SELF REFLECTION
Personal development planning is a proper framework which is used for creating an
action plan based on the awareness, values, reflection, goal setting and planning for the self-
development in context of career, relationship, education or for self-improvement (Evertson, and
Weinstein, 2013). Present report is a reflective account on the progress, learning and skills which
I have achieved during ongoing HR training programme I have embarked upon. The major areas
that I need to cover involves usefulness of assessment feedback in order to facilitate growth and
for analysing areas which are required to be improved in my learning. The extent of development
of some transferable skills and overview of meeting and training with my personal development
tutor and the problems related to my personal skills and learning.
Further, important areas for future development will be identified with a view on how to
address them, all of which will move towards improving and increasing my personal experience
and indeed professional development (Easterby-Smith and Cunliffe, 2017). As a skilled and
matured students with professional experience of this course I feel that I have developed self-
discipline, which is considered as important for learning. Through this course, I have developed
own strength and confidence in all the transferable skills such as effective learning,
communication, team work and information technology. These important skills have been
developed through both the coursework and placement. I have also felt confident about own
verbal communication whereas, I was concerned in context of my knowledge and leaderships
skills which are impeded by low motivation and dyslexia which have resulted in poor
coordination, spelling, analysing problems, grammatical mistakes and problems in organizing the
work as well as time management.
Study of this professional course has supported me to analyse the significance all aspects
of communication; both verbal and non-verbal. At the time of learning in class and practical
training, I have continuously practised to improve my conceptual and communication skills
which have enabled me to interact with the people from diversified cultures and backgrounds.
Lifelong learning is the most important programs that help individuals to concentrate on
development of skills, knowledge and abilities which are required to achieve career goals and
objectives (Wiseman, and Hunt, 2013). For example: while I was working in class with my
classmates, I have observed various types of problems faced by the students. Those problems are
effectively resolved by the manager through proper interaction with employees. From this

scenario, I have learnt that good communication skills are essential for effective human resource
management in organization. Proper communication can help to motivate and encourage students
at workplace (Bentley, 2012).
At the initial stage, I was having limited knowledge and understanding of problems
which are to be faced in class project. My culture inhibited by personality and ability to interact
effectively with the employees and other colleagues. This problem was caused due to lack of
previous experience in management of students at workplace and lack of understanding about the
HR activities which are needed to be performed in class. For development of skills and career in
the field of HR, I have decided to develop an integrated personal development plan which
consists of various steps and provided major support in increasing my motivation and progress in
learning. This effective planning has provided self-awareness by creating an understanding about
my values, beliefs and analysis of career objective (Evertson, and Weinstein, 2013).
Through this, I had improved my focus and effectiveness towards learning by taking
feedbacks from superiors and prioritization which has become much easier. This effective
planning has also provided self-confidence and motivation by increasing my personal and
professional skills. I believe that the way of learning is to become an autonomous learner which
in itself requires appropriate communication skills and discipline. With effective personal
development planning, I have developed good time management skills, especially for meeting
deadlines in submission of assignments and for combining studies with domestic requirements.
Assessment of feedback from the tutor is also considered to be important for learning. It provides
an awareness of what needs to be done and improved, both in the theoretical and practical work
(Burden, 2016). Whilst evaluation of my feedback sheet on the role and function of human
resource trainee will provide support in analysing the performance.
I felt that the marks which I had received was above my expectations which have left me
feeling positive and motivated to continue the good steady progress. I found the research section
quite challenging and spent many hours preparing my report. In order to manage the stress,
assertiveness and poistive thinking for development career plans, I have observed previous
experience of my seniors and realized how they have performed their tasks and achieved their
goals. I have also removed the stress and remained positive while working through effective time
management. However, I constantly relied on my mentor’s guidance. Through the advice and
feedback on my performances and by observing my mentors and other classmates, I was able to

develop strategies on how to achieve career objectives and overcome the problems of
communication on placement (Jennings and et.al., 2013). With continuous learning, my personal
skills have been improved as I was able to get learning and analysing situations by carrying out
an assessment.
In the future, I hope to ensure effective and proper communication in my daily personal
and professional activities, development on my personal strengths and I will improve leadership
skills and able to find out the problems and difficulties along with the ways to identify the
solutions to problems. I have felt that I performed well as the task done the things which I had
never done before like managing work and team, taking employee's feedback as well as
administration of work. Personally, I have also found that this theoretical and practical training
was the biggest learning curve for me and influenced my learning as well as experience
immensely.
