The assignment will bring a light upon the identification of the short term and long-term
goals in the perspective of the career. In addition, there will be a description of the past
experiences which help or assist in attaining the goals with an MBA degree.
In perspective of my career growth as completion of MBA, there are certain short-term and
long-term goals, which will help in attaining them with the degree. The purpose of my life is
to create value for the community and provide better standard of living, and the purpose will
be achieved through the means of business.
MBA (Masters of Business Administration) refers to a high-valued degree which has been
designed to develop the required skills for the careers in the fields of business and
management (Bolden, 2016).
Short-term goals refer to those which can be achieved within a short duration of time,
whereas the goals which require more than a year in their achievement are termed as long-
term goals (Hickman and Silva, 2018).
In context to the given aspects, my short term-goal is to acquire a job in the company, Tech
Mahindra Limited India at the position of Senior software engineer. My goal from the long-
term perspective is to transition or get transferred from the job position of Senior software
engineer and acquire the position of senior product management in a top company. Thus, the
short-term and long-term goals are stated well which will be attained with the help of some
by acquiring managerial or leadership skills for higher performance.
In order to attain a higher position of senior product manager or any other role in product
management, it is essential for me to reach at the short term goal or targets. Thus, to attain a
future position of senior product manager I took the decision to emerge as a successful senior
software engineer by working in Tech Mahindra (Harold, and Harold, 2017).
I have enlisted the goals to be achieved however; these require attaining skills, and qualities
which would be further attainable with an MBA degree. As I have learned about becoming an
efficient product manager, I understood that there are different roles of a product manager
from strategic to tactical such as providing effective leadership between the sales, marketing,
engineering, and other support teams. To become a future product manager would require
logical and excellent communication skills, leadership skills. Therefore, doing MBA will help
in acquiring this skill and attain these short and long-term goals. Thus, enrolling into MBA, I
will acquire sufficient knowledge of the products, and the way they are to be sold to the

customers. In addition, I will also develop skills through involving into some of the case
studies which will be related to the concepts of consumer behaviour and how the product can
earn profits to the team or company.
The attainment of these goals can also be facilitated through one of my experiences in the
past. I was given a project during my internship in the course of graduation during my
internship to market a product to a number of customers, thus it highlighted about one major
aspect of persuasion, through which I convinced the customer towards buying and increasing
the sales of the product.
To conclude the discussion, it has been analysed that skills and the past experiences are the
major pillars of successful attainment of career-related goals in life.
