INTRODUCTION
Sustainable tourism concept means to visit some tourist destination and make efforts to
give positive impact on economy, environment and society (Harris, Williams and Griffin, 2012).
Tourisms is also one of the important source for foreign currency exchange, employment
generation, etc. In this report, there is discussion about Manchester city in North West of
England. In this city, there are places for arts, media, higher education etc.. As working in
government tourism department of Manchester. Delegates from South America are arriving to
visit Manchester and to analyse sustainability of various destinations, so presentation has to be
make for their arrival. There is discussion about planning process for sustainable development,
measures taken to reduce negative impact on environment. At last briefing notes has to be
presented in local newspaper.

3.1 Measure to minimise negative environmental impacts
Environment is one of the most import factor which helps to make good image of
Manchester in mind of visitors. So local government body has to take actions in order to
minimize negative impact over environment. Some of them are discussed as under-
There must be optimal use of water. There must be guidelines for visitors to use water in
best and effective way.
In seasonal time of tourism, there is overcrowding of visitors which affects natural
environment in adverse manner.
Hotels, transport agencies, etc. must focus on consumption of solar energy through solar
heaters. This helps to conserve resources (Lee, 2013).
Paper bags, recycled product has to be produced for visitors. They are cheap as well as
environmental friendly.
Car pooling is one of the best way to save fuel and save environment too. Because of
over crowding of foreigners, there are possibilities of more pollution in environment. Cab
provides facility of car pooling which helps to save environment.
3.2 Measures to minimise negative socio-cultural impacts
Socio- cultural factors describes the beliefs, values, attitude, opinions present in external
environment of company. Tourism has some negative impact on society. There are some social

and cultural values of Manchester which has to be considered by visitors (Yasarata and et. al.,
2010). To reduce negative socio-cultural impact following steps has to be taken-
There must be strict regulations related to drinking and eating habits for visitors.
At cultural places, there must not be any kind of miss-happening. In case of miss-
conduct, there must be strict punishment.
Guide must instruct visitors how to behave at some particular place such as museum, etc.
It is essential to inform visitors about culture of resident place, so there will no harm to
emotions of local people (Matarrita-Cascante, Brennan and Luloff, 2010).
There is difference in taste and culture of visitors, hence local bodies such as municipal
communities, politician party, etc. of Manchester has to create some separate areas for
them. For instance, there must be separate dinner facility of visitors according to their
culture, taste, religion.
3.3 Measure to raise positive economic impact
Tourism is the sector which plays very important role in developing economy of nation.
Government of Manchester plays essential role in improving and framing economic policies. It is
essential to raise economic standards of Manchester. This can be done through-

treated. They want to avail services from same brand (Palacios, 2010). When visitors visit laces
then there is increment in profits of organisation. Managers must emphasise on customer demand
customer satisfaction gets enhanced. There is difference in ethical values of customers, amanger
must keep this factor in mind and provide appropriate services such as hygienic factor, personal
factor, etc.

4.1 Viewpoints of host communities involved in destination development
Host communities are the people involved in research work. According to view point of
host community people, places of Manchester such as Manchester Art Gallery, Notional Football
Museum, Emiartes Old Traffod, etc. are few places for tourist development (Scheyvens, 2011).
These places are use proper techniques to safeguard historical and natural resources which helps
to make good impression in mind of customers. Visitors are aware of regulations followed at
such places. Local bodies keeps eyes on infrastructure, cleanliness of such places. There is
pollution as per specified limit because people visit in groups so transportation facilities are also
proper. There are some measures to conserve to conserve energy.
Mongolia and Montenegro this is also known as stunning coastline. This destination
explores Gobi desert with comfort of traditional Yurt.
Luang Prabang in Loas is one of the best destination which welcomes monks and provide
them environment of peace and purity. This destination is recently known for cultural
rich and listed for UNESCO Heritage.
4.2 Recommendations to preserve the environmental and social fabric of a destination
Heaton Park of Manchester is one of the best example of tourist destination. This is one
of the largest municipal garden of Europe. This was built in 1772 and this park covers around
600 acres area. This includes garden, golf course, walking track, tennis court, woodland,
ornamental garden, etc. This is the place where various natural vegetation resides, so it is
essential to make policies which preserve them (Reihanian and et. al., 2012).
There must not be use of vehicles near by area of garden up to specified limit. There must
be use of electric vehicle.
There must be dumping of garbage anywhere. There must be proper dumping system,
drainage system.
Management of park must keep eyes on cleanliness aspects.

There must be provision of punishment in case of spiting of flowers, wastage of water,
dumping of garbage at wrong pace.
There must be solar heaters which must be used in order to lighting at night.
4.3 Justification of recommendations
Above mentioned points are important and effective for creating good environment at
work place. It is essential to make changes in accordance to conserve environment. With the help
of solar heater, it is easy to conserve energy and it can be used for lighting park. There must be
charges for visiting museum, so every body can not enter. This helps to conserve infrastructure
of museum and maintenance can be properly done. With the help of proper dumping system,
cleanliness will be there and people prefer to re- visit park (Ruhanen, 2013). With the view of
museum, there is awareness among society related to old and antique elements.
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion, concept of sustainable development is cleared. There is
requirement of proper planning which helps to deliver best services. These policies has to be
considered in order to make local bodies aware of policies. Measures has to be taken by local
bodies to reduce negative impact on environment, socio-cultural, economic factors. Planning can
be done through approaches such as community, integrated, system, continuous and flexible
approaches. This helps to cover every concept of planning. As per discussion, there are
possibilities of dispute among local people because of variations in cost of product and services.
Hence tourism department has to take actions in order to overcome it.
