INTRODUCTION
Business environment is an intermixture of internal and external factors that has a huge
impact on firm's performance and production level. In this modern era, wide range of
organisations are getting emerging at marketplace by having certain motives. For instance – the
prime motive of private companies is to generate higher profits whereas public companies are
tend to provide maximum satisfaction level to public (Shenkar, Luo and Chi, 2014). The present
assignment is based upon Marriott Hotel which is one of the leading chain of hospitality industry
by having branches over the world. Apart from this, the report is going to be described various
business functions in order to accomplish corporative goals and objectives. Furthermore,
different stages of team development will also defines later.

2.1 Importance of accounting for business success
In order to run a business effectively, there is required appropriate data, accurate
information about assets, reports, debts, profits and liabilities. Although, accounting has a
significant role in decision making and management body of a corporate association. Because
management cannot make any necessary decision without having a proper information to back it
up. In addition, the prime objective of accounting is to keep information about financial
transactions in accounting books and determines profits or loss as well as assess the financial
position of the company (Storey, 2016). Last year, the firm has invested in 2700 hotels, in returns
it has gained profits of 3005 on them which is higher than its competitors. Additionally,
Marriott has purchased almost 30 million shares from its common stock whereas in 2018 it
repurchased over 2.5 million shares which are valued by $320 million. Along with this,
accounting prevents misuse of assets, controlling costs, enhancing production and supports in
raising efficiency to entire business organisation. Basically, in general P&L account spilt in two
sections, such as- Revenues – it consists entire information of all incomes which is generated from primary
business activities, i.e. sale of products and services. On the other hand, revenue is gained
from secondary activities, i.e. bank interest as well as further monetary incomes. In

addition, secondary revenues are unpredictable so as to grow at market, management
should focus on primary sales revenues (Ward, 2016).
Expenses - It encompasses with all expenditure on primary activities, such as- labour
costs and material.
5.1 Functions of HR department in business
The human resource department is liable to control different functions of every business
organisation, it involves record keeping, labour law compliance, compensation, recruitment,
training and development etc. Following are the main functions of HR for a business: -
Recruitment and selection – It is the process of screening, captivating and selecting
potential as well as qualified candidates who match specific job criteria. The prime goal of this is
to attract qualified applicants and encourage people to opt them out (Dunning, 2014).
Training and development – It is one of the fundamental elements of human asset
administration. It is the endeavour to enhance the present or future execution of a worker by
expanding the capacity of a representative through teaching and expanding one's abilities or
information in the specific subject.
Maintaining Good Working Conditions – Another main role of human resource manager
is to render good working conditions to employees as they like working environment. It is
necessary for management to encourage or inspire employees as they can contribute to
accomplish business goals and objectives.
5.3 Key features of employment legislation
In UK, legal bodies or authorities has a vital role in protecting employees from any kind
of exploitations or related activities as well as preserve them to get misuse. Basically, employee
laws are formulated in order to boost up workers' performance by acquiring effective plans and
procedures which ensure market growth and success (Doppelt, 2017). Additionally, these
legitimate bodies involves different acts or laws so as to defend workers from dangerous
situations at workplace. Minimum wages act – It focuses that each and every individual at workplace should be
provided minimum wages according their job role or working experience, so as to fulfil
their needs and demands.

expenses incurred for a certain time period. Such records render proper information towards a
firm's ability so as to build profits in terms of raising annual revenues and eliminating costs. In
addition, Profit and loss account statement involves different statement, i.e. income and expense
statement, statement of financial results and operations (Palattella and et. al., 2016). Marriott
Hotel is a growing business, it invest in several areas so as to earn high income or profits. In year
2017, annual profits of the firm has been increased by 40% in comparison with previous results.
It is valued on yearly basis thus the organisation has gain maximum profits in 2017.

4.1 Self roles and others in team
In every business organisation, the prime role of leaders is to direct or guide employees
while performing any task or activity. If they face any issue in this, it is necessary for leader to
help subordinates and resolve work based problems as soon as possible. While performing my
role in Hotel Marriott as leader, my foremost responsibility is to engage all employees together
so as to accomplish team goals and objectives. If a team will effectively perform then, firm will
also accomplish its vision and mission in a certain time period. I also tend to maintain healthy
group dynamics and intervene when essentials to help the group in resolving barriers or issues.
Along with this, it is also responsible for a leader to ensure that team members have
enough knowledge to do a task or activity, and if it is not then they start to provide training and
development assistance to people (Adjei and et. al., 2014). My another responsibility is to
increase creativity, risk taking and making constant improvements as boost up entire
performance level of the company. The team leader of Hotel Marriott familiarise the team with
identifying customers' needs, design targets, specifications, the development processes,
execution of design standards and tools to support performing a job role.

4.2 Notes for supporting future training events
In multinational business organisations, it is fundamental for human resource
management to organise training and development assistance so as to improve performance level
of employees in the best possible manner. Training is a prime opportunity which expand
knowledge level of entire workforce (Omar, Leach and March, 2014).
Stages of team development – there are five stages of team development, such as-
forming, norming, storming, performing and adjourning. In which forming entails the
stage in which employees interact with each other before performing any task, storming
initiates to put questions. On the other hand, norming states group of diverse range of
ideas and measure performance of team members. At last, adjourning means group get
dissolves after completion of task.
Assess three motivation theories – There various motivational theories, such as-
Maslow's hierarchy theory, Theory X and Y and Hertzberg theory so as to inspire or
motivate employees, analyse their performance and then reward them accordingly
(Gassmann, Frankenberger and Csik, 2014).
Different types of leadership style - Several leadership styles, like – autocratic,
demonstrate etc. so as to guide subordinates and business decisions accordingly.

Giving effective customer services to the larger part of clients is vital to build business
growth. Clients who get brilliant administration will enhance the main issue of every business by
coming back to management with rehash business. Four out of five individuals will probably
work with a business in the wake of accepting great administration. Along with this, good
customer services are benefited to offices comprehend the connection between the way they
welcome, treat and handle clients and the primary concern (Bernstein, 2015). Productive client
benefit divisions try to take care of issues as they happen, and, if conceivable, counteract them in
any case.
6.2 Benefits of customer profiling to business
Main advantages of customers profiling of a firm are stated as under: -
It supports company to make an effective or positive interaction with target audiences so
as to assess their needs and wants.
