AI Summary
This report presents an analysis of the risks and disasters impacting hospitality organizations, based on a survey of 25 respondents. The findings indicate that branding risks, physical crime, and staff loss significantly affect the performance and reputation of these organizations. The survey reveals that branding risks often lead to a decline in brand recognition and customer loyalty, while physical crime, including credit card theft, increases employee turnover and reduces tourist confidence. Staff loss, driven by factors such as lack of opportunities and poor relationships, further exacerbates operational costs and reduces productivity. The report discusses the steps organizations can take to manage these risks, including enhancing security measures, engaging in corporate social responsibility, and improving employee relations. The study emphasizes the need for proactive risk management strategies to maintain brand value, ensure customer safety, and improve employee retention in the hospitality industry.

4.5: Discussion
The researcher has conducted a survey to get the opinion of the respondents regarding
the factors that will help in managing the risks and disasters that are present within the
hospitality industry. It can be seen form the survey that most of the participants were male
who belong to the age group of 31-36 years and has a level of income of AUD 16000-20000.
This has resulted in limiting the study to a certain section of the population so that the
responses can be collected in a proper manner. It can also be seen that most of the male
respondents were eager in taking part in the survey that was conducted by the researcher.
The majority of the respondents have stated that the organization has faced the risks
that are present in branding in the past five years. This has affected the organization in a
negative manner, as the negative effects of branding has resulted in loss of customers within
the industry. The branding of the organizations need to be done in a proper manner so that it
can help in increasing the value of the company in the market. This will result in attracting
more number of customers towards the company so that the level of profit for the company

can be increased. The risk that is present in the organization needs to be mitigated so that it
can help in increasing the attractiveness in the market. Due to the effect of intense
advertising, it can be seen that branding plays an important role in increasing the image of the
brand within the industry.
The vision and mission that is present within the organization helps in increasing the
brand so that it can meet the expectations of the customers in a proper manner. It will also
result in increasing the identity of the brand in the market so that the company is placed in a
better manner on the priority list of the customers. It will also help the company in increasing
the equity of the brand in the market. The use of branding results in increasing the attraction
of the company in the market so that the level of profits for the company can be affected in a
positive manner. The upper management needs to have proper skills and knowledge so that it
can result in taking up proper initiatives so that the branding of the company can be done in a
proper manner.
What was the nature of the risk?
The risk suffered by organisation was that crime in the sector had increased and at the
same time the rate of employee turnover increased. Therefore, the nature of risk of the
organisation is high as with an increased crime rate and high staff turnover, the morale of
working in the sector was low. The impact of theft of credit card can cause a huge risk for the
tourists as details regarding the bank are exposed and therefore, the safety and security of the
tourists cannot be maintained.
What was the effect on the performance of the company?
The effect of the risk on the company is that it had decreased the level of productivity
and loss of competitiveness of the company. Therefore, it can result in the loss of loyalty of
the tourists. Tourists loyal to the company may have doubts over visiting the company and

therefore, lead to a high turnover rate as the employees will be left with no payment and job
satisfaction. This in turn can reduce the market return on investment and at the same time
result in the loss of finances for the company. At the same time word of mouth promotion
may have a negative effect on the reputation of the company due to the risks.
What effect if any did it have on the employees?
Due to the increased rate of crimes, the rate of employee turnover for the company
increased thereby reducing the performance of the company. The turnover was mainly due to
the increased rate of crime in the company and it resulted in the loss of tourists. Thereby the
employees were forced to leave the company and it turned out to be a huge loss for the
company.
The respondents who participated in the survey have stated that the main reason that
affects the branding risk is that the recognition of the brand gets reduced. This will result in
decreasing the attractiveness of the company in the market, as the customers will not be able
to associate themselves with the brand. It will result in decreasing the revenue of the
organization, as the loss of brand value will have a negative impact on the customers. The
companies need to increase its marketing technique on the social media platforms so that it
can result in increasing the attractiveness of the customers towards the organization. The
extensive use of social media is being done by the customers in the recent times, as it allows
the customers to get a better knowledge regarding the things that are happening in their
surroundings.
The limited use of the strategies that are present in the brand exposure are done by the
companies that results in the lack of the recognition of the brand in the market. The
organizations do not expose the brand in the right manner, which may assist them on
focussing on the selected products and services that are in demand within the hospitality
