that they
can comfortably work with. New candidate who joins company is little nervous so by knowing
their colleagues makes their work easy. HR introduces new employee with their team. Employee
will get motivation to work if they receive warm welcome from their team.
Tour of workplace:
HR should show office campus to the new employees. They must show where is toilet, kitchen,
water facility, fire exit, first aid etc so that they can use the facilities if they required. By giving
tour new joinee will get idea that where they can get facility and this will also smooth their work.
Health and safety:
health and safety procedure should told to the new employee and also should have provide them
basic training (Johennesse and Chou, 2017). As every job role in the organisation requires
different training but worker should have knowledge of how to reduce workplace risks which can
arise anytime and they should also have understanding relating to emergency procedure.
Documentation done:
Employees should give documents which they have to signed which is nothing but employment
contract. This contract will contain information regarding employee salary, benefits which they
will get, working hours etc. at this stage copies of identity proof, marksheets and employee photo
will also gets collected.
Knowledge about company's policies:
as technology is evolving so company's are providing handbook to the employees which consists
of all policies and rules of the organisation. This will contain detail of legal requirements if the
employees are liable with. And also consists of policies of company regarding leave details,
dress code or any other information.
Understanding job role:
In the induction process, employees should have call for the meetings where employees roles
and responsibilities should have explained to them. Employees will understand that what he has
to do and what is the expectation of the company from them. And also how they have to work so

Modern workplace:
Modern workplace is the organisation who introduces technology, digitalization and
advanced tools so that they can achieve growth in the future. The term modern workplace is very
common nowadays and can be heard every now and then. It separates those companies who want
to bring positive changes by taking advantages from digitalisation. Modern workplace
understands the power of digitalisation and technology so that is the reason that they adopt
advanced technology so that they can become successful in the future (Kumar and Mathimaran,
2017). Nowadays companies vert well know that if they want to beat their competitors and
increase their market share then adopting advanced technology is must.
To become modern workplace is not easy and simple procedure because it is not like that only
installing chat tool and employees will understand what to do. As employees have to give
training to the employees so that they can work by using advanced tool. Example google offices
are the modern workplace. They have area for rest and also have recreational areas where
employees can relax and can stimulate creativity. They have play rooms, cafes, garden area,
massage rooms etc.
Value of employee induction in modern workplace:
In the workplace of this era employee induction is vital as new employees will get idea
about the workplace culture. As to settle down in modern workplace is not easy so in the
induction program employees should get knowledge of their workplace culture so that they can
easily get settled. It is very important for employees to understand values of the company. In the
induction program employees should educate about the policies of the company which can be
safety, sexual harassment or any other policies of the company is having (Likhitkar and Verma,
2017). This will help employees to understand that what is allowed in the organisation and what
is not.
Through employee induction workers will easily get settled in the company by knowing their job
role and about company culture. Hence it will results in decreasing employee turnover and
increasing employee retention. In modern workplace retaining top employees are essential
because company will achieve success on the basis of their employees only. If employees will be
retained in the company then it will also save recruitment costs of the company. It will also

increases productivity because from the starting only employees will get idea that what to do and
how to do so they will not get confused regarding their job role and that will definitely increase
their productivity. It is also helpful in saving time and money of the business. Induction program
which once is made can be easily gets replicated in the future for the induction session. Although
induction program can be updated in the future if required (Gilani and Cunningham, 2017).
CONCLUSION
Through this report it can be concluded that employee induction is introducing new
employee in the company with its culture, policies etc. modern workplace are mainly attached
with technology and digitalisation. They focus on increasing market share with the help of
technology. Organisation can increase motivation and productivity of their workers by
organising effective induction program.
