Week 2
Note-taking and time management skills
In the note taking skills I learned how to cover the key points while making notes of any
lesson or lecture. I learned active note-taking skills which help me empowering my notes content
along with saves my time later. It helps me to capture, re-order, understand and remember useful
and important information and concept. Time management skills help me in completing my all
task and work on time and also on regular basis. This also help me in improving exam grades.
Week 3
Teamwork skills
Teamwork skills help me a lot in developing myself for the future success. It is quite
challenging for me because of my ineffectiveness in the communication. But in process of
developing the skill realize me that before becoming effective it is important for all the team
member to go through a learning curve. The project work gave me this opportunity to work in a
team and coordinating with team members. It also help me in developing my self concept
because of supportive environment of the team.

Week 4
Presentation Skills
In this week, I have learnt about skills of presenting in front of audience and the content, its
preparation and presentation which must be an attractive, understandable and eye catchy one. A
presentation involves three steps that is designing, delivery and confidence. Design must be an
attractive and understandable one and while delivering it voices of the presenter must
appropriate, body language such as eye contact and posture and wording should be clear and
simple. And the last one is confidence which I can improve by improving my thinking process,
emotional mood and behaviour. The most important factor that helps in building confidence is
practice because it is a common fact that “practice makes a man perfect.”
Week 5
Academic reading skill
Academic reading skill help me in improving my understanding level of the concept that
I am reading. For this, I use the regular reading of emails and message task and complete the task
on time with effective and efficient way. The average reading capacity of mine per minute is 600
words with 60% comprehension. It is because of the eyes fixation and eye jumps which causes
slow down in my reading speed. But on the other hand, this skill help me a lot in speeding up my
reading speed with accuracy and I become more successful at my university and also at my
workplace. This also help me in gaining more knowledge and better comprehension.
Week 6
Academic writing skill
Because of the academic writing skill I am able to fulfil the expectation of my lecturer
and able to produce essay writing in the proper and correct structure. After completion of my
skill lecture I am able to cover the logical content in my essay along with that I cover the
concept which are mechanically correct and clear. The structure of the essay or report that I
follow is includes three step introduction, body and conclusion. The introduction structure that I
followed include hook, background and outline of the particular topic. The main body structure
of writing essay includes topic sentence, supporting sentence and concluding sentence which I
followed to complete my essay.

Week 7
Pre-presentation skill evaluation
I evaluate Pre-presentation skill on the basis of three parameters i.e. presentation
structure, methods of delivery and style of delivery. Before adopting this skill course I am unable
to present my thoughts and ideas in the power point presentation and unable to express my
thought on story flow structure which causes various challenges to me. Before this, I am unable
to use the charts, diagrams and images in order to explain my ideas clearly. I am unable to
understand the different methods of delivery and selecting the best delivery channel. I am also
not able to know the difference between the different style of delivery such as eye contact, voice
clarity, hand gesture and movement. This all issues affect my presentation in my examination
and put huge impact on the exam marks.
Week 8
Post-presentation skill evaluation
I am strongly agree with the statement that decision must be flexible and changes
according to environmental changes because rigid decision lead to discouragement of the
employees. I am also strongly agreed that every individual need to track their own performance
effectiveness because it boost the morale of the individual team members. I am agreeing that all
the members of my team understand their own and whole team goals and objectives. I am also
agreeing with the fact that each member of my team understood their contribution in the
effectiveness of the tasks. I am strongly disagree that each of the team member understand the
potential contribution of the other team members because they are focused towards their own
work rather than others. Each team members are coordinating with each other and I agree with
this statement because it helps them in improving their work life balance. All groups are
completing their task on time without comprising their work quality. I am disagree that all
groups are working harmoniously and resolved the conflicts if any arises while managing and
completing the task. I am strongly agreed that all the groups and their members learn a lot about
the background of the company. I am strongly disagreeing that all the member of the team listen
carefully to each other and provide continuous feedback because there are some members who
are showing interest in learning new things.

Skills Audit
To became a event manager of a company first of I will need to analyse my strength,
weakness, opportunities and threats by applying SWOT model (Sarfraz, 2017). This will help me
to find out my weak area and skills which I need to improve in order to score good percentage in
my annual examination. With this I can also improve my skills and achieve my goals and
objectives.

Strength:
As I am always score high marks and top my classes at the time when I was a school student. So
academic writing and reading is my biggest strength along with managing whole work within a
specific time period. This all skills help me in scoring good percentage in my MBA examination
also. Academic writing helps me in completing my daily work either in class or at home on time.
Because I practice it on daily basis which I need to continue in the college also. Because of the
reading skill I am able to understand the tasks and activities independently without any others
person help (Richiţeanu-Năstase, Stăiculescu and Lăcătuş, 2018). I complete my exam on time
because of daily practice and developing time management skill. This also allow me enough time
to recheck my whole paper again after I completed my exam paper. I am also able to do various
activities on a single time which going to help me at my job workplace.

Weakness:
Despite, various strength I also come up with a view that I have various weak skills which might
stop me in achieving my goal of becoming event manager of the company. Such skills involve
lack of cooperation with other students and lack of paying attention to them and also lack of
cultural awareness. Because of the following weakness I am unable to speak on the groups and
can't learn new thinks. The lack of cultural awareness demotivate me and realizes me that I am
incapable to manage a team (Bailey, 2017). As it is quiet clear that in order to become a event
manager a student must have practical knowledge besides the academic and bookish knowledge.
I experienced during my school days that only achieving high grades are not going to help me. I
also need to overcome by weak skills by joining course and by taking parts in the social
gathering, events and debate competitions.
Opportunities:
If I really want to achieve my goal and want to make my career in event management than I need
to focus on the other activities along with the studies. As my MBA college offers the training of
learning and improving the six most important skills such as writing, reading, teamwork, note-
making, time management and presentation skills. By attending the regular lectures and by
practising daily essay writing I can further improve my reading and writing skills. But in order to
convert my weakness into strength I need to grab the opportunity which is provided by my
college. With the help of presentation classes I learn the best way to present my thoughts in form
of project, report and assignment. In the note making classes I learn the liner and pattern system
of note-making. In the self organization classes I learn the way to manage the balance between
study and social life (Kim and Beehr, 2018). This help me to keep myself physically healthy and
reduce stress. With the help of 24 hours time table and rocks and sand techniques I further
enhanced by time management skill. With the help of social skills development and life
techniques provided by my college I learn how to work with a team which further help me in my
career.
Threats:

My biggest threat is that I am unable to analyse any event projects and also not learn such skill in
the college also. Because of not having any practical and industrial knowledge I expect from my
college that they provide their students with practical experience such as arranging career
counselling with industrial experts (Gagné and et.al., 2020). One of the biggest threat of mine is
that I am unable to design and style any events which might stop me from achieving my goals.
Career development and employability
In order to develop my career in the event management the skills, training and knowledge
provide by the my college helps me a lot. But there is another four skills that is provided by the
college and learned by me which helps me in my career & employability. This includes personal
branding, Networking, Curriculum vitae and aptitude testing.
Week 9
Personal Branding:
With the help of personal branding skill provides by my college I am able to arrange and
manage my hotel's various events digitally. For this purpose I adopt the various social media
platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter in order to advertise my
events ideas and thoughts. Such step help me in attracting more customers to my event venue.
While doing this things what I never forget to do is continuous checking of my event
advertisements views and results. Any think which reflect the wrong message and put negative
impact on my event and company's brand that always get deleted by mine. The skills that I learn
in my college always help me in my job that before taking any steps it is important that we adapt
accessible and visible method for advertising the company's brand. As an event manager I uses
the blog network methods to advertise my all events and I also uses story line on my Instagram
channel (Rangarajan, Gelb and Vandaveer, 2017). This whole step helps me in my personal
branding because the customer and companies get to know my name and my ideas and thoughts
by reading my blogs and by watching my story lines. By doing this what I received in the return
is that I receive an interview call from the top companies in the hospitality industry and I also get
selected in such interview. For achieving this result I follow the same industry and their experts
actions. I always try to make my online presence by continuously being active on all social

media sites. After getting my dream job I uses brand extension strategy with the help of which I
extended the brand of my company in different countries and attract more customers.
Week 10
Networking:
The another way to develop the career and employability which I consider the most is use
of networking. Networking is the to connect with the different peoples and exchange each others
information, ideas and thoughts. With the help of this and by using the communication skills
provided by my college I am able to connect large public groups and I also able to host various
events. This step help me in exploring the various job opportunities in the hospitality sector and
achieving my dream job role of event manager. Being a event manager this career development
skills helps me in making a strong relation with the customers, business associates and my other
team members (Ren and Chadee, 2017). By adopting networking skills I am able to gain and
visualize the hospitality industry insights and also able to attract more customers to business and
my events. I uses the face to face meeting to interact with my other team members. I never limit
myself to the situations and try various platforms to interact with the customers, business
partners, investors etc. Because investors are the one who are going to invest in my events. In
order to build interaction and networking I used hotels conference area, social media platforms,
local coffee shops and even also while travelling. In order to develop my career in the event
management I also conversation starter technique in the networking method. During the event I
always ask my guest with the statement that “Are you enjoying the event and what do you think
about this venue of the event”. In order to maintain the network with the others I always try to
reach out to them with Hii message in every 1 months. I also make comment on their pics and
stories and also like and share their post on the social media in order to maintain with them a
goods relation.
Week 11
Curriculum Vitae (CV): The top ten tips to write perfect CV are:
 Creating a good CV also helps me in developing my career in the event management.
Because the first thing the interviewer look out in the candidate is their Curriculum vitae
structure and presentation.

 So the skill of writing a good CV which I learn from my college help me a lot which
suggest me that every individual have to write their own CV (Gunawan, Andrianto and
Schoonderbeek, 2017).
 Before writing CV I always remember one thing is the purpose of my CV. As my
purpose is to explore and arrange various types of private and public events for customers
and grow my company to the next level. The result of my CV is that it easily attracts the
HR of any company in which I applied.
 I always suggest to the others that it is important to incorporate both your personal and
professional skills in the CV because it attract the interviewers more.
 It is always advisable to the candidates who are going to attend any interview that they
must use professional language to write CV because I do the same.
 Before sending it I always recheck the spelling error if any along with that I avoid using
jargon and phrases.
 And one more thing that I avoid is as it is copy of sample Template.
 The CV which I write for my event manager role contents the specific role and
achievements not any irrelevant information.
 The common mistakes that I avoid is including negative information, including my
previous and expected salary, no bullet points, listing too many skills and achievements.
 It is also advisable that the presentation of the CV contains maximum two pages and not
more than that along with including section heading (Nugba and Quansah, 2021).
Week 12
Aptitude Testing:
In my college I learn the skill of giving the aptitude test which is also known as
proficiency and skills test in order to develop my career in the event management. This test help
me a lot in understanding tricky questions and solving them in limited time. Nowadays many
hotel company's conduct the aptitude test in their candidate selection processes. It is because
aptitude test is the best way to measure the competency of the candidates if they face any tricky
events organizations. As I also pass this test because the recruiters uses this technique to select
the most suitable candidate for the role of the event managers. The company in which I am
currently working uses the analytical testing to hire the candidate for the role event mangers. The
personality test helps in identifying the personal values and moral of an individuals (Huston,

Baldwin and Schultheis, 2017). The numeracy test I learned in my college helps me scoring
goods marks in the maths test related to the graphs, ratios and percentages. In case if I don't
know the answer of any question I guess that answer but make sure that there is no negative
marking. As many company takes the online test in which 20% of the candidates get failed. The
verbal reasoning test helps me in identifying the relation between the words.
Week 13
Managing Stress
Stress can be defined as a mental or emotional tensions which results from demanding adverse
circumstances. It is kind of psychological pressure or negative emotions which can came from
both personal or work life causing fatigue or low morale. I feel understanding of stress and
managing the same is a very important task in my life. Many skills are considered to be
important for managing stress like time management skills, personal attributes like attitudinal
change are important for me to overcome the pressure and negativities of stress.
Week 14
Enhancing memory 1
Enhancing memory refers to the improvement of memory in order to increase an ability to
remember things and events. I have learnt many techniques in order to enhance memory such as
similar sound technique which helps in remembering definitions of words to which I am not
familiar with, but they sound to be similar in some context. The second technique is of
Mnemonic devices which means a Goddess of memory and by reminding her I can improve my
memory. The other two techniques are songs, rhymes and alliteration and memory palaces which
are helpful in enhancing memory.
Week 15
Enhancing memory 2
In this week continuing with the first week, there are many more techniques to enhance memory
that I have learnt in this week such as picture's context to remember things which helps in
reminding the text just by looking at the pictures. Another way to enhance memory is to follow
the link system which helps in linking one item to another. Numeric peg system which allows for
remembering pictures by pegging it with numbers and remembering dates are the another two
techniques which I have learnt in this week that helps in enhancing my memory.

Week 16
Critical thinking and academic credibility
Critical thinking is an ability to think of a solution when faced with a problem in order to find
out the solution which is correct and rational. And academic credibility means stating the
credible source while performing any academic tasks like research assignment which enhances
the quality and trustworthiness of the work which helps me in making my arguments more
effective. Skills like active listening and understanding of mental processes can help me out in
enhancing my ability to think critically.
Week 17
Research and finding credible sources
In this week I have learnt about types of research and while learning secondary research I came
to know about two different sources of credibility like reliable and unreliable sources. I learnt
that unreliable sources provide inaccurate information which leads to discrediting writer's status
for example Wikipedia, blogs and social networking sites. I also came across four reliable sites
in order to state credible source for the research assignment. Also, .edu, .gov and .org are
considered to be an online reliable source.
Week 18
Reviewing the work
In this week, I came to learn about how I should review my work in order to correct some
common mistakes like poor paragraphing, poor introductory section and poor structuring of
essay. Essay must be in a form of introduction, main body and conclusion and everything must
be written in sentences instead of using bullet points. Linking words must be used in an
appropriate manner, there must be a presence of in text citations in one of the four manner and at
last there should be a bibliography section where all the sources of assignment work are stated.
Week 19
My chosen source for report and essay
In this report, I understand and completed the whole task on the basis of skills I learned in
my college and the structure of the report that my teacher teaches me in the class. The whole
work follows the internal and external source. In order to complete this task, I use the google for
researching extra points and concept which help me in improving the quality of my work.

Description of the experience : -
I get a lot of experience while working in the even and it is crucial for the management to
develop the skills of the personality in the process of the development. It is crucial fro me to

understand the importance of the working in thee skills and I realised that I get a good strength in
the process of time management and academic writing. There are several conditions where was
lacking in the skills including the places of the weakness of skills I have. I am not a culture
aware person which is causing me in the issues of the working as I need to develop them as I am
working as an event planner (Bass and et.al., 2020). This is crucial fro me to develop as I need to
work in different places where I need to provide the culture best and need to be aware about it.
Development in the description of the skills is that I am working best with reading skills
and it is helping me in explaining the customer in more and it is crucial fro me to convince the
customer. The adaptivity of the nature I have helped me in understanding situation which further
help in increase of working in the life to personal and professional development. Development
and understanding of skills need to be sure as I need to implement them in the process so that I
can provide a better impact in profession.
Feelings
I attended the seminar over the carer development and guidance. The seminars taught me
plenty of thing about my career interest. I got to know that I needed to grow myself in certain
areas like critical thinking, presentation and teamwork, communication skill and self
organisation ability. I has this feeling where I felt that I will be able to grow myself to that level
that I can become the best in the business of talent management. I also have threat that
competition is huge between professionals (Von Solms and Nel, 2017). I always have this huge
interest to manage a certain event. It becomes essential to improve and develop the individual
personality and skill improvement. I contain certain skill as my strength such as time
management, academic writing, academic reading an multitasking skill that favour me to reach
the best of the event management campaigning. I have this strong feeling that all my strong areas
will favour me to achieve best career growth in the field of event manager.
Evaluation
I attend the seminar and the experience was both good and bad. I get to know all the key
requirements that an individual require to become a successful event manager. I got to know
about my skills where I am good at and also get to know about the areas where I needed to grow
as a event manager. I evaluated that my experience has been productive enough so that as a
professional I get to develop myself. The seminar has help me understanding the way particular
event need to be organized so that better services can be delivered to customers. The good was

that my effective communication skills has helped me in exchanging and sharing information
pertaining to the way specific task need to be completed for better outcome. Moreover, I able to
understand that I have good time management skills that helps me in managing several task or
activities in limited time frame (Choo, Abdullah and Nawi, 2018). Thereby contributing
completing the task in limited time and making customers happy and satisfied. On the other
hand, it can be analyses that I am unable to work in team that create me a problem in
coordinating diverse range of people to work towards organizing and managing the event
successful.
Analysis
So, from the above reflective it can be analyse that there are certain areas in which I need to
work in order to become successful event manager in reputable organization. Likewise, it can be
stated that better critical thinking has helped me in finding innovative and creative ideas that can
be used to make event successful and customers happy and satisfied. Moreover, i need to work
on my self organized skills has help me organizing numerous resources, activities and task for
better outcome.
Conclusion
It can be also summarized from evaluation and analysis, that I by improving my skills and
capabilities such as team work and knowledge pertaining to culture awareness can successfully
pursue my career as event manager. At the same time it can be stated that simulcasting and
adaptability skills has helped me in changing my strategies or action as per recent trend to
various customers (Kelly, 2020). So it can be understand that there are numerous skills which are
required in order to become successful event manager likewise team working, communication
and decision making.
