Hospitality industry is comprised of various sectors such as hotels, restaurants, pubs,
tourism sector, leisure sector, etc. This sector has a very wide scope these days. This particular
service sector has contributed in world economy. Therefore, many opportunities have been
emerged in this industry (Bulley, 2015). Further, the new concept of international hospitality
management have been came into focus after the colonial period in the late 1700. Since then,
hospitality industry has experienced significant development. However, it has also faced world
wars, depression period and several social changes. This industry began to take form in the
1950's and 1960's and lead their way into dynamic industry. Moreover, earlier people used to
travel for religion purpose, business purpose, for educational purpose. But now today people
travel in order to fulfill all kinds of purposes including the purpose of leisure as well (Altinay,
Paraskevas and Jang, 2015).
Moreover, the business of tourism has also evolved with the growth of hospitality
industry worldwide. This industry has a major contribution in growth of UK and world economy.
Furthermore, the hospitality industry has developed with an annual economic impact of around
6.5 trillion USD worldwide (Travel, Tourism & Hospitality, 2016). Thus, it can be inferred that
hospitality industry contribute the major part in the development of world economy. In addition
to this international hospitality management have played an important role in showcasing the
cultures of different countries. Along with that, it also promotes the culture and tourism of
particular country.
This report is mainly focused on the international hospitality management of Marriott
Hotel West India Quay. It is a luxury 5 star hotel located in London. It is situated as canary
Wharf which is overlooking the West India Quay Marina (Travel, Tourism & Hospitality, 2016).
Moreover, this is operated by the Marriott Hotel group and it is build mainly for the business
purpose. Further, this report also covers the environmental scanning that is SWOT analysis,
PEST analysis, Porter Generic Strategy, Ansoff Matrix and many more which are conducted by
this company. Along with that, discussion has been made on the emerging markets for this
