Max Weber, in the present day is one of the most well-known sociologists in the
modern world itself. Apart from being a sociologist, he is also known to be a political
economist who is well known for the thesis of the Protestant ethic as well as the theories of
bureaucracy by the sociologist himself.
Weber was mainly known for having the concerns about the subject matter of the
processes of rationalization, secularization as well as the disenchantment, which he had
associated with the rise of the capitalism and modernity in the world itself. As such, Weber is
known to be one of the greatest sociologists of all times in the world itself.
The purpose of this essay is to describe in detail the subject matter of Max

the definition of the bureaucracy to the world itself. He was said to be in favour of the

modernity as well as the traditionality itself (Bennis,2016).
Weber is of the opinion that bureaucracy was one of the best methods of setting up the
organization, administrations as well as the organizations itself.
He was of the opinion that the people in the society should be considered to be equal
of one another and thus the labour in the society should be clearly divided based on the
classification of the labour in the society itself.
The theory of Bureaucracy by Max Weber mainly deals with the subject matter of the

criticism which the theory itself faces (Anter, 2017).
Bureaucracy is defined as the type of the rule that is characterised by the number of
many different rules and regulations in the company itself, procedures, the number of

individual himself/herself can witness in the company itself.
It is based on this definition of the bureaucracy itself that Max Weber had formulated
his theory of the definitions of the theory of the bureaucracy itself (Andreski, 2016).

stated that the bureaucracy in the country is important because of the reason that it plays an
important and indispensable role in the large organizations in which the employee is working.
The experts are of the opinion that the selection as well as the promotion of the
employees takes place in the companies based on the type of the qualifications of the
employees themselves (Andreski, 2013).
It is being stated by the experts themselves that the better the employees would
perform themselves in the company itself, the more they would be able to rise up the ladder
of the bureaucracy of the company itself.
In addition to this, the bureaucratic theory of Max Weber also informs the readers
about the type of the power that the individuals themselves would be able to see in the
bureaucratic organizations itself.
The sociologist goes on to state the fact that the fact that the different types of power
which could be seen by the professionals in the organizations include the traditional power,
charismatic power as well as the legal power of the individuals themselves (Bennis, 2017).

criticisms (Bennis, 2017).

its own.
These critiques are of the opinion that according to Max Weber himself, the authority
rests on the legal incumbency of the office itself as well as the technical competence of the
organization itself. However, it is here that the critiques are of the opinion that the this is
seldom the case in the companies itself, as the superiors in the company have neither the
knowledge nor the skills for the above said qualities itself.
Hence, it can be sated that the policies which were stated by Max Weber would not
meet the criteria given by the sociologist himself (Beetham, 2017).
Other problems and criticisms which the sociologist has mentioned in his theories
includes the sociologist not distinguishing between the definitions as well as the propositions
for the model itself (Andreski, 2013).
Some other criticisms of the organization which can be found by the sociologists in
the theory of the bureaucracy of the organization s itself is the fact that there are no
correlations between the organizations in the bureaucratic attributes as well as the national
attributes of the organization itself.
Hence, it can be said that all these factors play an important role in the subject matter
of the criticisms of the bureaucratic theory of the organization itself.
