Practical Assignment
AI Summary
This assignment report details the process of analyzing image porosity using ImageJ software. The student followed a step-by-step procedure, including image opening, cropping, scaling, threshold adjustment, and particle analysis. The analysis focused on determining the percentage area representing porosity for various images, with results presented in a table. The report includes detailed results such as total area, average pore size, circularity, solidity, and Feret parameters. References to relevant resources, including YouTube tutorials and research papers, are also provided to support the methodology and analysis. The report provides a comprehensive understanding of the image analysis techniques used to determine porosity in materials science applications.

Analysis for Porosity 2
The analysis for porosity for these images was done using imageJ software.
(Zalooli, 2016) Described the procedure for analysis of images using imageJ which at the same
time has been demonstrated by (Svsufoundry, 2014) as shown below;
1. Opening the image and cropping it to eliminate the unnecessary parts.
2. The images were saved in the format that is readable by imageJ and for this case, we used
.png and tiff.
3. We introduced scaled the image using the scale that was given for each image.
4. The image type was set to be 32bit and the adjustment for the threshold was done to
reasonable level. The colored area in red represent the pores within that region.
5. On analysis we chose the set measurement and selected the area, percentage area and
ferret for analysis. Then we chose particle analysis, which calculates the results
automatically on pressing okay.
The percentage area represents the porosity for the images, which has been highlighted in yellow
as shown in the table below. The other results for the analysis can be found in the folder for all
the images, which was done separately.
