MAIN BODY
How has the group of young adults been marginalised?
Young adults, who are in their mid-twenties, are the most likely to start using substances.
There are many reasons that can contribute to their use of substances and one of them can be lack
of support from family members. People who are in their twenties are still in their development
stage and it is important for their families to understand this (Watts and et.al., 2020). The family
members should be supportive of their children's decisions and should not just push their
decisions on them. There are many young adults living in California, United States who are a
prey of substance abuse. As a result, they take part in risky activities like dangerous driving and
inappropriate behaviour. The group of young adults is mostly marginalised due to lack of support
from their families, the parents do not show much concern about their children. Besides this, the
family never spends time together due to which, the young people start isolating themselves.
Also, there are many cases wherein the parents of young adults are always fighting and
have no clue about what is going on in their child's life (Isakssonnd et.al., 2020). As a result, the
child is left helpless and gradually gets into using substances like drugs, increased alcohol intake
etc. This can be because of various reasons like want to get be accepted by their friends and get
rid of various problems like depression, stress-related disorders and anxiety. Also, young adults

want to try different new experiences and these specially include the ones that are daring and
thrilling. A lack of family support can lead them to trying out these things initially because of
excitement and then gradually this can lead to becoming serious and pose different health
problems. Such people are usually discriminated and they deal with unfair treatments. It is a
natural tendency for the families of young adults to be aware of if their children use any kind of
substance. And any kind of negligence in this can lead to creating serious problems not only for
their children, but the family members as well.
The substance abuse can lead to the intake of various illegal substances like
heroin,,marijuana, club drugs etc. by the young adults. It is extremely important for the family
members to take notice of any change in the behaviour of their child, who is in mid-twenties
(Strømmenand et.al., 2020). These substances can prove to be dangerous for the young adults as
they can have a direct negative impact on their minds. Substance intake can blur the memory
which cause blur spots. So, when they try to think, they can't do so properly. Studies have shown
that young adults living in California, who do not have any kind of support from their families,
are the ones who get into using drugs and other substances. Besides this, drug use also destroys
the creativity levels of the young adults. Therefore, it can be said that young adults are the ones
who are the most risk of using various substances.
