Part-A: Preparation for Placements
Introduction
I am a student in the University of East London and pursuing masters in MBA. I have
skill with evidence, strong management skills as well as the leadership skills through the
experience and B.Tech in the Mechanical Engineering. For the success of the business I am
interested to learn new technologies. I am seeking for Finance Costing Management, Product
Development internship opportunity.
Past employment
I joined the Sr. Design Engineer & Development of Electromechanical products and my
key responsibilities were to product design, Estimation and costing, developing or modifying the
existing product according to the customer’s requirement, designing of the components using the
CNC machines, press machines and casting techniques, scheduled development of the prototypes
for the design validation and the testing by planning the work and the allotment to the concerned;
ensuring the components assembly as per the assembly drawing as well as making modification
as per the requirement.

About HORIZON INFORMATIC SERVICES (INDIA) PRIVATE LIMITED
I have done MBA in University of East London. I learn many things and also develop my
skills such as, team management skills, leadership skills, how to manage all activities in an
organisation. I had worked in Horizon Informatic Service Private Limited for 8.5 years of
experience in SrDesign Engineer & Development of Electromechanical products. In the

company I learn many things and get deep knowledge about electro mechanical design and
manufacturing process. Working in a company helps in developing new skills and also enhances
knowledge. in the organisation I build strong understanding of product development process,
manufacturing expertise and financial scoping of engineering programs (Jackson, Fleming and
Rowe, 2019). I also learn how to meet product requirement and international quality standards.
The company was good and I am glad that I had worked for 8.5 years with the organisation and it
help me in getting practical knowledge as well as many skills are developed which are useful. I
have done my internship from DKRIN LIMITED as a business analyst. I have successfully
completed in and having internship certificate.
It is beneficial for me working with company because I learn many things such as, product
costing and managing all the things in systematic way. My roles and responsibilities in company
was to make estimation and costing. I have done B.Tech in mechanical engineering and this
helps me in development of prototypes for testing and development of existing product
according to need of customers. My overall experience was good as I get many opportunities to
learn new things and my seniors were good and guide me at every step. Training was also given
to me so that I can improve my performance and it help me in learning things easily. I try to
solve problems by finding creative solutions, interact with many people and after sometime I
learn all things and it was interesting to do work. In every company there are many things that a
person can develop and it will help them in bosting their confidence. When working in an
organisation it helps in identifying strengths and weakness, how it can be improved and what are
the ways by which problem can be solved. It is essential for an individual person to enhance their
knowledge so that they will not face any problem in future.
Problems and issues faced while working
When I join the company training was given to me so that I can learn how to do work and
environment of organisation. Employees of the company are good as they are interacting with
me and asked me about my qualification. Thy help me in understanding how to do work properly
and if I do mistakes then they tell me how to correct it. In Horizon Informatic Services Limited I
had worked for 8.5 years in SrDesign Engineer and development of Electromechanical products.
In the company I was performing many roles and responsibilities such as, handling issues which
arise in projects, product designing, estimation and costing. I was also responsible for
development or modification of existing products according to the need of customer. Sometimes,

I had made changes in plans or strategies because requirement of customer was changed and
make new plans so that needs of customers can be satisfied and it will help company in
generating more profit. It is the responsibility of all employees to complete work when a task is
given in group so that it can be finished on time.
Other responsibility of my was to make design of components which is being
manufactured with the help of CNC machines, casting techniques, press machines etc. In MBA I
learn that how to manage all the activities in an organisation and develop some skills such as,
leadership, teamwork and ability to face problems. I am also having the quality of taking quick
decisions so that work will not stop. I was responsible for scheduling development of prototypes,
for testing and design validation by planning work and allotment to the concerned. I was making
plans or strategies according to taste and preference of consumers and distribute work among
employees on the basis of their specialisation. It is important that work should be properly
divided so that there will be no issue and it will help in achieving goals and objectives of
company. I was also handling selection of raw material, overseeing the quality as per
international standard and other regulatory standards. It was my duty to ensure that employees
are working according to the instructions given or make changes in plans if required.
There are many issues which is faced by a person when working in a company such as, do
not get adjust with existing people, environment of company is not good, employees are not
giving respect, not able to understand how to complete the work. When a project is given then
there are many issues which is faced by employees because they are not knowing how to do
work and may be training is not given to them. Workers have to find solution of problem and
should complete the given task on time. It is the responsibility of managers to distribute work
among employees on the basis of their specialisation and all should have right to speak and share
their views. There are many projects which are given to employees in a team so that work can be
completed on time and their will be no problem (Farrell, 2017.).
It is not easy to handle issues in an organisation because there are may challenges which a
company has to face and employees should work hard so that goals and objectives are achieved.
I was handling a project as a leader and I have to give instructions to my team members. In that
project I make plans what we have to do and time limit also, according to that strategy is being
made. I distribute work among my team members on the basis of their specialisation and time
limit was fixed within which all have to complete their work. Some changes were made in plans

so that work can be completed on time. At the end, we have achieved goals and objectives which
are made and appreciated by our seniors.
Evaluation of work done
In the Horizon Informatic Services Private Limited I was working as a design engineer and
development of electro mechanical products. It is the responsibility of all employees to work
efficiently so that task can be completed on time and it will help in achieving goals and
objectives of company. In the organisation I was making plans or strategies for development of
company and more revenue can be generated. I was trying to meet product requirements and
make it according to the need of consumers so that they can satisfy and it will lead to increase in
sales (Exter, Caskurlu and Fernandez, 2018). I was making estimation of how much raw material
is required and managing cost so that proper balance can be made between expenses and income.
It is the responsibility of a manager to handle all the issues in an organisation and take necessary
steps so that better plans can be made.
I was developing existing products by making them innovative and some improvements
are made to ensure that product is made according to choice of customers. In organisation I was
responsible for interacting with various sub- contractors regarding work completion as per the
drawing. I was checking performance of employees and also ensuring that work should be done
properly so that there will be no mistake and good quality products can be delivered to
consumers. There are many skills which I had developed while working in the company and
some skills I was having which help me a lot in taking good decisions and help in my future
growth. At the workplace we meet many people and all are having different quality and skills.
We can learn good qualities from people and it will help us in getting better opportunities in
future. Some of the skills are discussed below which I was having and it was helpful for me.
Problem solving – This is one of the skills which I was having and I had developed this during
my MBA course. In my college teachers are giving some questions in which we have to give our
judgement and it was related to how to issues in an organisation. if problem arise between two
employees then how to solve it and create positive working environment in the company so that
other people can work properly. When working in a company I realise that there are many
problems and it should be solved so that goals and objectives can be achieved. It is the duty of
manager to handle all issues and find creative solution of problem so that work can be finished
on time.

Management and leadership – This is another important skill which is required at the
workplace because work is given in teams so that it can be completed on time. A leader is being
made for every team who will guide members and give them instructions so that work can be
completed efficiently and there will be no problem in future. It is duty of managers to distribute
work among employees and make a leader. In the company I was working as a team player in
development of Wall amount type OCTC of rating 22kV, 50A. I was also involved in
development of On load tap changer 33kv transformer. This was achievement for me and I was
appreciated by my seniors. It is important to have management and leadership skills because a
person should know how to manage their activities and has the ability to lead team. It is one of
the important skill nowadays, which helps a person in getting good job opportunities in future.
Interpersonal skills and communication - Interpersonal skills and communication is essential
at the workplace because it helps in identifying behaviour of a person. It is essential for a person
to have good communication skill because it helps in influencing others and creates positive
impact. In Horizon informatic services I had developed this skill by interacting with more
people. My communication skills were good earlier but in the company I learn how to interact
with employees. It is essential that every employee should have good communication skill and it
will help in getting good opportunities in future (Servant-Miklos, 2019).
Innovation- Innovation is must for every company because it helps in making new products
according to need of customers. When new and innovative products are made by company then it
will help company in increasing their sales and good quality products can be made so that needs
of customers will be satisfied. In Horizon Informatic services I was responsible for making
changes in existing products and try to provide good services to consumers. Modifications were
made according to choice of customers and employees work efficiently so that needs of
consumers can be satisfied and it will help in increasing sales. Plans are made so that work can
be completed in a systematic way and there will be no confusion among employees.
Personal reflection
Everyone want good jobs opportunities after completing their education. A student want that
he or she may get good jobs. I have completed MBA and want that I must get good job so that I
can generate money and it will me in achieving my goals and objectives. Everyone want that
they should get good opportunities and this will help them in achieving goals and objectives
which is beneficial for them. After completing my education I was searching or job so that my

dreams can come true. I was having all the skills which are essential at the workplace and it is
important that every employee should work in a systematic way so that goals and objectives can
be achieved. It is important for everyone to have some skills because in the organization it is
required and wages are decided on the basis of qualification and skills a person has. In my
college I have given an interview in which I was asked many questions and I have to solve that
from the point of view of managers. They ask me about how I can increase sales and make
changes in existing products. They also check my communication skills and problem solving
ability so that they can select best candidate for their company. It is important that a person
should have some skills so that they can answer questions and they will get good job
opportunities. It is essential that a person should develop skills and enhance their knowledge so
that they can get good jobs and it will be beneficial for them in achieving goals and objectives.
It is important that a person should have all skills and work efficiently so that they can
accomplish goals. It is essential for employees to have good communication skills because it
helps in building good image in front of seniors and also helps in creating positive environment
in the company. From that interview I learn that I should build confidence and develop skills
which are necessary at the workplace so that I can get good opportunity in future. After that, I
improve my communication skills by interacting with more people and this help me in building
confidence. I did not get nervous and work hard to improve my communication skills, this helps
me in future to get good job opportunities. I also develop my problem solving skills during my
college by interacting with my teachers and aksing them to give me situations which can arise in
a company. Then I try to find solutions from the point of view of managers and take decisions
which is best in that situation.
According to me, a person should have the ability to take decision and solve problems in a
creative way. In every situation a person should have the skills to find solutions and take quick
decisions which is beneficial for growth of company.
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion it can be concluded that, there are many skills which are required
at the workplace. When working in an organisation a person has to many challenges such as,
understanding behaviour of employees. Try to understand work so that an individual can

complete it on time. Being an engineer I work hard to achieve goals and objectives of company
and completed the given project on time with the help of my team members. I had perform my
roles and responsibilities with full efficiency and try to learn many things which is beneficial for
me in future growth. In the Horizon Informatic services I had improve my innovation skill as
well as leadership and management skills. I was a given a project and worked as a team leader,
project was completed on time and our team has perform best.
