Areas of Diversity
Marriott hotel valued diversity and inclusion since its start where it includes people from
various cultures to enhance their wellbeing. It has areas of diversity as corporate diversity.
Marriott promotes unity by creating an environment that accommodates all, advance employees
whom they have recruited and retained as their workforce. This helps Marriott to actively engage
with their diverse workforce due to inclusion with owners, clients, and the supplier base. Also,
global diversity is another area that Marriott hotel commits itself, whereby they have grown their
business to global markets. This enables Marriott hotel to work hand in hand with the local
communities to create job opportunities and increase their customers, value differences and
foster the living standard of the people leaving a positive impact in the community (Elkhwesky,
Salem and Barakat, 2019).
Moreover, partnership is another area in which Marriott values while embracing diversity
and inclusion. Marriott has formed various partnership across the world with many diverse
organizations as they will enable them to achieve their mission and embrace their core values of
putting people first to get quality services and build their reputation. This areas of diversity
ensure that Marriott legacy on their culture is kept vibrant and continue to be embraced by
upcoming generations (Rice, 2015).
Approaches Currently Taken
The organization has come up with various approaches to tackles its issues and enhance
performance. Marriott hotel ramped up its language skills and cultural awareness tools offerings

which help their associates access multiple country profile covering the aspects of economic,
political and historical backgrounds along with their cultural and social norms to enable them to

hotel hosts a global inclusion day, which enhances the celebration of the diversity of ideas
around the world and experiences. This helps them increase the ability of innovation to succeed
as all associates are given an opportunity to show their potential, engage in various activities and
are empowered on how best they can deliver quality services to clients.
Besides, putting people first has helped Marriott in pursuing excellence as they provide a
wide range of opportunities to take care of their associates even during the most challenging
situations. They embrace changes through innovation in order to remain relevant to the
customers and their workforce in the provision of outstanding services and customer experience
(Ross, 2018).
Despite their great efforts towards making their performance excellent, Marriot faces
some challenges such as terrorism and political unrest, which alters their long term plan of
international growth as some countries face devastating violence. Also, slowing United States
economic growth hinders Marriott has most of its property lies in that region as the business
level has gone down than leisure travel, which is getting stronger.
Strategies that can be implemented
To improve diversity, Marriott hotel should enhance strong host guests relationship
whereby the company is successful in ensuring customer satisfaction. They should take more
effective measures to strengthen their loyalty cards in which they offer and how customers give
feedback on services provided to continue maintaining them. Moreover, Marriott should come up

with better service policies, practices, and application, which does not only favor clients but also
employees. Although customers are essential, the employees should follow a particular
procedure in doing activities by complying to set service policies and practices in all regions due

Marriott hotel should know how to manage the expectation of their customers and
workforce. Dissatisfaction will lead to losing customers, employees, and poor image; hence,
quality service delivery is critical (Cascio, 2015). Lastly, they should come up with business
cultural ethics which are reviewed at a specific interval of time due to dynamic changes across
the globe.
Conclusion
Diversity and inclusion have seen Marriott hotel to greater heights in their business as
they provide better quality services, recognizes recruitment of employees from different cultures
and put their clients first thus portraying a positive image as they are the ambassadors of the
hotel. Therefore managers should always appreciate diversity since it is one way of ensuring
organizational success.
