The book talks about the process of the assembly line about the manufacturing process that
depends on the subjective matter why the author feels happier by reading the books rather than
standing with the engines. The author also shared the experience how the author spends the
holidays writing an essay on the aspects of the French literature. The author stood in front of the
automotive plant located in the Michigan district along with the subassemblies associated with
the car manufacturers. The author shared his experiences of working in the factories that
surrounds the hometown in every summer season from the time the author has graduated from
the high school.
The author however chose to work rather than in the various bus tables and the other
sweatshirts at the time of various overtime pay that was the time between the school and the
other full time blue collar work during the break of that year. The author also expressed the
pleasure in the spending of his school days in comparison with his present work. The lessons
learnt will be quite valuable. The author shares the dilemma of his thoughts where he first thinks
about the value of his education which he has received at the cost of the school days of the
unfortunate students and at the same time he also feels that though his present job is giving him a
decent salary but it is becoming difficult for the author to retain the load of the work on a
physical basis.
