INTRODUCTION
It's time to reflect on my career path and how to achieve my career growth goals after
completing the study report assignment on developments in marketing employment and
employability (Jordà, Schularick and Taylor, 2016). The ever-increasing rivalry in the corporate
world forces businesses to rethink their job descriptions in order to remain successful in
attracting and retaining highly skilled employees. As a result, my dream of becoming a
marketing executive can only come true if I keep up with evolving work requirements and
improve my skills. So far, the completed research in Assignment 1 has served as a revelation that
has pointed the marketing sector in the right direction. As a result, I owe it to myself to focus on
my own professional development practises and build a Career Action Plan based on a
comparison of my current knowledge, skills, and experiences to the criteria outlined in
Assignment 1. Since interpersonal skills are so important to a marketer, my teamwork
experience, skills, and future developments are also important. As a result, there are two main
parts to this report: a personal reflection (personal review, distance analysis, and career action
plan) and a reflection on my teamwork skills.
MAIN BODY
PERSONAL EVALUATION
Personal research, difference analysis, and a career action plan are the topics of this portion
of the study. In this portion, I'll assess my current abilities, expertise, and experience against the
competency criteria outlined in Assignment 1. This section's details will aid in the development
of a career action plan.
Personal Analysis
My pursuit of a career in business is well-informed, thanks to a strong background in
business studies in high school. Joining Hertfordshire University to pursue a degree in Business
Administration with a Marketing focus was a significant step forward in my career. Hertfordshire
University has provided me with a variety of skills and expertise, as well as influenced my
understanding of marketing, in light of the current emphasis on universities meeting the demands
and needs of students. My time management, communication, and teamwork skills have all
improved as a result of the assignments, workshops, and career training programmes. I've also
learned a lot about analysis and analytical skills, both of which are important for any marketer.

Currently, I have a strong grasp of research and planning, which is essential for conducting
marketing research, analysing data, and making recommendations to the organisation about the
viability of a given market segment. I've honed my online analysis skills in order to advance my
career as a potential marketing executive. Some of the Hertfordshire University course units have
aided in the improvement of my critical thinking skills and interpersonal development. Today,
the majority of employers are searching for workers who have strong analytical thinking skills
and the ability to assess and evaluate circumstances. I was able to objectively examine different
scenarios in case studies as a result of my course work, and I was able to make decisions and
suggestions for solving specific problems. This ability is critical to my professional
advancement. Project management skills, client experience management skills, analytical skills,
and holistic skills in solving business problems are some of the other important skills I currently
possess (Márquez-Chamorro, Resinas and Ruiz-Cortés, 2017).
Gap Analysis
While I have a strong theoretical background, I lack the practical skills required to further
improve my marketing abilities. Technically, I'm quite a novice. Despite the fact that the course
provided me with some technological skills to keep up with new technology, I still need to
expand my knowledge in this field because technology will continue to revolutionise marketing.
I'm looking forward to becoming more familiar with marketing-related technical tools and
applications (Sorescu, 2017).
Career Action Plan
I want to develop and enhance my technical skills in order to become an outstanding
marketing executive. I want to do three things in order to develop this ability. To begin, I'd like
to sign up for a free online course through Coursera to improve my technical skills. Coursera
offers a variety of fundamental marketing skills courses, such as Internet, Technology, and
Security, Computational Methods for Data Analysis, and Introduction to Finance. Second, I'm
going to subscribe to Makeuseof's RSS Feed, which will teach me how to programme. This
feature will assist me in creating and maintaining consumer websites in order to expand online
marketing at my potential business. Finally, in order to improve my professional writing and
communication skills, I will begin blogging. My Career Action Plan is detailed in Appendix 1 at
the end of the document (Nußholz, 2017).

TEAM SKILLS AND DEVELOPMENT
Anyone looking for work in the marketing industry should have a strong background in
interpersonal skills. Most of the time, marketers participate in intimate relationships. As a result,
possessing a strong teamwork spirit will assist a marker in establishing and maintaining working
relationships with other employees as well as customers. I was a part of a community of three
dedicated and enthusiastic people. Despite the fact that I never held a leadership position in my
squad, I always tried to cheer up my teammates when things went wrong (Rahimi, Møller and
Hvam, 2016).
We practised embedded teamwork in our community, in which the team leadership
fostered favourable conditions that allowed ideas and people to perform and flourish together. As
a positive team member, I was always focused on incorporating other people's strengths in order
to develop a supportive partnership and network with others while pursuing challenging but
achievable team goals.
I still had a good working relationship with my co-workers on the team. Whenever we
had a group project, I tried to consult my colleagues to get their thoughts about how things could
be handled in order to accomplish the team's common goal. I used constructive feedback to
develop my interpersonal skills. I believe that my academic ability to collaborate with my
colleagues is a strong starting point for developing my interpersonal skills in the workplace.
In the future, I want to improve my leadership skills so that I can manage marketing
activities and advance to senior roles in my career. My leadership mission is to assist others in
growing and collaborating with others to achieve the company's marketing goals and objectives.
Employers are looking for workers who can work in a diverse team, as mentioned in Assignment
1. Appendix 2 contains a comprehensive STAR (Situation, Task, Action, and Result)
competency structure for working in a dynamic team (Weissbrodt and Kruger, 2017).
CONCLUSION
I've discovered a variety of things I need to do to improve my employability as a result of
this contemplation. Technical skills, leadership skills, customer experience management skills,
team building skills, and analysis skills have all been valued throughout my marketing career. I
recognise the value of improving my technical skills to improve my competency and
employability in the ever-changing marketing sector as a result of the gap study. By enrolling in

the free online courses, I will be able to improve my online marketing skills, which is a crucial
skill in this technologically developing area.
