STEP 3- SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS
Facebook
This is most common and second most popular social media platform in the social networking
sites of the world. It is a social site that is thriving at high rates through acquiring other social
networking sites like Instagram and WhatsApp. Facebook has more than 2 billion active users
every month and the numbers are increasing daily. Facebook supports the posting of web links,
videos, images and statements or quotes. All these represent messages that target certain users,
either specifically or generally. According to Tucker, 2014, the site is capable of advertising job
vacancies, products and services and their product lines, upcoming business enterprises among
other things. In that case, Facebook can also be used to advertise one’s job qualification by
uploading their resume, certifications and other qualifications.
Twitter
This is basically a platform that encourages the real time updates of the users. Just as Facebook,
it is a platform that has evolving at high rates. It is known for its 140 character limitation of a
post. However, this has increased its popularity to its users because it helps one post their actual
message directly. Despite the limitation, the platform supports the posting of messages in various
ways, e.g. statements, images, links and videos (Karimkhani et al, 2014). With that in mind, the
platform can be used to advertise business ideas on their products, job vacancies and other news
that a user may need to display to the world. Therefore, it can be used to advertise a job
qualification stating the specific job and the overall qualification.
LinkedIn
This is a platform that is used especially by professionals to advertise their job qualifications, job
vacancies and careers. This platform is basically used to help employees and potential employees
advance their career goals and achieve career objectives. A user creates an account where they
create their profiles in details. These profiles contain work qualification, certifications and
resume. The resumes must be well detailed with aspects like: working experience, life or work
awards, volunteer work engagement, education levels and any other aspect that is related to
work. The LinkedIn users have the opportunity to create valuable connections, apply and

advertise jobs vacancies to name just but a few things. Therefore, this means that this platform is
one of the best platforms that one can use to advertise themselves for a job vacancy.
Instagram
This platform has recently grown to be one of the most popular social networking sites for image
sharing. It represents real life moments of the users. It allows the posting of images, links and
videos. It is an upcoming platform in terms of business advertisement platforms. In that case,
business are usually able to post their product images, videos and web links for further reference.
The businesses have the opportunity to advertise their job vacancies, product or service
development and any other information on business development and growth to their followers
in Instagram. Through this, even the potential employees and current employees have the chance
to view job advertisements as well as advertise their qualifications to their followers.
From the four social media platforms discussed above, the best two sites of my choice are:
Facebook and LinkedIn. The reason for choosing Facebook is simply because it is the most
common and most popular sites of all. It has more number of users than other sites. Publishing
my work profile and resume in Facebook, I will be able to reach and connect with more people
and businesses which means better chances of getting a job. To add to that, this will also increase
the chances of my profile being viewed by more people than when published in other social
networking sites (Mowbray et al, 2017). Additionally, the chances of the number of job vacancy
suggestions being more is very high which also increases my chances of getting a job.
The reason for choosing LinkedIn as my second choice is simply because it will help me
professionally. This platform is more of professional use than social connection. Therefore, it
will help me to develop my profession and career better than other platforms. I will be able to get
a glimpse of which jobs I can apply for, which I am qualified for, how to write the best resumes,
what kind of questions expected in an interview, which job vacancies are available in which
companies among other things. By publishing my resume in LinkedIn, I will be able to obtain
more, better and valuable professional help than in other platforms. In that case, this platform
will help me build and develop my career better and faster than other platforms.
