Innovative Management for a Changing World
Description
I understand that management is going through a revolution that requires organization’s
managers to carry out tasks with less but do more. The managers are also supposed to engage all
workers to be in a position to notice a change and not stability. We proceed to understand that
management needs to stimulate organization's vision and cultural values that enable the
employees to form a work environment that is collaborative and productive. I have recognized
that an organization that creates change in their management systems according to Salikhova,
and Antipova (2014), establishes a system that enables the organization to overcome new
variables, challenges, and demands. We understand that leadership is a tactic that is informal and
it gets tasks done through relying more on interpersonal skills than formal power. We understand
that competition, climate change, technology, and globalization are some of the challenges that
cause uncertainty and change.
Interpretation
It was significant to understand that traditional management is more on controlling
resources while modern management is more on motivation and coordination to be able to
handle diverse challenges. For me, the most relevant issue was the four functions of
management. The management functions include planning, organizing, leading and controlling.
This means that with the availability of resources, e.g., finance, human, raw materials and IT
there is a performance like accomplishing goals, efficiency, and effectiveness. Previously I
didn’t know that innovative management involves organization re-engineering, lean
management, and total quality management.

Subsequently, business re-engineering requires a radical change from top to down to
form a new organizational structure according to (Bonnardel, Attias & Donada, 2016). For me,
learning arose from understanding that conceptual skills, human skills, and technical skills are
critical management skills. Managers must study and understand different roles. Subsequently, I
noticed that one of the significant roles is decision making entailing negotiating, allocating
resources and solving conflicts. For me, the most relevant idea was the stages of change
management as pointed out by Salikhova, and Antipova (2014) to being defining objectives,
developing strategy, engineering change and strengthening the innovational procedure.
Evaluation
Having learned the Innovative Management for a Changing World, I now realize that a
manager administers while a leader innovates and a manager puts focus on structures and
systems, while a leader focuses on people. Furthermore, I have learned that a manager depends
on control, while a leader inspires trust. I have significantly improved my skills in understanding
organizational behavior that employees emotions and attitudes impact considerably on work
behavior. Innovation is a crucial factor when it comes to organizations being competitive.
Additionally, as pointed out by Tiftik and Zincirkiran (2013), to be innovative, employees need
new expertise and skills to apply their existing experience and skills efficiently. Having analyzed
management, I now realize that management has two sides, i.e., management and leading.
Management involves resources, planning while leading consists of accomplishing objectives
through employees. More importantly, becoming a manager requires learning to live with
pressure and mess and also involves a change of personal identity.

Plan
Being an organization member, I will ensure that I practice modern management which
involves encouraging and organizing. This knowledge will be essential to me as a learner
because I will engage all employees and motivate with a vision. This means that in planning, I
will select goals and ways of accomplishing them and in controlling, I will observe activities and
make corrections where necessary. I also need to lead using influence to encourage employees
and organize by assigning tasks to specific individuals for accomplishment. Through learning, to
deal with stress, conflicts, human relationships and change uncertainty, I am in a position of
becoming a manager in most of the organizations. This knowledge is useful to me as a learner
because I will transform from performing specific tasks to coordinating diverse tasks and also
change from acting individually to building a network. As a future manager, I will ensure that
my management is innovative for the changing world by utilizing management competencies
such as leading teams, enabling, mobilizing for change and empowering
