Facility management operations
Facility management is one of the main function of hotel which include management of
all people, services, processes as well as tools which are required to run a facility at a level which
helps them in accomplishing goals (Wei and Akinci, 2019). One of the main aim of facility
manager of Marriott hotel is to deliver excellent and support services for the hotel that they
serve. Oversees daily operations in order to provide facilities and ease to all in performing their
functions.
Important skills and importance of facility management operations
Proactive: Understanding needs as well as issues which employees are facing before
they take actions and they know, is one of the main important skill. By having this skill, facility
manager can makes its activities and keep all employees satisfied.
Time management: Managing time is crucial in facility management operations because
customers prefers fast and effective services and managing several customers at a time makes
them feel valued.
Flexibility: It is identified that hotel sector is changing sector where customers need keep
changing so, having an ability to adapt changes and situation is important skill in facility
management operations (Sarpin and et.al., 2018).
Engaging workforce: Managing all operations and facility management, it is important
to have an ability to engage employees and make them able to cooperate hotel. During the trip, it
is identified that cooperation makes all performance effective.
Legal understanding: Managing all functions in an ease manner, require having
knowledge of all legal rules and understanding. During the trip, I found that facility manager of
Marriott has deep understanding of legality which helped him in taking appropriate decisions.
Impact of facility management operations on development of knowledge and skills
I found that an effective facility management operations does not only impact on the
company but has on an overall environment. I came to know that one of the main important skill
which can make a facility manager effective in their performance is efficiency and confidence.
Confidence is one of the main skill which does not only help at professional level but also
helpful in personal life (Hong and Lee, 2018). During the trip and visiting hotel, I also knew that
employees are the key of the success and should be considered as the main resource and should
be given priority because they are the one who support company in accomplishing goals.

Constitute good practices in facility management operations
Collecting informations: Managing operations in an ease manner requires to have an
ability to identify the best technique and for that it is important to have a lot of informations. An
ability to gather informations and selecting the best one is constituted practice (Onwuanyi and
Oyetunji, 2016.).
Building team: Teaching team about profit and loss and difference between good things
and bad things improve image and productivity.
Ways to develop facility management operations skills to meet organizational requirements
Facility management is to manage day to day operations, people and processes in a
facility and ease manner which require of having some skills. There are some ways by which all
these skills can be improved such as:
Team working: Team working is the best way of increasing skills required in facility
management. It allows people in increasing their skills and having different knowledge and ways
of performing activities in the best way (Cetin, Demirciftci and Bilgihan, 2016).
Value creation: One of the main key of the success is relied on costs as facility manager needs
to identify that how to get more for less through cost-cutting. So, by focusing more on value
creation area and identifying all those areas in which they can cut cost and improve services is
the best way of increasing skills of facility management.
