INTRODUCTION
The process of self-reflection includes the activity of thinking regarding one's own
feelings as well as behaviours along with the reasons that might be lied behind them. This
process facilitates an individual in examining and exploring itself, its perspectives, features,
actions as well as experiences. This facilitates in gaining the insight and states the process of
moving forward (Ahmad, 2018). This assignment is based on an essay in which a self-reflection
is going to be presented on the chosen BA pathway. In order to do assessment, the chosen BA
pathway is Marketing and in relation to it, the model of Gibb's Reflection cycle will be
conducted.
MAIN BODY
The model of Gibbs Reflective Cycle is considered as a model of self-reflection as well
as a tool of management that assists people in thinking in a systematic and well-defined way
regarding the experiences that have already gained by an individual while completing a
particular task or an activity. This self-reflection model has helped me in my learning
experiences as it has allowed me to improve my performance as it was happening and also
improving it for the future period of time. In this essay, the chosen subject is marketing and there
is a description of all the five stages of this model:
Description: This is the first stage of Gibbs Reflective model and within the foundation
year, when my teachers were teaching me various subjects, I identified that I have keen
interest in the field of marketing. The teachers had taught me different aspects within this
topic and with the support of this subject, I will gain knowledge related to the concept of
marketing in a precise manner. The process of marketing will also facilitate me in
interacting with a large number of people and will also help me in making a wide
network of people (Dahl, Peltier and Schibrowsky, 2018). With the help of gaining
understanding on the marketing subject, I can show the depth of my understanding of the
market-base to whom I will offer the services in my future period of time. At this stage of
the reflective model, I can also develop a wide variety of skills and abilities such as
communication skills, interpersonal skills, time management skills, problem-solving
skills, decision-making skills and many more within me that will help me in further
education as well as at employment.

Feelings: This is the second stage of Gibbs Reflective Model and at this stage, I felt
nervous and observed that I was lacking in various skills that are concerned with the
subject of marketing. I also felt that if I will develop multiple skills such as
communication skills, time management skills, problem-solving skills within me then I
can easily communicate with other people and can make the decisions in tough situations.
At this stage, I thought to develop these skills and identified the ways through which I
can develop such skills (Ertimur and Lavoie, 2019). I also felt that if I unable to develop
these skills then I would waste my time and will get nothing in return, however, at same
time I also felt that at least I will gain the experience while developing such skills within
me.
Evaluation: At the third stage of Gibb's Reflective model, I have evaluated within my
foundation year that the understanding of the chosen topic of marketing will help me in
gaining a wide variety of opportunities within my career. I have also evaluated that the
development of several kinds of skills within me will help in creating me an effective
human resource. At this stage of the self-reflective model, I have also made an evaluation
regarding the topic of marketing that this topic will help me in getting interacting with a
lot of people. I also evaluated that making a large number of network of people will
enhance my efficiency and the base of knowledge as I can gain significant information
from them in respect to the market as well as its conditions.
Analysis: This is the fourth stage of the Gibb's Reflective Cycle and at this stage I have
analysed that choosing the topic of marketing is really beneficial for me in such a way
that through gaining insight of the marketing process, I can get the job opportunity of a
marketing manager. I also analysed that if I will work as a marketing manager within an
organisation, then I will get into contact with a large number of people. In order to do
effective communication with them and solving their problems along with taking
effective decisions, I can gain the competitive advantages over my competitors within the
market place (Gountas and et.al., 2019). Addition to it, I have also analysed that the
development of such types of skills will support me in making me an effective personnel.
Conclusion: This is the last stage of Gibb's Reflective Cycle and this stage, I have
concluded that gaining the understanding of marketing as a chosen topic has really
benefited me in various ways. With the help of this reflective cycle, I an able to gain the

key information regarding this particular topic in a very precise manner. It has also
concluded that now I am developed with a variety of skills that would help me in chasing
competitive benefits in this competitive world. At the last stage of this reflective cycle, I
am able to enhance the self-awareness level as well as consciousness regarding the
practice within me.
CONCLUSION
From above explanation, it has been concluded that the process of self-reflection helps a
person in enabling an individual in moving from just experiencing into the the concept of
understanding. Within this essay, a self-reflection has been conducted with the help of Gibb's
Reflection model that facilitates in evaluating and analysing the experiences that have gained in
studying a specialised subject on the foundation year. The challenges that have occurred have
also been taken into consideration and there has been also a description on the reasons of
choosing the subject along with the development of skills that would help in further education
and at workplace.
